My problem with Elden Ring is that I eternally stay a midwit and will never reach a high level of play. This is because I will end up killing any difficult boss before I fully learn their moveset and how to avoid it, because a half assed understanding of the fight and a decent build is all that's really necessary rather than mastery in order to win. I still don't know how to execute the reliable method to dodge waterfowl dance because I eventually have an attempt where it doesn't hit me enough while managing to kill her before she kills me.So when I go back to fight her on a replay I'm going to forever eat shit until I have a few decent attempts and one of them allows me to seal the deal before I master the fight again.

Im pretty sure Malenia is the boss who is meant to counter the builds who rely on rolling/avoidance in the same way gargoyles are a hard counter to slashing bleed builds. The reason she is seems as the hardest boss is because "the meta" way to play through the game is basically dual wielding two weapons on a glass cannon rollspam build. waterfowl is like 8 times easier to dodge if you can negate the first part by blocking it, or entirely insignificant if you have enough stamina to block it all (she barely heals off it in practice, it just psyches people out)
