I wish I knew this was possible and worked so well...
Welcome to 2015, snoy
>>738248701People used to use this to type faster with the onscreen keyboard. Always wished shooters let this be an option. Especially lightgun games.
I fucking hate gyro.
This and TV remotes. How the fuck are they still so bad? You triple-press to register once and everything takes a couple seconds to get across.
>he never played ninja gaiden sigma 2ngmi
>>738248701Nintendo had obliterated the reputation of motion controls to the point where neither the developers nor the consumers wanted to hear anything about it anymore even it's a total game changer for gamepad controls. The gyroscope is RIGHT THERE in the fucking gamepad but the support is nonexistent, even people on 4chan who should be "in the know" don't actually know shit, like this cunt >>738249729 and are entirely clueless of what properly tuned gyro controls are capable of.Can only hope the stream controller creates at least a minor wave of adoption the same way steam deck gave birth to the portable PCs the way we know them now
>>738248701This is a thing? How do one achievement it?
>>738249941what held gyro back is xbox never adopting it so it wasn't feasible to make multiplats that rely heavily on gyro
>>738248885? playstation controllers were the first to do this, and they still do it best.
>>738248701Finally discovered modern gaming huh? Makes shooters so fucking good.>>738249941Idk about specifically Nintendo... Some games showcased it, others unfortunately just did the waggle trope. Then again even many of their games have the waggle trope so ehh...But the bad taste left in people's mouth is retarded and tragic. Its kinda like if a child raping serial killer ALSO legitimately found the cure for cancer but people reject it because child rape.... I mean you get it, but still a shame >>738249950On steam you just enable gyro as mouse >>738250072Then why tf would xbox STILL not add this? C'mon. I'm convinced xbox people are almost equal to blame as Nintendo. At least Nintendo introduced the gyro stuff
>>738248701Gyro is cool, but i really dont like using it because i like relaxing in weird positions when gaming and using gyro like that is just awkward
>>738249941Nintendo has the best gyro game thoughever
>>738252592yeah this. gyro is col if you sit like a fucking robot straight up with your arms out in front of you and your wife is getting railed by a wild pack of jeets in the next room.the rest of us play normally.
>>738249950Dualshock has a software on PC forgot how it's called but that one has the option
>>738252803you are clueless
>>738248701I like the idea of it with racing/driving games since I don't have a wheel yet. For aiming, mouse.
>>738252592You can dial in sensitivity. You don't need to flail like an ape, even marginally free movement is good enough for shooting.>>738252803>If you don't play at a desk ur a cuckOk then buddy.
>>738248701>looks like a fucking retard waggling on his couch >>738249650Dpad was/is still faster. People bought a mini keyboard if they cared enough.>>738249941Keep shilling it, it's been many years you've done this gyroschizo.
>>738252912mouse aiming is fucking soulless
>>738253009>PCfag hates using PC tool. Just stop playing videogames and go be gay somewhere else.
>>738253009>mouse aiming is fucking soullessNot an argument.
>>738252972that's great that you have your own little universe inside your head as it's a sign of a vivid imagination but no one knows what you're talking aboutalso, you're going to be okay lil bud, don't need to bark at everyone and please don't forget the little white pill you take every day
>>738253095PC games are dead lol
Microsoft and Xbox never implemented gyro in their controllers because old ass boomers deemed that joysticks were good enough for aiming. So big studios like Activision shitting out CoD releases every year never bothered to implement it since they're big multiplat release, and subsequently it would interfere with all the aim-assists code in those console shooters.
>>738248701What? But it works
>>738253108First of all tourist, learn2reply properly and secondly there's a fag or dedicated shilling gyro group that have been doing it for years. Nobody cares about them to the point that no one else archived it like "Fabio" "Eric" or "Barry" characters on here.>>738253163PC games are trash and ran by bots or played by thirdies so no shit everyone who's human play console games on PC.
this redpilled me on gyro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJIqEX93vL8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSu4nAH1gm0it works amazingly well, and with flickstick I would even argue that it's objectively better than a mouse overall, since you can have professional tier flicks instantly without any training. >>738252912But for racing games I've never found a way to make it work.
