Death. Controls take some getting used to but aside from crouch being a toggle state when you press down it's fine and you eventually see the matrix when you backflip dodge a dropwig on instinct.

a true immersive sim. Both literally (you and slugcat have very deep connection, hence immersion) and figuratively (it plays like games people call immersive sims. Semi open level design with multiple routes for different playstyles, many unique ways to tackle on an obstacle, clunky controls as you mention that make more sense when you get used to them, for example like in System Shock, smart AI and deep gameplay systems etc etc). It's probably the one and only 2D immersive sim and one of the greatest games ever made.
My little advice - bring in your sense of childlike wonder. Exploration is the best part of the game and you are in a way privileged for not knowing wtf is going on. I wish I could wipe my memory of it.

Well said. I thought it was a survival platformer that was hard for hard's sake when I first tried it. Picked it up a year later and couldn't stop playing it. What an amazing, beautiful game

its probably fun but ive never lasted more than an hour becausei dont find the gameplay loop very compelling
>wake up
>find enough food to not starve
>this entails either backtracking or extending out to new rooms
>extending out to new rooms means going in a direction you havent gone in before until you cant go any further then turning around and going a different direction at the next intersection
>going into new rooms has the chance of you dying to some random bullshit like those pole imitation bugs or gigantic vultures appearing from the top of the screen
>or it means you'll go too far out and wont make it back in time before it starts raining
>oh and if you die you also go back 1 cycle so now you have to do the loop twice to actually progress
even with the yellow insect dude giving you a direction to go towards

even with the yellow insect dude giving you a direction to go towards the game is just a long process of filling in a map screen
>>
make sure you understand there are a lot of controls the game doesn't tell you. For example, switching the items in each hand by double tapping grab is essential for inventory management since you can only hold 3 things and always throw from one hand.

If you find a yellow grub squirming around, find an area with some nice open sky and toss it on the ground.

Yeah you gotta like getting fud or exploration to really enjoy the game. This is why the Hunter (and co.) is superior as it is carnivorous, letting me enjoy hunting BIG fud. Once you're done with exploration, the game becomes a lot more chill as now you can just focus on food and getting better at traversal

Novice movement techniques will get u through the game

The difference when you reach a good skill level is night and day. You will never even get close to running out of time between shelters (except climbing the wall).

This is also me and why I got filtered by this game and didn't manage 10 hours

A great game with a miserable as fuck grind

Sunk cost fallacy game for losers. This is the dragon's sugma of 2d games.
>>
dropping the game before you get 1/3rd of the way in and then coming back a few months from now and beating it

Explore as far as you can
Don't get mad if you die (you are meant to die)
If you want to go through a door, find the nearest shelter and begin huntergatherermaxxing until you can pass
>>
>>738291685
If you find white floating things in a certain room to the east, don't eat them. That's all you need to know, now get the fuck out before you're spoiled.

One of the best games ever made and a genuine work of art (base game only)
>control are ass
Skill issue

Am I the only one who completely disregarded the yellow guy? I just went where I wanted.

Im not sure im the only one but the yellow insect guy was absolutely useless save for the first area. Maybe it was some weird pirated version of the game but he barely even appeared after the tutorial level and when he did he gave very erratic directions that didnt make any sense. I had to play it by ear.

Boredom unless you're an explorer.
I need some more exploration focused games, honestly.
Just wish more of them had some actual gameplay like Rain World.

I never played this game but I would totally fuck a slugcat
