By 2023, almost every single one of those games' devs was self-censoring for Playstation anyway, the games were selling peanuts (not a single one of Eastasiasoft's ports charted on Famitsu), qureate had just gone through a scandal where they were accused of using the likeness of real idols in one of their games, and on Twitter/X, the main hub for global cultural discourse, almost every other day there was another viral tweet of someone bashing Japan as a sexist pedo island and/or openly calling for otakus/lolicons to be lynched, and getting 100k likes or more for it, which is starting to manifest into real-world consequences as internet censorship increases worldwide all riding the "PROTECT DA CHILLUNZ" wave. Nintendo, seeing all of this, finally decided that supporting these games had become more trouble than it was worth.