>>738253385>he posted it againlol like clockwork, post the CSGO one next time lmao.
>>738248885The clip in OP is a 2013 playstation controller.
>>738253097I mean it kinda is. I can't explain the joy you feel when you 1 hand gyro decapitate someone with a shotgun. The catharsis is real. Especially literally pulling a trigger, not just clicking
>>738253372console games aren't designed for MKB lol
>>738253489Nigga go play some fucking VR games right the fuck now it's literally built for you
>>738249941>these companies have DECIMATED gyro controls. Ugh, they barely even work!>steam on the otherhand...holy shill shut the fuck up
>>738253489>decapitate someone with a shotgun How do you do fellow FPS gamers. >>738253529Yes and? Ex consolefags mass immigrated to Steam in between 2012 and 2016. They knew M&K was default.
>>738248701Name games that can use this. This is a waggle gimmick, call me back when I can use this in Deus Ex.
>>738253394>But for racing games I've never found a way to make it work.It requires practice ngl, I tested a couple hours and it was really difficult to turn in FH5 and maintain precision without spinning out. Of course with max realistic settings.>>738253489It's something subjective, I myself cannot explain the joy of flicking and raping asses in comp or even casual sp games. It is subjective, therefore, not an objective argument. I for one don't feel crippled by using a two handed peripheral to aim awkwardly.
>>738252710The games are good, the gyro implementations are subpar.
>>738253717The shilling campaign has received increased funds since that new controller launched huh?
>>738253394>CS has a circle on the radar now to show where your footsteps can be heardholy training wheels babby game
>>738253665You can use it on any game you like on PC. Gyro works similarly enough to mouse which btw is a motion controller that you can just bind it to that.
>>738253831CS was only a serious game 20 years ago or so.
>>738253818Are you calling me a shill? Or adding to my comment? I'm not that fond of gyro if it's the former.
>>738253914Sorry, i misread your post. There's a gyro shilling campaign on /v/ since a few days doe.
Nightmare with semi-automatic weapons, no software dampening will keep you on target as you're mashing a button and shaking the controller. This is why Splatoon weapons are all automatic or hold+release, only melee weapons require mashing.Dampening will throw your tracking off and same thing for a dedicated gyro button you release. Precision aiming is better than with just a stick, but it falls apart when you start actually shooting. Comparing it to a mouse is just a joke.
>>738250072Even PlayStation exclusives don't use gyro aiming though, and they've had it available for 20 years soon.Killzone, Uncharted, Resistance, Ratchet & Clank each have loads of games across various PlayStations. How many of them support gyro aiming? Out of dozens of games, just one. Killzone Mercenary for PS Vita.
>>738254047A shilling campaign for a feature shared by virtually all modern gamepads?
>>738253664>How do you do fellow FPS gamers. Is this supposed to mock fps, or imply i don't play them? Its not even a flex to say you shot someone in game, it's saying flicking your wrist to snap shot FEELS good>>738253665Literally every fucking game with steam input. Do you live under a rock???
My problem with gyro is my problem with HDRI recognize it as a great technology... whenever set up properly, and that's the issue. It's not a fucking toggle, it's not properly implemented in games, it requires some setup, I'm annoyed by the prospect of going game by game and tweaking the controls just so I can get gyro working.I don't blame anyone here but Microsoft because they cockblocked this technology from becoming a standard for third parties they would definitely more frequently use as an option or even default. I am entirely convinced that the industry didn't move forward with gyro purely and very strictly because of Microsoft. I'm not even kidding here, I say this with confidence.
>>738254129Except microsoft'sNow you know who's moaning so much
>>738253869If you are so great, say how. And I mean Deus Ex 2000, standalone program on Windows, not Steam.
