It had worse pacing and story, but everything else Remake did it better than the original.

I don't think it does anything better than the original but it's a delight to see the same world depicted in high end graphics and storyboarded cinematics, while having new and competent combat mechanics, and also seeing how it reinterprets or adds story to the pieces that are getting changed.After a while the promise of being a "sequel" wears off. It's exciting in the first game when you notice it's not adhering to the original, and then seeing where the hell they're going with that. In the sequel it starts to get a little annoying because they're being sort of coy about it, much like Kingdom Hearts and its "Implied" storytelling.
