Steam Workshop ruined modding. Modding communities were best when you had to go to moddb or some other site and manually download and extract files into your game folder. Instead, now you have a locked down platform that doesn't support external games and you "subscribe" to mods.
>>738271610Yeah bro love me nexu oh wait they delete half of the shitpost mods because hurt feefees
>>738271610>Old good new bad because... It's just is ok?Kill yourself
>>738271683At least they allow manual downloads and people save those banned mods on other sites.
Retard
>>738271841I fail to see where the difference between saving mods from git, wokexus, moddb or workshop downloader.io is supposed to be.
>now you have a locked down platform as opposed to a free and liberating platform like nexus mods or paradox plaza?>that doesn't support external gameswhy would it support external games, like pirated copies? steamcmd works fine to download workshop items even without game license. Or if you're a gigaretard who thinks it Valve should just host mods for lolz for everything?
I'm reasonably certain Nexus had their one click mod manager before Workshop existed. I know nobody uses Nexus anymore because it's ran by jewish trannies, but there was a time awhile ago where people would recommend the Nexus similar mod managers for ease of use.
>>738272773>steamcmd works fine to download workshop items even without game licenseit does? i remember several years ago some murmurs about this no longer being a case. I think i remember what it was, some site that provided downloads from steam workshop links stopped working.
>>738273831Always worked fine for my GOG stuff so far, but then again I am not buying shit that has anything workshop exclusive very often
what actually killed game modding was every nigger thinking he is entitled to payments and wants fame and money (and even Valve wanted to add paywalled mods but backed down)
Yeah, I really am sad that I am forced to easily download mods for games that I already own on Steam. Clearly making an account on a tranny platform and having to manually install mods downloaded from there is superior.
hasn't been a problem for factorio
>>738274457>internet or steam goes down>all mods are gone
>>738273831Only difference I noted is that I recall being able to download some workshop directly a few years ago, they kept copies of the top 10 or top 100 most downloaded mods on site, so any fresh released flavor of the month games were likely there.Think Gabe might have nixed that one, now you need to ask the download site or some AIbot to shit out game & workshop-id numbers and paste those into steamcmd instead
>>738275449Oh noes! Zipping your local folders, how terrible
