It's dead isn't it?
>>
>>738295774
No, it feels like a complete game now. Sadly, I think a lot of people were burned and they're never giving RoA2 a chance.
>>
>>738295774
Eh, it peaks at nearly 1k players every day, and it's at EVO.
A console release would go a long way, but i think they want a bigger roster first.
>>
>>738296013
Do they have Switch 2 dev kits?

This furry trash was a stillborn death from inception. When Combo Devils finally comes out it will put it out of its misery.
>>
>>738295774
Is it still an early access game disguised as a $30 game?
>>
>>738297515
It will divide the player base.

>>738295774
Game is just unfun and the character designs look like shit.

>>738297739
They fired the furfag gatekeeping sex appeal.
>>
>>738297739
>Game is just unfun
Eh, it's okay. Not as fun as ultimate and slap city though.
>and the character designs look like shit
This. The only characters that don't look like shit are galvan and loxodont.
>>
>>738297609
No, it doesn't have egregious bugs anymore.
>>
>>738298043
okay but what about content?
>>
>>738298101
16 characters, items, stages with hazards, classic mode, etc.
>>
>>738295774
If >>738296013 is correct and it's actually peaking at 1k, it's stable. So not dead. The game was never going to get anything close to a fraction of a fraction of Smash numbers, because Smashfags only play Smash and 2D fighting game players have little to no interest in platform fighters.

I'm surprised to hear that it's still getting 1k. I took a break from the game. It's good, but I don't always want to play.
>>
This is why you dont have a character kit design/balance team full of pm shitters. Because they will create characters only other former pm shitters would like. No one gives a fuck about any of these heavies or the rest of the base roster, especially the DLC. These characters do not interest any ultimate or melee player. This games only hope is getting some workshop characters because literally anything created by anyone not a part of aether studios would be 10x more fun than any character currently in the game. No one is working on any workshop characters due to 3d modelling being too hard (i was wrong, i predicted a lot of solid, polished workshop creations would happen by now). And yes, I do realize floorhugging is a bigger problem than the roster. The roster is the second biggest problem.
>>

I like the heavies.

didnt really care for the game.
Tried it out, didnt really care for any of the characters, and a lot of the changes just made it seem more like every other smashclone.

Too many characters had annoying gimmicks that were central to their gameplan, and i dont really care for design like that

Rival1 mogs it I'm sorry.
2 is boring as hell.
No ledges and shields actually made the game more fun.
Floor hugging is bad, everyone is saying it but it's true as well.
At least roster balance is better in 2 so far.
Better being the key word.
They nerfed my main from R1 and it was justified.

>>738297739
Yee, at least in 2d you could imagine they looked better lol
And the simplistic nature allowed a lot of workshop content.
They should have made a higher quality 2d game as a sequel instead.
The game looks like it runs on UNREAL slop because it does.
Cant believe I upgraded my PC to play this game.

Rivals character design is nothing like PM character design. You know what game has former PM devs on it? Combo Devils, and their moveset design is much closer to PM (mixed with some Blazblue)

The wall runners on Kragg's casual stage are pretty obnoxious and the frozen pillars on Etalus's stage have some buggy behavior that can disrupt matches (there was a patch today so that might have been fixed) but it's mostly just stages with interesting layouts and moving parts, like an Air Armada stage with Big Blue/Poké Floats platforms constantly entering and leaving or a stage with rising and sinking side platforms while a slow-moving shark trawls back and forth. They're mostly fun

Have you played any of these games? Icons just copied Smash characters. I think the only truly original character from that was Afi Galu. Rushdown Revolt on the other hand had some truly cool redesigns, and it has the best platfighter character of all time, Reina
>>
>>738299974
Yes, and PM is Brawl modified. Bragging about making the mod is comparable to Icons.

Buy Combo Devils
Buy Royalty Free For All
Buy Punch Upon A Time
Buy Fraymakers

>she says while posting a butt ugly character design

>>738300621
Royalty Free For All is almost Smash Flash 1 tier. Don't put any faith in it.
>>
>>738300181
I think turning the worst Smash entry into the greatest Smash entry is noteworthy and speaks to someone's skill. A sculptor is impressive because they turned a block of marble into a statue, are they not?
>>
>>738300785
No, because it's harder to make your own game than modify an existing game.
>>
>>738300860
I never said it wasn't. Both are impressive. Brawl was a real turd and the depth of their reworks, both technical and design-wise, are astounding, especially with the tools they had to use.
>>
>>738300785
>the worst Smash entry
Is that even really true anymore? Smash 4 had a lot fewer redeeming features than Brawl, and at the end of the game's life had a character about as disruptive to the scene as Brawl Meta Knight.
>>
>>738300680
It's more polished than Fraymakers was for the longest time and that game is made by the SSF2 devs.
>>
I'd try it out, but honestly for a furry game, I've not seen one truly cute girl on the roster.

