It smells of “the fans are complaining so let’s just off her”, but also she has no real use in the loh story either. It makes all the events of VoH almost pointless.

I had more fun with the server slam. Did any of you guys play the pre release game? It was capped at like level 20, and came with dungeons and a world boss ashava. It's pretty good for a weekend or two of blasting

There's now multiple different end game activities and they vary in how they're benefiting your overall progression, the warplans is kind of nice and gives you a mindless direction to pur your energy into which builds progress and there are now activities skill trees that allow you to customise each activity, nothing hugely transformative but adds some depth

The horadrim cube is also a nice addition that opens up the options for some crafting, and they've essentially kept Sanctification from S11 and it's now called Transfiguration
Gambling it all on an item is always awesome

They've also cleaned up some bloat around the bosses, like those fucking summoning materials are now just replaced with Lair / Greater Lair key and the malignant heart etc are just a "throw 5 into cube for random unique from that boss loot table"

Is it worth trying a Diablo game after all these years? The only APRG I've gotten more than ankle deep into is Grim Dawn and I cannot fucking believe that Fangs of Asterkarn still isn't released. I've fucked around with PoE a little bit but I have smallbrain, looking at the sphere grid gives me a headache and I didn't gel with the gems-are-skills system because it made it feel less like I was playing a class than I was a body that could just do whatever I wanted if I had the right gear.

I sort of miss D3s level design. It’s hard to articulate, but it’s from that tail end of that era of 2000’s games.

The main reason I never tried Diablo is I had a lot of experience watching my friend play 2 as a kid and it just seemed by the end playing the game was the least important aspect of it, it was just running cycle on cycle on cycle looking for the right stuff to drop. When I played GD it was on a whim because I thought the multiclass aspect was interesting. I did a playthrough on whatever starting difficulty was available and was done after finishing the campaign and Ashes of Malmouth. When Forgotten Gods released I did a new full run but I just don't have that itch for the forevergame that all Diablo clones seem designed to scratch.

Yeah, but given the state of (internet) connectivity in general I don't know if anybody will ever really lend themselves to developing something like that again.
I mean shit, every major phone (data) company will give you a massive data hotspot to use, on the off-chance you're ever playing portable. Not to mention everybody and their mother has free, high speed wireless access in their businesses because it comes packaged with their business internet.
So the idea of modeling a game like this to have offline capabilities is practically pointless.
Oh and the game pretty much sucks dong playing solo anyway. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed playing the main campaign(s) by myself well enough, gradually increasing the difficulty, and trying to take the story seriously. Emphasis on trying.
But I would never replay it. It's a multiplayer game. Plain and simple. Does it suck that it's a multiplayer game, designed not to really be played singleplayer? Yes and no. Plenty of great singleplayer games out there though, and for what it is this game as a multiplayer experience is better than similar games, e.g. WoW or FFXIV.
For everything else, there's Diablo II.

Lilith was banished to the Void and she came back. The story of Diablo games always revolve around the Prime Evils being smarter than humanity and getting their way somehow. Mephisto's entire arc seems to have been about finding the Pools of Creation that Inarius told him about and the ending has him fall into the waters before the boss fight. Even if he is banished to the Void, I think that means the Pools of Creation are now corrupted and who knows what that means but I guess we'll find out in the next expansion.

I think he's a kind of tragic figure, rejected by the heavens and tortured by the hells. That's why I would like to see his reincarnation, to get some idea of his side of the story. He believed that killing Lilith would redeem him, that he was the one in Rathma's prophecy "bound in chains".
He viewed his creation as a permanent reminder of his failings, while Lilith viewed them as a permanent reminder of her rebellion against her father. Side note: I'm not convinced that she has Sanctuary's interests at heart. If she ruled Sanctuary, it would be a hell in its own right, as evidenced by her actions throughout the original campaign.
But anyway, I would like to see more of what Inarius's inner thoughts were before his expulsion from heaven and torture in hell.
