And I know there's some mechs to yoink but you are going on foot or in a car for a good deal of it. The book accompanying this one was pretty depressing, in a good way, and I think added to the worldbuilding of brigador quite nicely. The characters were all memorable and the book did occasionally pull at my emotional strings. It makes a lot of sense that the author said he was going through some rough shit while writing it.
