for me, its Pokemon Shield for the nintendo switch.

I'm guessing he's referring to how Champions encourages owning the official games to transfer your mons there for competitive use.
>>
>>738235272
This is the opposite of healing when a shit game compels you to buy a even shittier game so much prices start rising, ayy lmao.
>>
>>738235272
the Pokemon game price autism only affects GBA+DS games. It starts at Pokemon Crystal and ends at B2W2.

Scalpers and nostalgiafags don't care about 3DS games and beyond.

>>738236098
that's an official game?
I thought it was a chinese knock-off coombait gacha game
some of the dialog I've seen here HAS to be fake at least

Pokemon Champions requires you to either grind for hundreds of hours to get new pokemon, or to just import them from other games. I'm guessing people would rather just catch a pokemon in BDSP and then transfer it over going thru the random lottery every day and then grind battle-points in-game with Champions to adjust stats and moves.

That's because they can't price the games over $80, when people can just buy the same game digitally for $80 in the online store. There's never going to be a $250 Shining Diamond game selling anywhere until the Switch eshop gets shut down entirely and is offline.

digital availability is irrelevant when piracy is rampant.
Anyone can incredibly easily emulate GBA/DS games, even pirate 3DS stuff.
People who buy these games are looking for the authentic and original stuff to play/collect regardless. And the outragerous prices are because of the demand those games have. No one cares to buy authentic XY copies, so that's why they're still $40, meanwhile autists want to play B2W2 or HGSS or Platinum, so those copies go for $200+

As I said, it's a mixture of brainwashed nostalgiafags who were told everything after gen 5 sucked and the only gens worth playing are 2 through 5.

only paywalled mons and mega-stones are from Pokémon Legends ZA. I don't see why you would need to buy the other games except for maybe Legends Arceus (not getting fucked by rng and getting a female basculegion)

i have a completed box of all the best mons and im a completely f2p player and spent only a couple hundred quick tickets (which you get for free for doing the tutorial) and filled in the blanks with pokemon go. There is no grinding or buying games needed (other than ZA mons but if you beg enough on 4chan someone will give them to you for free)

I got tired of Pokémon during gen 4, skipped gen 5 and got back in with gen 6. Around the time gen 7 was coming out I decided to pick gen 5 up and I was lucky enough to find both White and White 2 used at Game Stop for like 8€ each. It was 2016 but I recall they were already being price-gouged online back then.

Not really, man. Prices were still normal before covid. You could grab a CIB HGSS or B2W2 copy for $50 back in 2018-2019 because no one was "hoarding" them or speculating on the fucking Pokemon games that sold millions upon millions of copies.

Covid fucked up the retro game market in general because it created a shitstorm of scalpers and a market of people who wanted "things to play with during the quarantine" and prices never recovered since then. It affected not only Pokemon games but a lot of other retro games too.
>>
>>738239572
How many pokemon are available in Champions, anyway? I heard there were a lot that weren't useable.
>>

I didn't mean price gouging in the "games being sold for tens of thousands of dollars sense" like they are now, that's ridiculous and an obvious scam. I meant in the sense of being able to find old games for cheap and not a (however slight) premium over their original MSRP. That is what used to be normal unless it was a very old game with a notoriously low print run. I remember Pokémon games already being somewhat hard to find cheap despite them being printed in extremely large quantities.
