Abiotic Factor is a great example of how a game can still be fucking GOATed despite having a section that's unbelievable dogshit (Residences/Fragments). First half of the game is just that strong.

I was looking forward on first boot to slap together concoctions, blowing up in my face, until my experiments helped me narrow down the effects of distillations so I could then make shit from my own notes, like>ah X + Y gets me a frozen coating>and X + Z gets me a frozen bomb>so Y gets me coatings and X gets me an ice effect>so V, which gave me a tincture, should let me make a freeze potion; maybe a way to summon the Krasue?with further layers where certain distillations alter effects further, cuz you do need 3Instead it's literally Soups 2
