Post the worst witnesses in this fuckass game series.
"Ooooh~ I saw two men walk up to each other and one shot the other guy~"YOU COULDNT FUCKING MENTION THEM BOTH WEARING MASCOT SUITS!? This woman is genuinely abysmal in every showing. She'll always block off super important evidence and then not even explain stuff property
AIIEEEEE
I'd genuinely take the retarded clown or Meekins over the anyday...
I fucking hated this lying whore
>>738277164>immediately hear the music as soon as I see a screenshotdamn it stuck with me more than I thought
>>738277164What's her gimmick? I haven't played great attorney yet.
>>738277713lie and try to sell you crackers
Maya. Many perjury. Many woes.
>>738278382She belongs in jail
Kidnapped Turnabout really kinda dropped the ball... It started off quite good with the randoming and Kay is a really fun sidekick but the rest of the case really sucks. The Chinese arsehole barging in and bossing you around is aggravating, the NPCs absolutely suck with the lolipop girl, old bag and the posh guy having zero charisma, and there's just sooo many pointless cross examinations one after another after another... Its a very simple case as well. Its one of those where you'll figure out what's going on like a third of the way through and then you're afk'ing till the end. The only part that threw me off were the right and left handed segments and that was because I kept looking at the doll suits.
>>738274212Lotta Hart?
>>738279973Depends on the case for her. Most of the time she does at least try to be helpful.
>'oi de guv' milord. Innit?
>>738274212ben and trillo
I'm just gonna preempt you faggots by explaining that any grievances you have with this guy are completely rendered moot by the fact that he literally attempted the Scooby Doo Villain strategy of dressing up as a monster from local folklore in order to find a treasure.
>>738280281I like him because of just how pissed he made Blackquill.
>>738274212>game gives phoenix a powerup form that's badass.>never mentioned again.Shit series.
>>738280380This Case is infuriating because of just how stupid everyone involved is for falling for any of it.They should be ashamed of themselves.
>>738280380Years later, I've come to realize that he perfectly represents all moped riders.
>>738274212
>>738280281He's funny because he did the much more simple tactic and it would've worked if the treasure was still there>>738280189I'll just throw in any witness with an accent because it makes reading the text harder then it has to be, more so because there's no way in japanese they all had stupid accents.>>738279837Kidnapped is pretty much a bottom tier case due to having a cast nobody will go to bat for on top of an fairly whatever case with some unfortunate cameo's to boot.I know someone has gone before saying that "it's not that bad" which is true, it's boring, and that's the worst thing a case can be, there really isn't any fixing the case without an entirely new cast.
I played almost every game and I don't remember shit. i'm latino btw.
>>738280424I'd say the bigger issue with it is the set up logic is dreadful.>Maggie gets found guilty due to fraud phoenix>Nobody does anything until a month later>None of the reoccurring characters have no idea this happened until a month later>Except Gumshoe, who decided to do nothing for a whole month but seeth until he gave Wright and Co the news.>The Crime scene somehow wasn't cleaned up after a month for no real reason. This random Month long time-skip ruins a lot of possible suspension of disbelief once you notice it.
I honestly don't remember being annoyed by witnesses because I can live with the premise that a lot of these cases would be over in like ten minutes if it wasn't for them being giant shitheads. This profound wisdom did not save me from fucking despising some of the more esoteric moments of investigation, which is unfair because compared to point-and-clicks I can't think/am mentally blocking out anything particularly egregious. I just remember being more frustrated outside of court than in.
>>738280380>>738280424The premise of this entire case is way fucking dumber than cross-examining a parrot or defending an orca. All of 3 is basically fantasy where you fight ghosts and doppelgangers. No wonder they tried calling it quits after.
>>738280281>Villain comes up with the most nonsensically complicated plan involving threats, blackmail, murder, municipal mergers, drugs, disguises, false confessions, etc>All just to get access to a room>This motherfucker beats him to it with a plan straight out of a Hanna-Barbera cartoonThis case is underrated as hell and I don't understand the hate it gets.
