Is there literally any other game as effortlessly perfect aesthetically as this game? There are countless weird/nonsensical indie games that have released in the last 20 years but somehow they feel derivative and like they're trying too hard. I've never experienced anything like killer7 since I've played it.

There are a bunch of games that are pretty perfectly matched in their aesthetic. I don't know if all of them are as good as Killer 7 but I'd say that the following all come pretty close if not exceed Killer 7:

It's just not as stylish. Killer 7 can be a chore to play at times but the voice work, character design, and the way that your enemies explode into 'blood' is so fucking cool. KiD is solid and probably does have more fun moment to moment gameplay than NMH (which is a slog outside of boss fights and about half the boss fights aren't much fun either) and Killer 7 but doesn't leave as much of a mark on you when you finish it.

I played through it for the first time recently and enjoyed it, but it definitely lacks Suda's touch when it comes to the narrative. came off feeling like it was missing some spice. I was reading over some of the cut content and the evil Travis idea sounded amazing (Chillout)

The main thing I remember from KiD was being baffled at how the gigolo sections made ogling hot women as boring as it did. I guess it played better than NMH and it was the game that made me want to finally buy a PS3, but overall it was just kind of alright. Maybe I should replay it sometime.

depends on your tastes. the narrative picks up later, but placebo is meant to be a more eagle's eye view of its brother chapter (transmitter was written by Suda, placebo is another writer named Masahi Ooka).

Ooka is a novelist so it's a bit more wordy than Suda's narrative

I found a use for everyone except for Coyote. Never did use him for much beyond his lock and key abilities. I'm not one for confrontation though so my standby was definitely Kaede.

I am playing through Killer 7 bit by bit. One gripe I have is movement which feels on rails instead of freely moving around which should've been that but still keep you locked in during combat. Other than the game is pretty damn good.

Dan is sorta like the baseline character they balanced the game around, he's always good. the actual broken one is Kevin (infinite ammo and invis). I like Con a lot but he doesn't scale very well.

Is Unreal Engine just unable to make graphics like this?

All "cel shaded" shit I've seen for the engine never looks even remotely as good as K7, NMH or other stuff like Red Steel and Madworld

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes looks closer to killer7 than anything I have ever seen from an Unreal game. Unity and Godot games seem to have better luck with cel shading than anything under the UE wing.
I wholeheartedly think there's an underlying problem with the engine when not even Fortnite can manage to make appealing cel shaded characters with their hundreds of millions of dollars