>>738254087Gridshot is semi-auto and people seem to do just fine with it.https://www.youtube.com/shorts/OAYmOgbw_5s
>>738254087Automatics are low skill ceiling and Splatoon is for children, no shit retard.>>738254129Wasn't happening daily weeks ago, keep it up anon and i lurk a few hours top.>>738254189Mocking the poster obviously because that sounded gay and retarded.
>>738254101Some third parties like Nioh 1&2 did on PS5, which iirc removed gyro from Nioh 3 when it went multiplat day 1(and from the sound of it, will be ported to either XSX or Switch 2 eventually. Maybe both?).
>>738249732Smart TVs have weak processors and low ram to minimize cost.
>>738253763Nope, Splatoon has the best gyro implementation ever
>>738254331Use a remapper. Steam Input is the most common but there's also JoyShockMapper (hope you enjoy text files) and some others. Then just bind gyro to mouse with appropriate settings and bind the rest of your buttons. Remappers aren't exactly uncommon on PC.
>>738254363Oh, so you are calling anyone saying anything good about gyro retarded. Gotcha.
>>738254295Funny because when the 360 was the best system to play on, everyone laughed at the gay Wii motion controllers and Steam wasn't as popular as Xbox Live.Snoys nor Bots cared about this shit. It's astroturfed.
No one cared about gyro aiming until Nintendo popularized it with Splatoon
>>738254394Nah it's fairly ass.>lots of smoothing>input lag on Switch>couldn't even set up sensitivity per-axis until Splat 3>arbitrary sensitivity values>weird behavior in edge cases like fast, diagonal movementsProbably more I couldn't think of right now.
>>738254429Not everyone is retarded but you're retarded for not understanding what's happening.
>>738254538barely anyone outside of japan cares about splatoon desu
>>738254569That's your opinion
>>738254513Wii tried adopting it, but the industry was unwilling to actually fully use it, neither were players, which didn't help. Gyro for shooting is absolutely the best implementation of gyro, and xbox at this point is holding shit back.
>>738254425>JoyShockMapper (hope you enjoy text files)there's a fork with gui now
>>738254352That aim test isn't representing character movement. There's no tracking, the balls are just shifting around. You cannot keep a semi-auto weapon firing on a player effectively as they're moving. Dampening will slow the aim every time you fire.
>>738254569There's probably 500 mentally challenged adults from the West on that game desu.
>>738254513And then you followed suit and you released the Kinect which was even a bigger fucking joke.
>>738254649Frag FX(?) controler hybrid was never shilled and it's something that doesn't make you waggle around like an autist.
>>738254668What the hell do you even mean by dampening?Either way, this works fine, even involving the left stick. Can't be arsed to find you a clip right now. You won't change your uninformed opinion on gyro anyway.
>>738248701This is the only thing that makes Pragmata playable on PS5, i have no idea how xbox owners even play that game properly.
>>738254739I was on the PS3 mind you and Sixaxis was pointless outside a few games. Kinect was mocked because it was a SURVEILLANCE device.
>>738248701Bro... I told you about this a decade ago.
>>738254654interesting
>>738254832Maybe Xbots aren't weirdos.
>>738254815Dampening is a software thing so if you trigger pull, the sensitivity goes down. Effectively reduces trigger pull throwing gyro off.
>>738254832Honestly I've played with those limited controls and it's still manageable. But being able to aim and use the face buttons at the same time is definitely helpful. The only people opposed to gyro are truly fucking troglodytes
>>738254940Just don't use that?
I honestly can't think of a game where this would be helpful.Either I play games that are controller heavy, like Monster Hunter or Elden Ring.Or I play with mouse and keyboard.
>>738249941>Nintendo had obliterated the reputation of motion controlsoh yeah they obliterated it by giving people the best motion controls in the industry back in 2007
>>738254996That's just what you're supposed to do. People in these threads would tell you to ditch the fork and spoon to eat with your hands because it's faster.