>>738280776Yeah 3 really has that feeling of "we really didn't expect to keep making these please let us stop or at least change up the formula"
>>738280424How you're supposed to take the legal system seriously when your client loses a case cause of AN IMPOSTER LAWYER is ridiculous... This is the case with that old man who keeps throwing beans at people too isn't it?
>>7382808431/3rd "It's not what I wanted in a sequel to 4 so it's bad", 1/3rd "Not really vibing with the japanes youkai and pro wrestling theme" and 1/3rd "DD's super hand holding nature makes solving the case not as fun as it could've been."I think it's alright with that said, I liked the characters involved with the exception of the one guy you aren't suppose to like and it's a fairly solid introduction to Blackquill and Fulbright.>>738280951correct!
>>738281000>Not really vibing with the japanes youkai and pro wrestling themeYeah, I'm gonna need anyone who thinks this way to shut the fuck up forever.
>>738280883All I could think of throughout 3 was how much they must have regretted offing Mia so early lol... And for such a petty case too.
>>738281000It just falls into the same pit as 2-3 and 4-3, that being a decent enough premise completely botched in execution by the most retarded contrivances ever.
>>738282865I dunno, If anything it's just kinda too easy and has a really dumb villain, the plan is over the top dumb but the reason for arresting the client is more believable.
I don't tend to get angry at characters for being dumb, uncooperative or even antagonistic, the issue is when it start to feel like you are going in circle or the characters won't shut the fuck up about the "joke" the writers though it was hilarious. The puppeteer it the worst for me, not fun, goes around in circle a lot and won't shut the fuck up, the clown was fine because he was fun.All this reminds me of Famicom Detective Club when you play with the girl and have to interrogate the teacher and is absolutely boring when half his lines is flirting with you, seriously bitch, tell him to shut the fuck and that this seriously, an student died and he is doing his best to bet in your pants?! I though this game was a bit more serious, didn't help that she is also way more boring than the dude. Liked everything else but never played it again, I should finish it.
>>738283605You really should finish it even if I do agree with you on Akane not being as fun as MC-Kun.
>>738278272that like every single testimony from the serie
>>738280843My only real problem with it is the end of the first day of the trial.>UM, EXCUSE ME, BUT HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THIS LOCKED-ROOM MURDER IF BOTH KEYS WERE INSIDE THE ROOM?Um, it was a premeditated murder. We know, cuz the coffee was drugged. The killer could've made a copy like months in advance. Now YOU explain why you haven't investigated who brought them the coffee. Oh? You won't? And yet here I am, having to explain the possibility of throwing a key through a ventilation duct.
>>738280731>The crime scene somehow wasn't cleaned up after a month for no real reason. You see, Armstrong's food is so shit that the crime scene being there was actually a positive for business.
>>738279973grok, make lotta cute so we can forgive her
>>738284845you talkin about edgeworth right?
>>738284978just give her normal hair instead of an afro
>>738284845
>>738285607>noooo don't give me billions of british pounds hahais naruhodo a retard?
>>738279973She’s kino, I’m afraid.
>>738274212Her only good part is her psyche locks getting instantly broken in the second game after she gets edgeworth's autograph. Every other moment, I mute my device because I can't stand the repeated "CRASH" sound effects that she forces me to listen to every time I breathe in front of her. same with lotta. fuck these bitches. why do so many npcs yell all the time?
>>738287114>I mute my device because I can't stand the repeated "CRASH" sound effects that she forces me to listen to every time I breathe in front of herKek. This is so specific and true.
>>738274212Old Bag's one of the most popular characters in the series, hence why she gets so much screen time. She's an agent of chaos who makes everyone suffer, which I can respect.Lotta, on the other hand, actively works against you with the prosecution for no reason, even when Maya's life is on the line. She by far the worst witness. If you think Lotta has a single redeemable quality, you're contrarian as fuck.
>>738276638Fuck the clown so much.
>>738280189I remember getting stuck at some part because I couldn't be bothered to read her accented text and ended up skipping some important dialogue info
Wendy truly is awful, pretty much any elderly character is, but the thing that made me give up on the series as a whole was the fucking lawyer high school, churning out teenage prodigies left and wright. I understand that you have to up the stakes with things like this, but Edgeworth went from being a once-in-a-generation talent to Johnny Come Lately. Not to mention that's the point where the world became a theme park based on the legal system, giving way to the even worse country of Khura'in.
