Does anyone have any memories of this?
Gamecube constantly gets mentioned when talking about peak era of Nintendo, some are still being talked about today.
Yet when it comes to Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, no one cares.

I prefer the Wii version for the convenience(plus its technically harder cause its a three hit system as opposed to bananna health with the exception of boss fights) but I fucking love this game dude. The devs over there in Japan know that Donkey Kong just being a fucking powerhouse and this was their first showcase of that.

Favorite DK game. It felt so good and SLICK when you know how to move well and beating the shit out of the minibosses felt great. Hitting back projectile melons felt and looked great The kong bosses were cool. The music was great. Kinda short but still great

I love this game, but you're right that it doesn't really get mentioned much when talking about the Gamecube. Great combo system, great music, great boss fights. Also very notable since the team that made DKJB would be the team that went on to make Super Mario Galaxy and other future 3d Mario games.
>>
>>738289791
I fucking loved this game but lost my bongos and never got a chance to play it again. People seriously don't realize how perfect this game is. Side comment: when I first played MGR, the rapid punching scene reminded me of this game.
>>
Can you play it with a normal GC controller?
>>
>>738289791
It was one of my favorites, actually. I never tried playing it with the regular controller though. I always used the bongos.
>>
>>738289791
Peak DK compared to what a travesty he is now. Just going around beating the shit out of motherfuckers.
>>
>>738289791
Peak with some banging music once you get good. To bad DK has been replaced with wokeykong
>>
>>738294883
i guess, it would fucking suck though.

You can but you have to constantly flick the control stick left and right to move Donkey Kong and have him repeatedly punch enemies. You have to move the C stick whenever you want him to clap too. You can't mash the sticks in either direction as quickly as you believe you can
>>
It should've been an arcade game, this shit doesn't belong in a house with parents or roommates or in an apartment complex with thin walls. But yes fantastic game.
>>
>>738289791
It was cool, but Donky Konga was the much more popular bongo game.
>>
>>738299218
and it was just "bad" taiko with a clap as a third note right?

fantastic game. The platforming on its own isnt anything to write home about but it feels like a serviceable platformer game, but then the combo system kicks it into over drive. Love the boxing match boss fights, the ones where you have to shoot yourself form some kind of canonn at the boss kind of suck though. And man the bongos made my hands hurt after a while

Sadly itll never get a sequel
>>
>>738289791
Really fun to go for 100%, memorizing the proper route through a level was very satisfying (and never too difficult).
>>
this game plays alright on the steam deck if you map bongo inputs to the trackpads lol
>>
>>738289791
i walked by a demo kiosk with this on it at ebgames once and hit the bongo a few times out of curiosity and thought "heh thats neat" and forgot about it. was it based? if i remember right i ws experimenting in those 5 seconds seeing if it could register different amounts of force and i cant remember if it did or not.
>>
>>738289791
It's actually really fun and has a good score system. I like the boss fights too, and the game's premise is nice. This is like, olympic athlete DK.
>>
>>738299218
Yeah and its shit. Wild how the actual hood game was ignored
>>
Did anyone playing this actually clap? I just tapped the side of the bongos to keep my hands.

It's literally the best Donkey Kong game. The most fun you can possibly have with the series and if you disagree you obviously did not play it.

>optimized my runs so well that I started slapping the side of the DK bongos instead of clapping because it was faster and always 100% guaranteed to get recognized
I love low tech tricks like this.
>>
>>738289791
I never played it but I watched my cousin play it
Donkey Kong fighting is hype as fuck
Wish he got to do more of that outside of smash bros

fucking kek
>>
>>738303067
Do you just click the trackpad in or how do you have it set up
>>
>>738302694
you don't have to actually clap the normal way, quickly make a fap sound with close slaps on your palm, DK flys upwards faster
>>
>>738303647
click in yeah, mic input's mapped to a trigger

it's a compromise and not as good as playing on real hardware of course, but it works well enough

Top right actually was a game though. A Taiko spinoff developed by the same Namco team which the bongos were originally made for.
>>
>>738294883
They made a port to the Wii with normal-ish controls. The soul is a bit drained though.

YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG
don't map it to click in, map it to when you just touch the pad and max out the haptics
it's not the bongos but it's literally the closest to the real thing you'll ever get otherwise
>>
>steam fanatical transexuals ruining another thread by making it all about their shilled brand
Kill yourself.
>>
>>738289791
Always wanted it, I had Donkey Konga.
Also wanted Konga 2 and 3
>>
>>738289791
Played this on Gamecube with the authentic bongos. It was amazing how tight the controls were with such a gimmicky peripheral.
Fun game. Bosses got kinda repetitive though. Final boss sucked. It's obvious the platforming was the main focus and the bosses were an afterthought, but the platforming is really, really good.
No idea how the Wii version plays.
>>
>>738289791
It's a cool experience, but it's not a favorite of mine by any means. Sometimes Jungle Beat feels clunky. When it works, the combo chains are really satisfying, though. The cinematic combat (quick time events) are violent, cool, and silly all at once.

The main issue I had with the controls was that your hands will hurt like hell after a few levels if you actually clap.
>>
>>738307217
>Final boss sucked
True, but I liked how there were different attacks that you could pull off based on where/how you hit him.
>>
>>738289791
I absolutely love it, and it's a good workout
the bongos are pure sovl
I've been itching for another playthrough for a few months now
the combo system expanded the game greatly and it was super fun to go through the levels again with the platinum medal as a goal

>Gamecube constantly gets mentioned when talking about peak era of Nintendo, some are still being talked about today.
Maybe if you're a retarded gamecube tranny that looks like pic related. Gamecube wasn't the peak of anything and it was already a worse console than the N64 you stupid faggot. Jungle Beat is also fucking dogshit just like most soulless gamecube trash.
>>
As much as I love Bananza, Jungle Beat just made being DK feel so fucking cool. All action games need a Punch-Out genre shift by the way.
>>
>>738309263
That's not a tranny, and certianly not in the Gamecube version.
That was added only to the Engish versions of the game. They call her a crossdresser in japan (specifically, the word they use is usually used for "crossdressing for comedic effect", not their word for transgender).

Nintendo of America shoe-horned that localisation change.
>>
>>738304467
always annoyed me how you never get to play full songs in this, only snippets
>>
>>738295392
Except that's literally exactly what Bananza is, dumbfuck. It's the same fucking team for both games.
>>
>>738289791
I remember playing it a lot when I was a kid.
I don't think I managed to get a gold rank on anything other than the first two kingdoms and the final boss.
>>
>>738310367
>It's the same fucking team for both games.
It's literally not.
There might be a few individuals with crossover in the team, sure, but there's new people in Bananza's team that aren't in the Wii game.
>>
>>738302694
I dont think it's even possible to actually clap on some of the harder difficulties on the Konga games. I've always slapped the hard plastic sides of the bongos instead.
>>
I tried replaying this game a year or two ago, but sadly dolphin is just incapable of detecting the bongos properly.
No matter what I did the mic was either too sensitive or almost unresponsive, with zero inbetween
>>
>>738311087
works on my steam dick
>>
>>738311087
i know exactly what you mean, how it will register multiple inputs if you don't do any fine tuning

i have it set to pulse(`Trigger R`,0.018) on my steam deck and it's not perfect, but close enough
>>
>>738302825
fucking hell lmao.
>>
>>738294883
I finished the game with a normal control, my thumbs hurt for a while
>>
>>738289791
This is my favorite game ever. I still have my bongos and use them to play the Taiko games on Switch.
>>
playing this game at a formative age gave me taste
