AP4 hive guards aren't hard they're just annoying for cucking guard dogs and MG sentries
Spore titans aren't hard they are just an AT check when 6 crawl out of the same bug breach and have extra head HP
Forced deaths from malicious code governing sentry friendly fire and ragdoll impact damage don't enhance difficulty, especially since you get 20+ respawns, they just feel bad

The game was broken at launch with difficulty that could range from stupidly easy to insanely hard depending on if you had cross play enabled or not. They did all their first balance passes during the first months where gameplay bugs caused players to 1-shot the strongest enemies.

They also liked to nerf entire groups of weapons right before releasing dlc for the same class of weapon. Why they made flamers useless on the flamethrower dlc patchday I'll never understand. They walked that one back pretty fucking fast after getting super review bombed.

i didn't really mind the change to heavy armor as bugs were already kinda mindless, having to aim a little is already a good change in my book
But then MG/HMG turrets become yet another piece of equipment that arrowhead has decided to make completely useless.
All they had to do was to make turrets prioritize targets they can actually destroy.

You know I'd argue you could make all of this work with a competent developer giving a shit. Imagine an AP4 hive guard that would get staggered by bullet impacts / surpressed. Maybe he'd imobilize himself and act like a shield for softer bugs until its armour is broken? And if sufficient hits could strip away and eventually destroy armour from everything.

What if instead of propelling themselves at you at mach 5 the new speeder bugs would slowly ramp up speed with a clear functional audio cue? What if you could make them fall over and stumble with stun grenades or when shooting them?

All I see is ideas for fun and great enemy interactions but we get the tedious Temu version instead.

I had a blast with this game when it came out. Played it for half a year. Eventually I just hit a wall and i immediately stopped caring about it. I downloaded it again when they added the aliens and it was cool for a few days, but overall the game just lacks content. Once you've seen the massive bugs and blown a few up there's just nothing left to do. Running around looking for samples, blowing up a few buildings, destroying hives it's just all the same shit. I'd push through if the community challenges made a difference but they don't. They love to pretend they have big plans, lore matters and community performance changes the climate of the game, but none of that is true.

That’s because there *is* nothing left. The “live service war effort” is just a treadmill with different colored backdrops. You realize at some point you’re not liberating planets, you’re just rolling the same 6 objectives with a different skybox while the devs nudge percentages behind the curtain.

The aliens update proved it too. New faction, cool aesthetic, different weakspots… and after 3 ops you’ve already solved them. There’s no emergent depth, no new systems, just “shoot glowing part until it dies” again. The illusion cracks once you see the spawn director is basically vibes-based.

Community objectives not actually changing anything is the real killer. If we win? Scripted victory. If we lose? Also scripted. Might as well be playing a singleplayer game with fake Twitch chat scrolling at the top.

It’s a fun 50–100 hour arcade shooter pretending to be a forever war MMO. Once that clicks, uninstalling feels natural.