>>738274212>witness Uhhh no. Have this.
my least favorite witness is the reporter from apollo. don't remember a single line of testimony, he was just unpleasant to look at
Would.
Take your pick. Every time any of these cumstains opened their mouth, on the witness stand or otherwise, something retarded or annoying came out
>>738291238fuck you Larry's GOATed
>>738284845Same.
>>738291238A lot going on here but how did you not think the Red-Haired League was funny
>>738279973Takes a Lotta Hart to almost get an innocent man executed basically on purpose.
>>738274212god damn the font is so fucking ugly in the remaster

>>738290397where's her penis splotch.
>>738291238Rookie killer-san's bloodline must be either really prolific or its like a Genghis khan thing where if we play 8th century Imperial China Attourney he'll be a fucking mongol or something.
>>738280951Also, despite you did not really prove this guy was fake you were allowed to just redo a whole trial, you just lost.
>>738291568Larry is an obnoxious faggot that ruins every case he appears in with his retardation.>>738291671The short fat one was okay but his crying was annoying. The tall French one made my blood boil.>>738292950It was interesting how Winston was mostly just incompetent, Gaspen was a total asshole and Auchi was an incompetent asshole with bad hair
>>738291238I remember Diego being fine.Godot was the annoying one
>>738280731Also, we wasted a whole day on debunking Armstrongs retarded mirror claim, he randomly came up with and we had to role with, despite how little this made sense to begin with.
>>738294103A good amount of 3-3 is just wasting your time until the main man himself arrives on the scene fully.
>>738280731Not to mention Tiger didn't even dump his phoenix suit and the fake badge
>>738284808The victim's work desk wasn't even cleaned up either
>>738294258>>738294219Yeah everything remaining the exact same after a month in 3 different locations is just a bit too much to swallow.
>>738285334Nah, she still has that huge mouth and derp eyeballs. Nose isn't great either.
>>738285724Like fucking why. The case is all about poor people struggling to flip every halfpenny and then the lawyers all work pro bono.
Really hated this fucker. Dude was a total rube and actively tried to kill himself in court over a theory that everyone else knew was bullshit. He really had no reason to be sent over from Germany they should have locked him up at the border as an escaped madman. We've had some witnesses try to take a fall before but this was straight up for prides sake even if the game tried to make it out as misplaced idealism and he never recovered in my eyes.
>>738280592There are one or two cases I played fairly recently that I still just don't quite recall how things went.
I don't get people that hate Oldbag and Moe. How do you even play Ace Attorney? They are basically the soul of this franchise's humor.Witnesses I actually hated:>pretty much anyone from the PLvsAA game>Lotta>Cody>Victor Kudo>Lamiroir>Sal>Lance>BikiniAnd while we're doing this, best witnesses:>Luke Atmey>Paul Atishon>Shelly>Kristoph>Gant
>>738294735>BikiniWhy?She was the only wholesome character in the whole case
>>738294782Just didn't like her looks.
>>738294735Paul is a legend goddamn. From the moment he entered court to when he left I was going "this man is so fucking based" every second
>>738280951>your client loses a case cause of AN IMPOSTER This really isn't that absurdBelieve it or not, courts skip the procedure of asking lawyers to provide their identification 90% of the timeThe only bullshit part is that Judge knew Phoenix personally but he still thought Furio Tigre was feen
Out of the way, faggots. Best witness coming through
>>738274212Oldbag rules just for how she KEEPS coming back all the time.>>738280189headpat gina>>738280951>How you're supposed to take the legal system seriously when your client loses a case cause of AN IMPOSTER LAWYER is ridiculous... This is the case with that old man who keeps throwing beans at people too isn't it?that's the point. after Wright (who was seen as one of the only COMPETENT and non-corrupt defense attorneys) got disbarred it ended up starting the dark age of the law because of shit like this.
>>738295223>that's the point. after Wright (who was seen as one of the only COMPETENT and non-corrupt defense attorneys) got disbarred it ended up starting the dark age of the law because of shit like this. The dark age of law happened because Phoenix and Blackquill set an example of winning by any means necessary, which led to an age of corruption.
