This game is fucking unplayable after the regular difficulty. Literally just spamming UTs / flying swallows because if you don't you die to explosions. How is this even fun?

It isn't at that point. Later releases try to make something fun out of it.
>>
>>738234018
it isn't, that's why they changed it. the people you see that prop it up have never played it on master ninja.

i remember being massively dissapointed when this came out because Ninja gaiden 1 was really good and ninja gaiden black was even better. so i had the impression that if they made a sequel, it would logically be something like ninja gaiden black because they wouldnt have made the updated version unless they thought it was better in some way and how they wanted the future of the franchise to play. ninja gaiden 2 seems spastic by comparison and like a lot of games during that generational leap, the tone and ambience of the game got completely lost in translation moving from xbox to xbox 360 somehow. i think its just a case of devs having access to more, and them not having restraint and them trying to use as much as they can. which translated into dynasty warrior esque fights where individual enemies didnt seem as dangerous and you just encounter 2 or 3 times as many and it made the game seem retarded and cartoony.

the meta for this game on higher difficulties is autistic and retarded so i never bothered trying to get through it. its too much i frame abuse and execution animation spam. its just really lame and when i see someone doing it it reminds me of certain arcade SHMUP games where you need to utilize the miniscule undersized hitbox of your ship to navigate the 200 bullets on the screen. its all flash and the gameplay suffers.

i would just encourage you to stick with NGB if you want a more honest no bullshit challenge, and to master the mechanics and see if you can beat very hard or master ninja mode. its a good feeling.

it's a shame cause the first playthrough of NGII is very very fun

forgot to mention that itagaki never got to finish NG2 from what ive heard which is part of why it shipped in the state it did. he may have left the company as well before they even made the sigma version for NG2. with more time idk how much more balanced it would be. but it would have probably been better. NGB feels very balanced and fair despite being hard and probably has more DOA fighting game dna in it. and the sequel i feel like they were taking inspiration from other stuff because the 2 seem like they were made from different studios. if you had told me they outsourced the team id have believed it.

Literally the exact same as NGB lmao

2 spams explosions because it expects you to engage the long iframe decapitations. those arent in ngb.

the first playthrough is alright. i honestly didnt like it much my first time playing it. back when NGB came out my friend group was really deep into that game and i liked it so much i joined a forum that was made JUST for that game because i liked everything about it so much. i hate to phrase it like this but the "flow" of NGB is completely different than NG2.

what i really enjoyed about NGB is the world felt real, while also felt simultaneously magical with some fantasy elements, but not anything too absurd and most of the weirder shit in that game wasnt very common. NG2 jumped the shark and just went too far with everything which is one reason why i think the vibe of the game is different. too many megastructures and overly flashy unrelated locations that felt like they were from different games. i felt like the scope of NGB was a lot tighter in general. its a minor complaint but NG2 having a whole werewolf arc is an example of what im talking about. im not going to say that NGB had A tier design for every enemy but then you have the retarded looking 8 foot tall chainsaw/cannonball zombies, and so much other dumb shit that the game just felt really improvised like they said fuck it.

basically NGB felt like they were crafting a world that would be semi coherent and in NG2 i feel like they just said fuck it with way too many things.

i thought this one was even worse and you can tell how little they cared by having the enemy spam the same "FUCK YOU" or whatever phrase like 5 times in some fights and like 30 times over the course of a level. the details give you a hint about the design process of a game.

Oof.

I wish they made a version of this without steel on bone. The combat is so good in this but SoB was pure cheese.

Pros play on normal

NGB has no execution spam because its not trying to be gears of war.
>i frame abuse
its pretty minimal. i cant think of any action game that doesnt have a small degree of it. NGB2 has way too much purely because they felt the need to pump so many enemies into every fight. its there on purpose and artificially. its not a byproduct.

in NGB its completely feasible to beat the game on harder difficulty modes not spamming stupid shit because its simply a more balanced and polished game. with a bit of practice a determined player could probably at the bare minimum beat hard mode without using an ultimate technique one time. it would take time to get good but it wouldnt be something outrageously challenging if someone wanted to do it. because there isnt so much autistic shit happening on screen, on the harder dificulty modes you also are not so restricted in the attacks and strings you use either. which is another good sign that a game is polished and balanced.
