It’s well produced, the mechanics of it are pretty good. Probably actually perfect, although im not going to call it perfect. But it’s like pretty good okay, they didn’t do anything weird with the camera like most other turn based games like DQ or others. You can see the action order, which is literally only in that game. I think the active atb system actually is slightly better, it’s more skill without any drawbacks. It lets you delay your turn basically, x just uses a wait mode atb system instead. It’s a worse system. Elemental weaknesses also are pretty stupid, that’s like a very entry level design philosophy, very very simplistic. Theres lots of better ways to make spell counters a viable balance strategy.

It has some good fights but its otherwise standard jrpg fair. It is super linear but the environments look great still and if youre enjoying the story it keeps things interesting, it's well paced. It feels like an entire expanded epilogue about how the world changes after Sin is defeated. I'm not a fan about how complicated it is to get 100% in X-2, but I think it was a good choice to mix things up for the sequel.Overall, wonderful, formative games for me.