>>738277713She basically saw literally everything that happened but is too much of a bitch to be helpful
>>738280843The case is intrinsically flawed since it sets up a boring first day deliberately so it can go full wacky retard kino starting with the fake demon possession onwards so I can understand its reputation but the twists are so stupid and good that it's at least a high 7 for me
>>738280189Someone post the copypasta
>The worst character gradually becomes the best characterI cannot believe they made a game this fucking perfect.
>>738280189I wish I liked her, but I just have such disdain for that stupid accent and petty thieves. I didn't really care for how hard the writers were pushing me to like her either.
>>738279973Lotta Hart for a freelance reporter
>>738291238I think I can finally replay the PW series because I don't remember half these characters
>>738300647even the murderers?I thought about doing the same thing but when you already know whodunnit it isn't as funand I know a lot of them are actually pretty obvious, but they could always be a red herring the first time playing
>>738300923The murderers yeah, but there's probably fun in working back through the narrative having forgotten most of it
I hate the word "fate".
>>738301048ok Fategot.
>>738274212Girl here, I always found manfred hot, why?
>>738301246large man

>>738301367bro what the fuck? my cat wont even let me wash him and these two are dancing in the sink
>>738294505i fucking LOVED this case, hands down the best in all of the series imoit’s easy to look at this dude with modern eyes and be like “oh he’s a charlatan/crazy bastard” but the game takes place in the victorian era so i was able to suspend my disbelief because people were generally quite stupid back thenand being an attorney means you’re going to have to champion some dumb or bad people every now or then
>>738296865Still a sack of shit since he took the prosecutor position away from someone more qualified.Only good part was Edgeworth telling him he was a failure even if you instant failed the chess match for it.
>>738274212I like the original trilogy (even if 3 is kind of retarded) since the trilogy is basically Edgeworth's character arc culminating in him helping you as a Defense attorney. Unfortunately they immediately pussy out after Apollo Justice (even though none of the cases in AJ are good) and just make the 3ds games a total mess with way too many characters and lawyers and stupid plots.
>>738301048Kore ga watashi no unmei da...
>>738279973She's fun and sort of cute. Uglycute, I suppose.
>>738274212I actually cannot think of a witness that's straight badly done. At worst you have some who are kinda boring and one-note, or the ones who waste time by spamming the startup animation.>>738274835Nigga that's her gimmick in the first game, what did you expect. She was the one who claimed she saw Powers and she actually meant somebody wearing the Steel Samurai costume. Oldbag for whatever reason assumes two different people cannot just use the same costume.
>>738294735Don’t diss Lotta, she’s a classic. If Oldbag is the soul of the series comedy then Lotta is the Heart.
>>738279973More like Lotta Fart, have you seen her diet?
Be honestHave you ever wanted to fuck an AA character?
>>738303190Maggey is 100% my type desu...
>>738303250Girls who are so unlucky that you could die by dating them?
>>738301367Erm @Grok is this real??
>>738274212You already posted her. Wendy fucking sucks ass.
>>738274212Not witnesses, but dealing with the dumbass juries in TGAA got old fast.
>>738280930having replayed it recently, トミー really isn't that bad. As a character he's a caring and decent fellow, with a justified grudge against the 被告 and the penalty gimmick hardly matters since his witness part is one of the easiest to see through.
Realistically at this point, which kind of witness would be actually difficult for Phoenix to deal with?
>>738284845HUFF N PUFF N
>>738296865How do they even do his name gimmick in the official translation?
Bump for AA7 when
>>738308207Never understood why /v/ hates him so much.
>>738312454Canonically he's so annoying that Phoenix will get penalized for pressing him.
>>738312784I know. I had zero trouble with him, though, and he's a jovial guy.
>>738309820you don't want to know
>>738312815think he just chatted too much for most people. Also has one of the more obnoxious le epic 4chan meme breakdowns.
The yatagarasu shit was actually so cool.
>>738312815It's still pretty mental to restrict your already very restricted options in an AA game.>>738313039He doens't have a breakdown tho.
