You know you can just go play old Minecraft right now, right? You don't just whine about nu Minecraft but never actually play old Minecraft, right?
Someone already remade it in nu craft
>>738230748This is a bit complex because it requires abstract thought and this may be quite hard for someone of your IQ and shade of skin, but when people express regret on what happened to Minecraft's development, they don't mean that they literally want the old version back, because as you pointed out they can just do that. Now if you were a little bit smarter you would ask yourself>They know they can play the old version because it's obvious>but if they can play it, then what could the point of this complaint actually be? But you never got this far. No, the point is that all the development on Minecraft up to this point could've culminated in something better if design principles weren't dogshit and retarded. Imagine if they had actually realized the potential minecraft had instead of neutering it.

>>738229242microsoft is so scared of hurting their golden goose that they treat minecraft as scripture rather than something to be expanded and improved upon.take their "design rules for vanilla-like mechanics" for example.extremely restrictive to the point that anything added is either going to be a rehash of an existing vanilla mechanic/thing (the new weapons functionally being swords with gimmicks), extremely underbaked (making clay pots), or useless fluff (new tree variants).the most complex thing you can get is a rework of an existing thing thats ultimately meaningless (cave update) or completely misses the point of the way it was originally (nether update, worldgen overhaul)

I also checked stormfront out of curiosity, hoping to see some uber based chudness. but also there, just the same things I saw on twitter. this is devastating.
terrain generation
>>738233428For terrain I use Tectonic. It's a good compromise between large mountains, smoother lowlands and overall scale without getting retardedly huge like Lithosphere. Biomes are whatever, pick whichever one looks best to you. William Wythers is really good for vanilla biomes, but if you're on 1.20.1 or 1.21.1 for mods the old growth tree biomes are a tad fucked.

>taking over an ancient city, cleared the shriekrs and most sculk>have to raise the roof and hole for my happey ghasts, take out the wrecked buildings and remake the streets and build waterways around them and new villager buildings with different items and professions, build a road to the second unexplored ancient city nearby, then keep sprucing it up with glowberries and trees and shit >choice paralysis adhd brain won’t let me focus on what to do first so I just do a couple things, quit and go play something else then come back for an hourHow do I know what to do first?
>>738234760simple: im going to tell you to raise the roof and make a hole first.having the happy ghast port will make moving materials around easier.
>>738234760You aren't going to be able to do any of the other stuff you've got planned if you don't address the ruined buildings first. Aside from maybe raising the roof, but how often are you really coming and going from this place that airlift accessibility is a priority?
>>738233349I'm starting to rethink 3-block tall interiors...
>>738234887Oh I guess I didn't make it clear; I already dug the hole, I still need to raise the roof universally to make it less cramped overall>>738234910True. (or maybe a ladder on the side of the hole that goes to the top that plays noteblock Snake Eater as you climb it but I don't know what to do for that yet)

>>738238625>>738238515these are both true and do not exclude the other
>>738238625It's retarded how many block types, biomes and mobs were added while adding so little to the game. The additions are essentially disposable - you play with them once and never use them again either 'cause they're either a pain in the ass to get or they're completely superficial.
>>738238515>>738238625>>738238870You'd think with all the shit they've added to the game, they would have come up with some sort of addition to the most annoying mechanic: hungerinstead, ever since it was introduced, the best way to deal with hunger has just been to farm cows or pigs and eat steaks/porkchopsYou wouldn't even need to add anything new to make the mechanic more interesting either>combine steak, porkchop, chicken and a bowl to make "meaty stew" which gives a benefit of much longer satiety>combine cooked meats + potato + carrot to make "hearty stew" which gives a benefit of an extra heart of health until you lose two hunger icons>combine steak + bread + beetroot to make "steak sandwich" which slightly increases movement speedetc etcIf you really wanted to you could add in a cooking bench/table for the new recipes
>>738239062Hunger mechanic is retarded to begin with. It just creates busywork, while I'd prefer to spend that time roaming and exploring.I'd like to see a return to the roots, i.e. there's no sprint and food is unstackable and straight up heals you. The cooked food gives regen and special buffs based on the dish, with the heartier the meal, the better the buff.Which naturally leads to the potions getting buffed to actually be useful for once (and not after setting up like 10 farms and autobrewer).
Not to be that guy and say "mods fix it", but I do think mods fix it. Minecraft is a massive IP and can't please everybody. Just consider that any real mechanical change at this point would make probably make literally millions of people unhappy, and many people who might enjoy the change might still just be like "well, the modpack still does this better", then why would you bother upsetting the status quo?

Added survival but never ever expanded on the survival mechanics to where it meant anything.Vintage Story Actually has a real story, content and survival mechanics and even in that game its not enough. If you're going to go survival you better go all out.

The problem was halfway through the whole mansion was on fire and from a distance i saw Pillagers burning alive and i started feeling terrible and hated the violence i was committing. I was dripped with 12g shells, armour and healing items making me effectively invulnerable but i saw those grey skinned fucks suffering and it all changed. I drowned myself in the nearby lake knowing everyone was dead with or without my influence knowing the fire got to them. I felt disgusting perpetuating violence and hatred. I prefer the modern version of Minecraft to the old one. I do feel a bit nostalgic about it, but that’s about it. New features are often half-baked, but it’s still better than nothing.>>738246518It's fine if you just want to try out different mods and can't be bothered to make your own mod list.
>>738244092Honestly I think villagers were a big mistake. There was something very eery- but really invigorating- about being the only sentient being in the entire game. There was this crushing loneliness that isn't there when you can just walk five minutes in any direction and find a small town of gossiping retards who will all inexplicably perish within days if you don't fence their homes in for them.
>>738246670More interested in the questbook, just throwing a bunch of mods together doesn't replicate that at all.
>>738246732i remember when Notch said on his blog that he wanted to have pigmen villagers and i was in full support of it until i saw the fucking ugly ass jewish villagers that actually got added years later. >>738246936ATM quest books are more of a bonus tutorial than an actual quest book. Build each important block in the mod and get a small reward. All The Modium is the only interesting part, where you have to build shitload of blocks from different mods and combine them into a single special item, thereby completing the modpack

>>738239062The big problem with hunger beyond being so simple it's negligible, is that trying to revamp it will demand the player's time and playstyle to focus more and more on it, detracting from the overall experience unless you like the "Survival" types of mods, and since you get those mods explicitly wanting such mechanics, they can actually flesh it out to be good rather than passively annoying. That's kinda the biggest problem with Minecraft, it wants to be so many things but in order to not step on it's own toes, it can't commit to anything enough to really flesh it out or build itself up. Games like Terraria have clear progression and "stages" of the game, Minecraft doesn't change as you play or hit checkpoints, getting diamonds is something you get out of the way quickly and then you're just at the "Top" until you get around to netherite, but even then you're not obliged to, it's nice but not enough to make you feel like it's a necessary advancement. Most of the additions and mechanics of the game exist next to each other, rather than feeding into and interacting with each other, because they don't want to take away "Your" playstyle and make you do things you don't really want to. And that really leads into >>738239410Mods actually allow for focus/niche/interactions and connectivity with the content because it's catering to the niche who want specific things from the game, autism factories, ultra combat, dungeon crawls, city building, exploration, horror, "Vanilla+", Survival, all different feels that'd ruin the experience for fans of the other styles, but, on their own, able to chosen and utilized by the player, actually gives you the "Minecraft" you want.
