Are there any mechanics in games that you absolutely detest?
>>738244892That blendy takes so long
>>738244892HungerWeapon durability outside of survival games
>>738245582What?
>>738244892Yeah. When the game has no Akiha sex.
>>738246241This, thats why i will never play the demake.
>>738244892>Gear rarity in any game other than borderlands. If I find a cool looking sword - it should have stats to match.
checkpoint save system without the ability to save manually and no saves when exiting the game
Exploration on a time limit
No akiha footjobs
>>738246241For me it's>no option to side with Red Akiha in Kohaku route
>>738244892In one of the Alone in the Dark games you had to manually blink every few seconds or the whole screen became blurry.Never uninstalled a game so fast than this one
>>738246591I know that SCP game also used blinking as a mechanic, but what made it weird there was that you couldn't blink each eye separately when keeping a line of sight with the monster was the entire point.
>>738246941>>738246591Like, I get why from a game design standpoint, but it makes no sense when you can obviously blink only one eye at a time.
>>738246241That's a lot of games you detest.
>>738244892Tacked on crafting. If your game isn't satisfactory or rust or something like that it doesn't need it.
>>738245582
Who was Nasu's best tsundere?>Azaka>Akiha>Rin>Aoko
>>738244892Random stats gain after a levelup. Timed maps to force a fast playstyle. Enemy reinforcements out of nowhere.
Weapon degradation.System shock 2 and breath of the wild are notorious examples of this.I dont mind some but if i bought an axe and it shattered after 3 trees id beat to death the asshole who sold it to me with its remains.
>>738248329I think Dark Souls 2 on release on PC used to have a bug where weapons degraded at ludicrous speeds because degradation was tied to framerate.
>>738246027Anon, if you have to ask you'll never know
>>738248404When you put it that way, I doubt I want to know, to be honest...
>>738244892No I love vidya mechanics.
Red Garden doko...
Companions in rpgs having affinityIt just makes your character a sycophant
>>738244892>batman vision>see enemy outline through walls (particularly harmful for the stealth genre if it were to ever reemerge)>UI that facilitates marking enemies so you have an idea of their position at all times and can track them at all times. Sometimes even a mini map is counterproductive>yellow paint is a new version of batman visionMy scope is very narrow here because there's popularized mechanics that came into existence in 7th gen that I'm still bitching about to this day.
>>738244892I hate shoot being right trigger
Losing *all* your currency on death, especially when everything in the game is expensive as fuck. Dolls Nest springs to mind.
>>738249613Diablo 2 used to make you lose your entire equipment on death, you had to go back and recover it manually.
>>738248231Akiha
>>738248231Redpill incoming:Jalter
>>738251685If the names didn't give it away, I was thinking of the core Nasuverse mostly.
>>738251823But Jalter is from the only Nasuverse property that they actively focus on.
>>738244892yeah, when the game has no Akiha route.
craftinggatheringbase building
>Silent protagonists>Character creatorsWrite your own protagonist. Stop outsourcing your writing inability to me.
>>738251957Why is Ciel mad?
>>738252671She is consistently voted worst girl
>>738252695Even after the remake? Nasu tried really hard to make Ciel a lot more popular.
>>738252879Yeah well she's kinda the least-important heroine.Maybe Hisui?
Skill progression that give benefits to character stats in competitive PVP games (eg. Eve Online). Better way would be to have everybody have the same stats and a modular equipment system that dictates what you can do (eg. Foxhole).
I love this video game mechanic too.
>>738244892Real time combat games with hit/miss rolls for each attack.
>>738244892item durability, whether it's combat game or crafting simulator>oh yeah our gameplay is actually so pathetic that you need to spend most of your time gathering the same stupid materials to make the same stupid items over and over and over againMaybe if you died you had to repair shit out of shame, maybe that would work.>longsword>60 durability>legendary uber-zwarr katana>40 durabilityYeah swords will nick and lose their edge but this doesn't apply to blunt weapons unless they're made of wood or something. But hammers? You have either have to use a copper hammer on steel (to not scratch the steel) to deform it, or use the back end of an axe (it was made to keep an edge) to really see it deform much.Maybe if it's an MMO and you're desperate for money sinks then you can justify it>OH NO YOUR METAL PIPE BROEK!~!!!
>738254774Don't Starve is the worst offender of all time>make tent>you can sleep in it 3 times!!>better gather more sticks lol
>>738244892>>738246241>>738246296Played the original eons ago and I remember being upset that she didn't have proper route. It felt more like a bad ending, even tho she was the best girl.
>738254847The hunger meters are also in the same concept as item durability, except you're the item that breaks.>you have a limited time before you have to do X again or you lose!Everyone always hated this shit and it was called the underwater section where you can fucking drown. That's why people avoided it.WTF does hunger meter add to your game? Put a fishing rod in and a craftable grill and suddenly you have endless hours of fucking content. Your game is a sham. The only exceptions might be abiotic factor where the core gameplay loop is gathering new materials and technologies to research them but abiotic goes all in where you go to alternate dimensions and fight aliens for exotic shit. What the fuck is your game>you're in the wilderness lol>you're on a raft!!fuck you, your game is shit
Bosses who require a very specific set of skills done in a very exact pattern to defeat them because they punish "wrong" moves or a lack of DPS with instant kill moves. SMT has like a dozen of these.
>1 million variations of items and components>Everything automatically picks up>16 inventory slots
>>738245582whatever, I don't pay him so I can't really complain
>>738244892>boss is immune to status effects>>738252695Ciel is definitely a hard pill to swallow and my own least favorite, but the part in the original when shiki refuses to kill her which makes her break down convinced me she's earned a spot next to the other girls
>>738244892Anything related to crafting
>>738252695She's mad because her harem ending with Arc got cut.
