Is there a reason Alphinaud is always a central scion in the expansions? Is he just popular with fans? I'd like to see more Thancred, like Thancred had a role in Shadowbringers, but that was it. It's like he's been sidelined, and yet even Urianger and Ysh'tola have had more screentime. I'm glad they're giving Einstein more screentime. I think Thancred is cool, figured the fanbase liked him, but the developers don't seem to like putting him in trailers or giving him a bigger role in expansions. I mean...he is a "dad" now, I guess. He has to babysit Ryne so now he can't go anywhere and do fun stuff.

Just goes to show you, anons. Never have children. We're off galivanting to other worlds and having a good time, while Thancred is at home watching Ryne and being bored out of his mind.

Anyway, I think it's a combination of other factors:

Please ignore the fact that every time Alphinaud has to talk no jutsu someone, that someone usually dies and then he talk no jutsus the next in line. Thancred is the scout, that means he often has to fuck off on his own.
>Urianger and Y'shtola are the smart ones that are usually brought out when a problem needs solving or lore needs expositioning. Y'shtola also having the advantage of, so far, taking most of the strategic decisions for the Scions, and also, you know, being the waifu.
Having said that, I actually agree it's been a while since Thancred was allowed to be relevant. DT fucking dropped the ball hard on that, actually having him as a serious rival during the race would have been so fun, but it all just came down to him dropping some boulders on our path and then the admittedly sick ass scene of WoL distracting Bakool Ja Ja for him to sneak attack.