>>738274212This series flanderizes characters harder than anyone else. Oldbag was fine the first time she appeared, but a few cases later and she's dressed in a space suit and shooting a toy laser at everyone who upsets her? And not as a brief one-off gag, but the whole fucking case? What the hell even is this supposed to be?
>>738279973This is the answer. Even Wendy got her moment and can be cooperative sometimes. This ugly whore is just an antagonistic piece of shit all the time
>>738313309True but Oldbag isn't really a good example here. She was always a funny old lady.
>>738312454>/v/You mean reddit. They hated the Acro case because of the muh underage angle.
>>738301048Based anti-determinism
>>738313412At least in 2-2 she looks genuinely sorry, and the worst she did was hiding a picture because Franny told her to.
>>738313229I actually pogged when Shih-Na broke her cool persona and did her Calisto Yew laugh
>>738313501Funny to think that Calisto's personality might be her actual one.One of the hardest culprits to hate because she is just fucking funny.
>>738313295he freaks out and auto scrolls through a bunch of textboxes, sorry if that doesnt meat your definition of a breakdown
>>738313712Eh idk, AA uses "breakdown" in a very specific way.Entirely unique animation, generally preceeding a confession or being removed from the courtroom altogether. To not be confused with transformation(like when Cammy reveals she makes fake bubbles).
I wanted to get into this series at some point, but the way you people describe it, it sounds like the most retarded bullshit imaginable.Lmao if this is the caliber of storytelling we're dealing with then I think I'm gonna pass. Why even waste your time on garbage like this?
>>738314138Takumi himself said that it's meant to be comedic, to a certain extent. So it's more like that it doesn't take itself very seriously outside of the big plot points.
>>738314138Its actually quite satisfying to play, especially if you're going in blind. The games don't really delve too hard into the more questionable stuff until after the first few games. Give the first game a try, it's probably the best one and let us know how you get on.
>>738314365>Give the first game a tryIt really is. Raw fucking soul, at many points it really feels very experimental like somebody a random anon would write.Hardly anything resembling a too standardized structure, even the dialogue itself has a somewhat inconsistent and very snappy style compared to the latter entries.
>>738314564>experimental like somebodyahem, *like something
>>738313712you can thank lolcalizers here
>>738313501I just played that last night and it was cool as shit. Honestly one of my favorite twists in the series.
>>738315856Lolicalizers?
>>738314138like anon said it's primarily light entertainment, like lol I'm calling a parrot to the witness stand, but it manages serious moments well at times, like when Mayoi cries after hearing her sister's voice in 1-2
>>738296865>got his virgin stolen by an actual thief girlgitwm
The parrot interrogation was pure kino tho

>>738301246>>738321246You have no chance with him.
>>738321480I bet his wife must be perfectly beautiful too, perhaps with a perfect personality too. Otherwise Manfred wouldn't marry her
>>738279973Fuck this frog faced bitch. Even Oldbag wasn’t that bad compared to her.
>>738321480What exactly does Manfred mean by that? That his wife is just naturally talented at cooking, or he just loves her very much?
This is the greatest thing I've ever played in my entire life. Ganondorf best prosecutor.
Does DD get better after the first case? I did the first case like a year ago and whilst it was fine I just sorta dropped the game. Should I go back?
>>738322349Never played it, but thanks for reminding me to watch at least.More AA crossover trials(or technically just AA courtroom setting but in another franchise, since supposedly there is no real crossover going on there) would be great. Surprised they didn't do Mario first.
>>738322495If nothing else, play the DLC case. It's disconnected from the main storyline and one of the best, most inspired cases in the series. The game is... OK. But it's a long fucking way to get to the final case and the payoff isn't as mindshattering as most games.
>>738322349This shit plays better than some of the actual AA games. I'm hoping they'll make more cases eventually...
>>738277713She's a compulsive liar who will say anything to get a sale and refuses to give anything correct until she does

>>738318057>Manfred fucking retraining the parrot just in case Phoenix actually took his suggestion seriouslyUnadultared kino and none of the other joke animal cross-examinations can match it
>>738323091I was going to say, that's actually the best part. If it wasn't for Yogi confessing, it would be still pure speculah to say the safe password and the name alone would prove the owner's identity.