I have no clue how I'm supposed to be using Fleet
I've been trying to learn her for 140 hours now and the combination of her slow grounded speed, slow grounded buttons and most of her kit losing to floorhug leaves me so confused. I like to zone with her but people seem to talk down to any Fleet players that don't play her like BBats
Whenever I fight a Clairen I contemplate suicide for an extended period because her buttons are better than mine AND she outspeeds me

I didn't play the pre-Steam versions so I can't compare, all I know is when I fight someone in Diamond or higher I get blown up about as hard as if I were to fight a really good Melee Fox player. Look up some recent tournament footage (I don't have any specific recommendations) and see if it comes across the same

Rivals 2 and Combo Devils are the waiting room games for Fizzi's platform fighter.

>and there's no workshop
There is, but it doesn't have anything good. A few Melee ports that don't have anything for the game's new mechanics, and a couple WIP new characters that might not ever get finished due to the insane scope that is making a Rivals 2 character. I think most people saw the work needed and stuck with modding Rivals 1 instead
>I can't figure out platform fighters at all
I feel you as someone who also came from traditional fighters and didn't play Smash more than super casually. The big thing I had to get a grip on personally is that shielding, unlike blocking, has 12 frames of recovery when you exit it on top of any shield stun you might be in after an attack, which makes punishing a move on shield with something like a jab way slower than it might appear. HOWEVER, you can cancel shield into certain attacks to bypass this recovery, and that's what players usually refer to as "out of shield options." The most common options are grab (but you have to be facing your opponent) and short hop into a button. Generally speaking making your attacks "safe" is done by hitting the opponent from behind or doing so with the spacing and/or momentum to land outside their OoS options' range. Took me dozens of hours to understand why my opponents could easily punish me for things I couldn't punish them for.
Also, your air dodge cancels when you hit the ground, letting it function like a short-range air dash. Wavedashing is the most infamous way this is applied, letting you slide across the ground like a microdash that keeps you actionable, but even more important is to use your air dodge to land on platforms. If you can do this and shield drop (holding diagonal down while shielding to cancel the shield into a platform drop) it will open up movement for you in general and turn the act of standing on a platform into a position of power. The crazy schmoovement on platforms is done through these.
It's hard but if I can get to plat so can you, good luck
>>
>>738295774
why have both melee AND rivals 2 been getting such an influx in threads recently
>>
>>738298689
that dude was only apart of the publishing company where his only role was surveying people from other countries in order to set regional prices for the game and its cosmetics. he left the company last june.
you shouldn't let one guy mindbreak you to the point where you opt to completely shut yourself off from supporting an indie team you otherwise would have, especially not without doing any form of research whatsoever.
>>
Somewhat off-topic but I don't want to ask in a Smash thread because those are full of Shitendo cultists who go rabid at the mere insinuation of preferring Melee/PM over Ultimate. Is HDR Remix any good, or is it just Ultimate with wavedashes? I'm a bit tired of the Melee/P+ roster by now and want to play as some cool new characters like Cloud or Sora. I know there's that Brawl mod that adds a truckload of characters, but it straight up fucking sucks.
>>
>>738301421
you and the guy you're replying to have opposite philosophies for how you want fleet to be played. i honestly think today's fleet is more suited to anyone who dropped the game because they killed her in the first patch, she's honestly one of the strongest characters in the game right now, and gets to do a lot of ignorant offstage carries.
i can't imagine anyone wanting to zone with her would have a great time, but you should probably just spam uptilt and grab more, mostly uptilt. you want to prioritize popping your opponents off the ground, and fleet has the tools to do that, but you're going to need to be comfortable getting in from time to time.
>>
>>738304829
i don't think the scope of r2 characters really is as crazy as people think. it's a lot of animations but 3d is well suited for that, the problem is that so much of the work is frontloaded just in making the model and getting it imported, and the devs didn't learn their lesson from r1 in having good documentation right from the beginning. take that, coupled with the fact that it's technically competing with r1 workshop for dev time (someone who was porting an r1 workshop character to r2 stopped to participate in a workshop jam for r1 and literally never came back even after the jam was finished lmao) alongside the fact that the majority of people who liked rivals 1 hate rivals 2 indescriminately, you're left with a recipe for low participation and abandonware.
i think when it gets merged with the base game, gets better documentation, less crashes and better safeguards for characters with missing moves, we might see some more movement, but i don't think the motivation is really there right now. otherwise, there would have been literally anything original that wasn't a literal cube, something made by a toddler, a port from a different game or some abomination that just redirects animations from the base roster. tayir and timsah are cool, though.

>>738305763
i haven't played the game in years but i think it's fine for the most part. a lot of people seem to think hdr plays like it was made by a mid-tier scrimblo player that can only go 2-2 at locals. idk how true that is, but you should expect a lot gimmicks lifted from pm, a lot of characters turned into spacies for whatever reason, and a lot of bullshit. it's still decently balanced and it feels waaaaayyy better than base ult. a lot of the improvements to ult's online were developed primarily for hdr offline, so it just has like 4 frames less input delay overall than ultimate.
>>
>>738295774