>>738254989Dampening or gyro??I like Gyro, and I don't even enable that, a good analog trigger on hair trigger mostly solves it anyway >>738255038They made people think it was just waggle, maybe not on purpose, but that was the result
>>738254996>Monster HunterBowguns>Elden RingBows
>>738255194Dampening. If it throws off gyro aim, disable it. What's even the benefit of it? I've never even heard of that feature.Btw, I found this video which has a lot of pistol usage in CS2 in it. Seems to do fine moving, aiming and clicking for semi-auto fire.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSu4nAH1gm0
>>738255110>food analogy
>>738255338No. You don't understand, it's the opposite With dampening OFF, You pull trigger, aim jumps, because pulling tilts controlDampening sees you pulled and says "lets pitch this down slightly to compensate" and it doesn't jumpThink of it like a pistol compensator.
>>738255194>They made people think it was just wagglethat's on people being retarded, not nintendo
>>738255194>They made people think it was just waggle, maybe not on purpose, but that was the resultyeah did you ever try to get a non-gamer to play something a bit more intricate like boom blox? I have PTSD over family members repeatedly and consistently failing to get their wiimote pointer on the screen every time it was their turn.the issue is that normalfags are idiots and they drive the world
>>738254832>This is the only thing that makes Pragmata playable on PS5I played it on PC with mouse and it felt good to play. I never thought about that's it's like on consoles.
>>738255472rebind fire to a button other than trigger
>>738255472Truth to be told, I'm quite active in the gyro community and I've never heard of anyone using something like that. It just doesn't seem necessary. I couldn't even tell you how to set that up in Steam Input. It sounds more like some thing stick-aimers would use to get something approaching accuracy paired with speedy flicks.
>>738255627Well your thumb is either aiming on the stick or on the face buttons, since hacking needs both at the same time it helps having an alternative aim method so you can hack faster unless you are expert on the claw grip. It also helps to keep the pulse carbine on target by tilting the controller slightly down
>>738255525Fair. I'm less likely to blame Nintendo, but results are results, however blame flies>>738255630Kinda inevitable whichever button, and I think trigger is still best and intuitive. But any button applies pressure and moves gyro. Its a minor drawback of gyro, that movements, button presses, ect, very slightly throw it off, even heart beat if its sensitive enough.I'd say the benefits still generally outweigh a mouse because its so reactive however >>738255702Really? Trigger dampening? Its already in steam input, has been for a while
>>738256040Holy shit it actually exists. I've not majorly edited any of my configs for a long time so I must have just glossed over it.Point stands though. None of the gyro enthusiasts I'm in contact with use it to my knowledge. I'd assume it's one of those beginner crutch features Valve does add to SI, similar to deadzone. Sure, you can set a deadzone on gyro, but it's a terrible idea.
>>738248701>>738248701>>738249941Some anon said the track pads are better than Gyro.
>>738255702>I'm quite active in the gyro community>>738256212>None of the gyro enthusiasts I'm in contact witheveryone thinks their particular in-group is the authority
>>738256258That anon is full of shit. Touchpads are far better than sticks because they're a direct input method like gyro and mouse but you're controlling it with just a thumb, that's simply not enough range of motion for high precision. Mouse and gyro can use your entire arm.
>>738256212It kinda is, i find a firm grip makes it irrelevant, but I mean, it is there ...As for deadzone on GYRO....ehhh....i could see it useful for shit like primary mouse games like ftl using gyro to mouse, but filtering jitters? Idk. More options are good.Still fucking LIVID they changed edge scroll on pad to ONLY activate when you start from center and hit the edge, that RUINED one of my layouts, and nobody ever fixed that shit.Fuck you valve, at least let me double layer pad layouts to fix it.
>>738251974>purreisutesyong is baestoh yes I love accidentally emoting in fucking Elden Ring during boss fights
>>738256303If you know a more knowledgeable and skilled community at the topic at hand than the Gyro Gaming Discord please let me know. These people have been obsessively researching this one topic for over a decade lol. The main developer of Steam Input is part of the people I'm talking about.