>Hey, not bad! But you made one big mistake - I won't forget this! You're now officially my rival while I'll be a recurring thorn in your side! I've got a feeling you and I have a long history ahead of us Mr. Edgeworth.
Mr. Wright, you have proven that this witness has committed perjury on the stand 5 different times on the exact same line of questioningHowever, unless you have D E C I S I V E EVIDENCE that can PROVE the witness was actually the murderer, I will have to take everything they said as absolute fact and find the defendant guilty, even though we just proved there was no possible way the defendant could have been the murderer.Well Mr. Wright? Do you have D E C I S I V E EVIDENCE?
what was the best and worst twist in the series?
>>738274212I feel I could post every character from Turnabout Big Top. It's truly the worst case in every term. My pet peeve with Acro is that his "oh shit, I've been found out" reaction is boring. I get it, he's stoic, but overconfident people loosing their shit is like half the fun of the game for me.
>>738274212Oldbag is funny though because literally every character hates her.
>>738295131They put the StarCraft 2 battlecruiser guy in Ace Attorney?
>>738277713She sells her back alley services exclusively to shotas to blow up schools
>>738313039Moe has 5 testimony's when most non murderer witnesses get 3, so there is quite a lot of him to get annoyed by if you aren't liking him already.Doesn't help that day 1 mostly just wastes your time.>>738323787Also if you weren't liking him as a villain, his defeat doesn't really feel satisfying either, 2-3 is very much an all or nothing case, it's either exactly what you wanted or it's nothing that you loved.
>>738323763Best: The mastermindWorst: FulbrightNote that even the worst twist is quite good.
>>738303190Plenty. Every game usually has at least a few really handsome guys I'd like to fuck.My latest obsession was Jigoku. He's so fucking big.
>>738303190Only Adult Pearl from 5. I fucking hate any other appearance of Pearl.
>>738325730For you
>>738322495DD feels like a Saturday cartoon. Just skip to the 6th game.
>>738322691Why the fuck does the DLC case get so much praise? Does no one mind that the only reason it even happened is because they don't autopsy the dead in Japanifornia unless they were specifically murdered?
>>738323763Best: Dhurke was dead all alongWorst: Apollo getting a 3rd backstory
>>738323787Acro's personality is fine on its own, but it doesn't help when the guy conceived killing Regina, fucked up and murdered the man everyone respected(included Acro himself) and was going to let Max take the blame. If you are going to have a nice guy become the true culprit, at least go with "I did it for somebody else because the victim is a scumbag and was torturing them" kind of plot.

There is no better way for me to respect the detective or police in these games than by seeing them cooperate with your defense council. The sheer number of times they are antagonistically opposed to you in some tribal manner pissed me off. Total anime moment.

>>738342709Shields did nothing wrong.
>>738342594this was the strangest thing about all of these games to me, that prosecutors work closely enough with the police to be detectives on their own, are granted absurd resources and access to witnesses/suspects/evidence, almost always get the first look at crime scenes, and might as well be a department of the police. whereas defense attorneys are apparently the legal equivalent of children at a lemonade stand who have to beg and scrape to speak to the person accused of murder or get a look at a crime scene 4 days later
>>738342594Especially considering just how flimsy the evidence often is against the defendants. Playing through Investigations they quite often cycle through like four suspects per case and are actively against checking for evidence first. It doesn't seem fair at all. Nobody seems interested in finding out the truth of the matter first and just want to hold up proceedings.

>>738342594>>738342945>>738342948>>738343365Is this just a Japanese stereotype? Like, I know the game is strongly referencing Japanese attorney-client-police culture but I don't know how the state's prosecutory bodies interact with the police or how it differs from the US's, just that if you are indicted you have a statistically low chance of acquittal, but that could stem from more than just frivolous sentence-happy people, it could stem from a normally thorough investigation standard and systemic oppression occurs once an innocent person is accused and gets preemtivley treated like a criminal. I understand the lawyers may also have naturally harsh reputations as people who mostly work for the criminals and trying to make money off that, or at least that's leaned into in order to make you as the lawyer protag an underdog (again, anime moment), but straight up telling the official representatives of the suspect to essentially go fuck themselves is beyond the absurdism that I thought these games were going for and only function as plot drivers.
