The games depict the gods by diving into the mythology and making them act like they should act instead of bending them to reflect the writers personality, culture and politics. It's the difference between writing a character that thinks and acts according to who he is and the context he opperates in vs "what if le nordic god but he's a grumpy italian grandpa living in San Francisco?"

Zeus was an Unhinged horny fuck tardand by the you meet up with him in 3 Kratos already destroyed Greece and 90% of olympus so he really didnt give a shit at that point

Ragnarok has kratos telling atreus to sit still and stop fucking around, then atreus goes and runs off and fucks around and makes a mess and kratos has to go clean up after him. This happens like 3 times then the game ends with the lamest version of ragnarok you could imagine caused by atreus fucking around AGAIN then atreus leaves on his own to be a faggot somewhere else and kratos is happy. The story was very annoying and I kept waiting for it to get good but it never did. 2018 is kratos and his son going to the top of a mountain to bury is wife or something while he keeps getting interrupted by norse gods that wanna fight him. The story was pretty straightforward and made sense but was still super lame for a fucking GOD OF WAR game. They're both so fucking lame. Combat is alright though. But they dont hold a candle to the og trilogy in any way.