>>738256258No way that's true
light bowgunning on rise with gyro was peak comfy for me, is anyone a knower as to if it's possible to play rise on pc using ds4's gyro?
>>738248701Is there a list of games with gyro controls setup? What game would help me git gud at gyro aiming? Also, why aren't flight games/racing games giving people gyro steering as option?I always liked the idea of this "gimmick" but it was either underused or set up like shit
>>738256967Literally any game on steam, or that you can add to steam as non steam game, for starters
>>738256967If you want to try native support boomer shooters are a good option. There's Woof/Nugget for Doom, Ironwail for Quake and Yamagi for Quake 2.
>>738256967Only DS5 gyro (so far) works on a few games by default without relying on Steam Input. I think death loop supports it, death stranding 2 but not 1, and pragmata as well. It'd be easier to find how many games have gyro support on PS5 and see if they have PC ports. On something like a steam controller you're gonna have to setup gyro by yourself but the good news is, that means every fucking game "supports" gyro. You just gotta find the right setup though. On that note I hate older games that don't handle switching controls between kb+m and controller well. I tried using mouse for gyro on deus ex HR, and the only way to handle that well is if I create a whole layout with PC shortcuts. The problem about these games with gamepad support is that even UI elements are different depending on which input method you use. And gyro as joystick is definitely worse and makes gyro not good
>>738257771>Only DS5 gyro (so far) works on a few games by default without relying on Steam InputOnly true if that proprietary Sony API is used. Games that implement gyro using SDL like these >>738257326 should work with pretty much any controller that features it. Even Steam Controllers sans Steam.
>>738257143>>738257326>>738257771>all games work as long i spend time digging between steam control settingsbless Gaben>>738256624https://steamcommunity.com/app/1446780/discussions/0/3122675677663216073/ there's a few controller links in hereMan, what a shame that oldgen games aren't on PC
>>738258449>what a shame that oldgen games aren't on PCYou mean Monster Hunter? They can be emulated and there's Hunsterverse for online multiplayer.
>>738248701This is gay
>>738259506>zero balls touchingyou're gay for falsely saying that
Can controller players have their aimbot taken away from them now that they have a real input device??????
>>738259731If only it was that simple
>>738249941>The gyroscope is RIGHT THERE in the fucking gamepad but the support is nonexistentYour Steam Input, bro?
>>738256258Track Pads + Gyro are the best combo since you never have to worry about fixing your home point and trackball-flicks are more versitile than flick-stick.
>>738259315Yea i meant since there's no official port, there's no support for mouse aiming to add gyro
>>738258101I mean those are more like engine forks, I'm talking about just games that support it out of the box. I assume in the future there'd be indie games that only have releases on Steam that would support this as well. There's already "steam deck" versions of certain games (like OneShot which I think they remade to support the fact some fourth wall bullshit would probably work weirdly on gamescope).
>>738260058Yeah that's a shame. WIth the PSP ones you can't even use the imperfect Gyro to Joystick because lol dpad camera.
>>738260206But why would you need Steam for that? SDL can do it independently.I also don't see what makes those engines different considering the point here, only thing that's missing is the game data.Take something like https://qbj3.slipseer.com/ if you download the standalone it's just a single download and it'll have gyro support out of the box. Pretty much what you're talking about.
>>738260547It's less about what can be used and more about what developers will end up using.Like I understand that perfectly, some free games, mods or engines, some indie projects even will use SDL for this. Emulators and such as well. I'm talking about your average game release that can be bought and played outside Steam.
>>738260879I think you're underestimating how common SDL is. Godot engine for example defaults to it now. Unreal has an SDL backend. Considering it's the gold standard for supporting controller features and it's what Valve themselves use, recommend (and fund) I can only see it becoming more common.
>>738255374I'm not even American lmao but it's always food or car analogies.>inb4itsamemeyoudip