>>738343979His plan was doomed from the beginning because he assumed she could both follow instructions and figure out how to open the chest.
>>738344097>>738343605Even if all these hotshots are his superiors, you would think gumshoe would have some degree of age respect entitled to him. >>738344219Yeah I think it's mostly based on Japan's legal system. They have such a high conviction rate that they have sorta gotten to the point where an accusation is already a conviction, so "innocent until proven guilty" is maybe on paper, but not how the police, prosecutors, and public view it. If you're on trial, you have to be guilty. If you got arrested, you must have done something wrong. It can't be that they simply got the wrong guy or you were framed. You have to be guilty.

If you're on trial, you have to be guilty. If you got arrested, you must have done something wrong. It can't be that they simply got the wrong guy or you were framed. You have to be guilty.I can't believe this meme is still spread when Shu Takumi has said multiple times the game isn't meant to be a commentary on the Japanese legal system. The reason the prosecutors are evil and the police works against you is because it gives the story more stakes and it's not supposed to be a realistic story.
>>738348289japs would say that about their preciousu system though. Total cucks.
>>738351045>[incoherent babbling from some third worlder]Takumi literally knew jack shit about the Japanese legal system and had to sit in on cases while working on AA1 to get ideas for the game, and the main thing he learnt is that cases are boring. The only real reason Ace Attorney focuses on lawyers is because Takumi wanted to make a detective game inspired by Columbo focused around pointing out contradictions, and working as a lawyer ending up being the most effective and novel way to do that concept.

>>738361068Cases that are automatically known to be major plot irrelevant have a big mountain to climb. I don't like Athena and every time she is the player character she shits the bed embarrassingly bad in a way the others don't.
>>738361223In general athena bounces off everyone extremely well, i still don't think i want an game with her as the lead with that said for reasons that you suggested unless she actually develops her skills.
>>738336450>Visible nipple shapeWhy did they do it?
>>738344219>>738347747Japan doesn't have a 99.999% conviction rate because their judges are assholes, it's because the police won't do anything unless they have to (don't want to do the paperwork + don't want their beat to get the reputation of being a high-crime area ), the public prosecutors won't press a case unless they're 99.999% sure they'll get a conviction (don't want to look like they're wasting the time of judges and taxpayer money), and they're also extremely lenient with plea bargains (again, don't want to waste the court's time). The conviction rate is that high because it won't get brought to trial if they're not that certain in the first place, AND the defense is too retarded to accept a plea bargain.
>>738361410>unless she actually develops her skills.Sure, I'd be willing to give her another chance if she grew a bit.
>>738362037Athena's been stuck in the same competence zone as Case 1 Phoenix, because any time something gets too hard for her, she has Phoenix, Apollo, AND Blackquill there to bail her out and send her to her room. Plus, while I don't hate the Mood Matrix as a mechanic, Dual Destinies did pretty much everything you can possibly do with it. Get her out of Wright & Co, get her a new gimmick, and she might turn out fine. She's likable enough. But she'll never stop being a rookie if she keeps being treated like she has been.

>>738367139No. Where's my clown college application?
I just finished Investigations 1 and besides going on for way too long, I have another problem with the final case. Why did the smuggling ring send Calisto/Shih-na to go be Cece Yew’s fake crying sister in court all those years ago? I get that she was a spy in yatagarasu, but that group was formed after she appeared at the trial because she met the other members and they decided to seek justice. So really there was no reason for her to be sent there in the first place, unless the ring just wanted to send a fake sister there for fun or to create their own worst enemy on purpose for no reason. From what I remember I don’t even think she was like a planted witness in the KG-8 trial, I’m pretty sure she just cried in the gallery.

A lot more difficult in concept, because it's either a 1-3 scenario where a (supposedly, in this case) fictional hero kills a villain IRL(or another magical girl), a similar plot as the one I just finished doing(somebody figuring out a secret identity and maybe threatening to leak) or an accident that doesn't make for a very cool trial.
