Why do all modern games feel so shallow, samey and forgettable?

E33 was the one gem in the sea of modern shit

Modern video games no longer feel like they need to try putting in any effort, and pandering to faggots is basically the easiest way for companies to make quick money.
>>
>>738280841
Liar. That was the most generic shit ive ever seen. Its such a redditor game.
>>
>>738281016
You’ve never played it
>>
>>738280728
Pandering to the largest audience
Videogames, like society, is being held hostage by the absolute dumbest people
>>
>>738280728
Theyre all copying each other's homework to put it simply.
Big corpos dont want to take risks so they copy whats been done well before.
>>
>>738280728
What games have you played recently?
>>
>>738280728
cookie cutter engines, low barrier to entry, devs went to school to make games, retarded generation in workforce.
>>
>>738280728
Predominantly because they're made to please shareholders rather than fulfill any creative vision. Accordingly, they're designed by committee and refuse to take risks.
>>
>>738280728
It costs hundreds of millions of dollars to produce a modern day video game and the people providing the capital are very risk averse. Gamers need to read an economics book.
>>
>>738281032
>youve never played it
>you got filtered
>its impossible to think this game is bad
Got any other excuses before I tell you that you belong with the other redditors?
>>
If you're still playing AAA games at this point, you deserve it

Most astroturfed game ever
>>
>>738281282
Yeah we definitely need to read an economics book and do nothing but consume to please the share holders.
Make a good game. Thats all you need to do.
Hell male an interesting game and I can forgive low quality to a degree.
>>

Everything really is so cookie cutter. Everything has crafting now. Everything has light rpg mechanics. And there’s the obvious ubislop open world formula. So many games try to cram in “content” but it’s all so fucking trivial, I’ve said it in many threads but instead on focusing on dialing in one thing really well it’s all just as wide as the ocean but deep as a puddle. Tell the normalfags they’ve mastered all these “deep” mechanics so now they can think they’re epic gamers with epic gamer cred.
>>
>>738280728
Because you play shitty games? There's plenty of good modern games, most of them you will refuse to play because /v/ told you they are bad.
>>
>>738281364
Absolutely. The moment journos universally praise a game something is afoot.
>>
>>738281285
>>738281364
Notice how you have no retort to being told you never played it.
Maybe if you actually played it instead of just blindly following a manufactured Jewish hate campaign like cattle you would like it lol
>>
>>738280728
Because they're designed to be like that:
Disposable, inoffensive, without any specific target audience. The point is to get (You) to consoom it at a high price, then ditch it, and get hyped for the next rehash AAA trash.

the modern day triple-A publishers HATE the idea of a single game becoming a timeless cultural phenomena that keeps on living on its own. Think the OG DooM, and how people are still playing and modding it, nearly 40 years later, because the OG devs were chads that gave us full source code and SDK decades back.

Meanwhile, D2016 to Dark Ages didn't get any of that, and they are understandably DEAD at this point. Not that they were ever anything more than bland console-oriented, linear movie slop QTE fests in the first place.
>>
>>738281428
Most people haven't played most games dude. Even that shit. Seriously, look at any game's achievements and even the most basic tutorial ones are unlocked by 70% and then it drops every following mission.
>>
>>738281428
Notice you have no retort beyond "you never played it".
Fuck you want me to do say nooooo i totally played it. You dont care you just want to be right and you wouldn't believe me anyway
Go back to plebbit where you belong faggot.
>>
>>738281564
Name a single game where that isn’t the case for achievements you retard

old game: company has the shekels and pays some dudes that love videogames to make a videogame for them
new game: w*men, and dumb browns + investors
>>
>>738281465
Hell when one guy found the source code for starcraft 1 blizzard demanded, on threat of legal action, that he give it to them.
The cuck listened which is even funnier but come on.
>>
>>738281369
How did you take that from my post? I am simply explaining why modern day games are so boring and bland, which boils down pretty much entirely to the economic forces at play in a game’s creation. It’s also why “indie” games are often more innovative and therefore have a higher chance of being “better”, the economic stakes of failure are lower, and the people providing the capital are often more passionate about games themselves so it is no longer a purely extrinsically motivated endeavor to make money but also has intrinsic motivations like just wanting to make it for its own sake.
>>
>>738281637
Read again retard. I never implied otherwise, I even told you that this is the case for every game.
>>
>>738280728
Literally not the case, must suck to be you.
>>
>>738280728
They adapted to the audience
>>
>>738280728
They are made by workers now, not people with passion. Same thing happened with film
>>
>>738281282
games arent expensive to make.
>>
>>738282762
lol
lmao even
>>
>>738280728
Toxootransmosis moment
>>
>>738280728
Because you probably only play steam games which is mostly indie rogue deck-builders and roguelikes or some open world slop that’s just ripping off BotW.
