we’re in a tight killer7 thread
>>738230487Is there literally any other game as effortlessly perfect aesthetically as this game? There are countless weird/nonsensical indie games that have released in the last 20 years but somehow they feel derivative and like they're trying too hard. I've never experienced anything like killer7 since I've played it.
Dan is so cool. I wish he got his own game.
>>738230664Just play other Suda games.
>>738231675I feel that Killer is Dead is underrated and constantly lives in the shadow of Killer7 and NMH despite being more fun to play than either.
>>738230664You're gonna have to elaborate more on what you mean tbdesu
The russian roulette cutscene is the greatest cutscene in video game history.
>>738230664There are a bunch of games that are pretty perfectly matched in their aesthetic. I don't know if all of them are as good as Killer 7 but I'd say that the following all come pretty close if not exceed Killer 7:Hotel DuskJet Set RadioSpace Invaders ExtremeCatherineMad WorldWorld of HorrorEmily Is AwayFAITHHotline Miami>>738231753It's just not as stylish. Killer 7 can be a chore to play at times but the voice work, character design, and the way that your enemies explode into 'blood' is so fucking cool. KiD is solid and probably does have more fun moment to moment gameplay than NMH (which is a slog outside of boss fights and about half the boss fights aren't much fun either) and Killer 7 but doesn't leave as much of a mark on you when you finish it.
>>738230664the TSC and 25th ward remasters are definitely up there >>738231753I played through it for the first time recently and enjoyed it, but it definitely lacks Suda's touch when it comes to the narrative. came off feeling like it was missing some spice. I was reading over some of the cut content and the evil Travis idea sounded amazing (Chillout)
>>738233569hotline miami is great, I feel like monochrome is a cliche and only madworld pulled it off well
>>738230885COLLATERAL SHOT!
>>738233371For sure
>>738233668I started The Silver Case a few weeks ago but got to the private investigator chapter and got so bored
>>738231753The main thing I remember from KiD was being baffled at how the gigolo sections made ogling hot women as boring as it did. I guess it played better than NMH and it was the game that made me want to finally buy a PS3, but overall it was just kind of alright. Maybe I should replay it sometime.
>>738233735you're breaking red's heart
>>738233859does it get better though?
>>738233894depends on your tastes. the narrative picks up later, but placebo is meant to be a more eagle's eye view of its brother chapter (transmitter was written by Suda, placebo is another writer named Masahi Ooka). Ooka is a novelist so it's a bit more wordy than Suda's narrative
>>738230487started playing this recentlyam I just stupid or are Kaede and Keven the only personalities worth using
>>738233943can I skip the PI chapters or do they add to the narrative?
>>738233981the Tokio chapters explain some of the stuff that happens in the main narrative, but you can skip it if you want>>738233949I only really use Dan and MASK
>>738233949Keep playing you will use them at least once each assassin
>>738233949Dan solos
>>738233981>PI chaptersWhich ones are that?
>>738233949I found a use for everyone except for Coyote. Never did use him for much beyond his lock and key abilities. I'm not one for confrontation though so my standby was definitely Kaede.>I changed my makeup. Did you notice? Men...they never notice...these kinds of things.
>>738234023I've finished the first two chapters, I know there are points where you're forced to use each character's special abilities but when it comes to combat it just seems like everyone but Kaede/Kevin is crippled>>738234021>>738234026are Dan's charge bullets that good?
>>738234021I'll give it another shot, maybe it picks up but everything seems a bit difficult to follow even in the summary chapter
I am playing through Killer 7 bit by bit. One gripe I have is movement which feels on rails instead of freely moving around which should've been that but still keep you locked in during combat. Other than the game is pretty damn good.
>>738234121Dan is sorta like the baseline character they balanced the game around, he's always good. the actual broken one is Kevin (infinite ammo and invis). I like Con a lot but he doesn't scale very well.
>>738230487The gameplay is basic as hell and kinda easy to trivialize but the game is kinda mesmerizing regardless. Was kinda surprised to hear that the game is ~20hrs long, was expecting it to be more like 5-8 given the style of it..>>738230664Digital Devil Saga and SMT3 come to mind>>738234263The dogshit movement system feels like an integral part of it imo, if it was a sensible TPS with FP aiming it'd me like any other game
>>738230664>I've never experienced anything like killer7 since I've played it.Your problem is that once you experience weird shit every other weird shit is going to feel like it's trying too hard, not trying hard enough, missing the point, or derivative.
>>738234847it's 7 hourshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7j0cnKCZrg
>>738234949of course it's way shorter when you know exactly what you're doing
The amount of allegory got kind of tiring after a point.
Is Unreal Engine just unable to make graphics like this? All "cel shaded" shit I've seen for the engine never looks even remotely as good as K7, NMH or other stuff like Red Steel and Madworld
>>738235231It can, it's just an engine you can make any shader you want>then why does no one-low poly cel shading isn't trendy in big studios, fortnite/OW and realism aresome indie games imitate the shading but it takes more skilled artists to match the style and quality
>>738230885when I first saw killer is dead I thought he was the protagonist
I finished watching twin peaksI *really* like weird but powerful dream-like shit with a fuckton of melodrama on the side....
>>738235389>>738235389Lorelei and the Laser Eyes looks closer to killer7 than anything I have ever seen from an Unreal game. Unity and Godot games seem to have better luck with cel shading than anything under the UE wing. I wholeheartedly think there's an underlying problem with the engine when not even Fortnite can manage to make appealing cel shaded characters with their hundreds of millions of dollars
>>738233894No it doesn't "get better" you fucking mongoloid, it's already amazing from the start and you're just a bitch.Besides if you didn't quit yet you will definitely quit at the chapter at the apartment block because that one's even slower
I like the HD collection on Steam. Shame that Suda51 keeps focusing more on comedic games because Killer7 is still my favorite. I hope Romeo Must Die ends up being good :C
>>738239097it's style over substance, the style is great but if you think Suda51 is a story-telling genius you're delusional