>>738373882>or an accident that doesn't make for a very cool trialDual Destinies' DLC case was the result of an accident and that was a pretty cool one.
>>738374275Fair enough, just came up with a setup on the spot that plays on the "accident" theme:The prosecution case would be that a magical girl heroine accidentally killed somebody who was transformed into the MOTW, but the truth is a regular human culprit is attempting to get away with it by framing her, and she herself seems to be convinced it was her mistake. The main contradiction convincing the defense that something is odd has to do with the magical girl being similar to Sailor Moon in the sense that her powers are purification magic, they could only "kill" if you are a being made of pure evil energy and we saw her many times reverting MOTWs into regular humans.
any easy way (hshop level of easy) to play translated GAA on 3DS nowadays?
she's the best
>>738374776Should be as simple as downloading a translated version onto your SD card no?
>>738375635I think there are already better hshop alternatives so you don't even really need that.>>738322349Genuinely PW trilogy-tier despite supposedly being inspired by DD, well done.Only minor nitpick I have is that it does get a little tiring to hear Link constantly assert his right to cross-examination. It made sense with Zelda but hardly with anyone else.To be fair though, I remember some canon cases where I was also tired at how many times the defense needs to unironically argue their basic rights(not including SoJ, of course, I realize that's the plot there) and keep basically begging to do something they are supposed to be doing and the Judge had already agreed either way.
>>738283605This, the ventriloquist is the single worst witness in both official and fangame canon. Has NEVER anything to say when you show evidence, is just pointless outside and within trial segments. Normalfags think Moe was annoying
>>738366690>a decade since DGS/TGAA>remaster ltierally every game including ghost trick and excepting the crossover>do an entire anime series of the first trilogy>still no sign of AA7 anywhereDid all of the writing staff explode or something? What the fuck is Capcom waiting for
>>738328290Of The Devil has something similar (close, but not exactly) to what you describe regarding risk/reward during trial sections
>>738377540>and fangame canonWhat's the lore here? Do people throw Ben in fangames only for him to have largely exactly the same role?
>>738377760Need to play more AA inspired indies eventually. And accept that the official games started lagging behind random guys who aren't bound to follow a very specific formula and exec demands. Always annoying when companies decide to play it completely safe and never try to do something interesting once they have established a good initial concept. It works in PW trilogy, an old ass experimental GBA game series, but I would think nowadays you can get a lot more fancy.

>>738280568>more so because there's no way in japanese they all had stupid accents.of course not, but I can still appreciate the localization as the dialects were taken from diaries from the time
I fucking loved these two and their dynamic with Gregson and Graydon

Crazy to think the series is 25 yr old now...
>>738379014Was thinking about it yesterday too.Mostly in the context that it's been influencing other japanese mystery media for the last 25 years now, and if a courtroom is ever involved you can bet this is going to turn straight into an AA trial(at least in spirit, even if the format isn't exactly the same).
>>738378021>Just names every single woman in the franchise except for OldbagKind of based

Is the clanker right?>The reason the alternate suspect theory works in the trial is that it creates enough pressure to produce a confession. In a Japanese procedural context, that is not incidental — it is the mechanism the system actually runs on. Haruse[the defense attorney] isn't just building reasonable doubt. He is, without quite saying so, engineering the conditions under which the only way out for the true culprit is to confess. That is a more specifically Japanese logic>the trial is using a fictionalized legal system that draws on Japanese aesthetics and character culture while operating on Western procedural mechanics — which is exactly what Ace Attorney does, and which is a perfectly legitimate creative choice.(context is basically be making Clod run a trial from an attorney online doc(with a lot of additions for characterization sake and MUH TIMELINES), but without actually telling him to use precisely AA format)
Since mainline is never ever, I wouldn't be against AA threads also including more discussion on fangames or indie clones. Got some with interesting mechanics?
>>738383691There's the Touhou Busy Person games and a few Aya ones but I don't know too many other Ace Attorney hacks.
>>738383691There was an AAOnline case for one of the recent case competitions they hold that had a time travel mechanic where you could send evidence back in time to create contradictions. It was pretty fun to essentially forge a case in real time during the trial.
