The gameplay loop is actually quite compelling once you've finally made it over that initial introductory hurdle. One of the only games I've ever played that felt like I had actually embarked on some kind of journey.Glad I finally gave it a fair shake after so many false starts and meme bitching threads I posted when it initially released. Good game.
>>738306459>felt like I had actually embarked on some kind of journey.A real shame they stopped making games like that long ago....
>>738306459>Don't kill anyone! If you do, you'll have to carry their body fifty clicks into the mountains and burn it just so the world won't explode!I'm sick of Kojimas pussy-assed pacifism.
>>738306459Game looked fine at the start. I really liked the environment. But then I got turned off by the weird invisible creature shit and the baby you have to pet or whatever. I dropped the game when you got in your room and had some Monster energy to drink. That was just too... weird? Couldn't stomach some shitty obvious product placement and mechanics where you have to drink it.They should have made the game where you're the only survivor and just explore the environment. Walking in that setting was very chill and therapeutic. Too bad this jap idiot had to fuck everything up.
>Have to drink itYou don't have to drink the energy drinks in the shelter.
>>738307281you can fight and defeat lots of enemies, idk you you NEED to kill them if disabling them is the same. Plus, you can kill them if you really want to
>>738307827For some reason people here always try to make some aspects sound a lot worse than they are. >>738307281 this guy says you can't kill enemies but you can, it just has consequences (which is cool). >>738307749 this guy says you have to drink the energy drinks, which you don't, but if you do you get a little stamina bonus (which is cool). Also he's asking for an entirely different type of game. Idk why people can't like the game for what it is but whatever, i'm enjoying 2 at the moment.
>>738306459the enemies are boring to fight. they are boring to sneak around. they are boring to engage with. they're just annoying. the main gameplay of the game is annoying. it could have been a decent game iwthout those fucking beached things or whatever theyre called. but theyre just a thorn in your side. so the gameplay is basically truck simulator with janky ps1-tier driving physics (which could have been comfy) except there is a constant thorn in your side constantly annoying you, fucking with you, messing up your day. and because theyre not to engage with its just pure annoyance. theyre not hard to deal with, not fun to deal with, not intersting, theyre not varied. just tediumthe game basically feels like real life wagecucking. if youve ever had employment you wont like this game. this shit is like doing menial labor but at least the environment is cool and there is strange and interesting music you havent heard before. but then karens and niggers enter the establishment to interrupt your work with their retarded annoying antics every 15 minutesthats the game
>>738307749>>738308060and yes the game has product placement, and even worse, the wholle narrative is a big "eat ze bugs" propaganda
>Brought a chiral cannon into Neil's final fight>Sat behind a wall and wallbanged him to death>During the one on one segment I just chugged Chronobiotes Don't hate the player Neil, hate the game.
>>738308060I'm trans btw, forgot to mention
>>738308180cope
>>738306459I had a few false starts, finally got into it, and dropped it halfway through. I skip every single cutscene and dialogue (because its all shitgarbage) and the gameplay just got shit. Interacting with BTs is shit, Mules are shit, the whole thing is just busywork and even traversal isn't fun once you have the truck. No motivation to "build the roads" because they just get time rained away anyway. You quickly realize there's really nothing to it and they're hoping the story makes up for the trash gameplay but it doesnt>play time: 33.3 hrs
>>738306459Playing it through at the moment and I like it a lot; the only thing that pisses me off is that some areas are just permanently covered with BTs and its a fucking pain in the ass to make constant trips to nearby Preppers (specifically thinking of Wind Farm)
>>738308265YWNBAW
>>738306459It's a great game,But the Directors Cut fucks it up, a lot.
>>738306459I agreeSequel is kinda unnecessary
>>738308303That is exactly why you participate in the world improvement projects, to make the lives of you and everyone else much more tolerable.
>>738310058Explain how.
death stranding 1 is human soul, first time kojima made a game without looming death threats. it had the journey , the mystery of amelie, the terrain , the war vetaran set pieces.then he had to fuck it up with that corporate soulless sequel
>>738310414I recently acquired the sequel but I was going to finish Death Stranding first. Is it really THAT bad?
+1 upvote from ama zone delivery workers
>>738308265Wow afrimericans look like that
More like the gameplay poop :^)
Anybody else don't like using vehicles ? I just want to walk.
>>738310618No... I find it more "gamey" and iterative. Like instead of embarking you on one giant adventure they introduce you to a hub and it's like "alright you know the drill start doing your little quests".
Give me ideas for a challenge run.
>>738306459a couple months ago I took a lot of deliveries (I had already finished the game, was just having my two weeks of fun), but said to myself>fuck, this gonna be hard, I'll leave it for laterthen I got drunk at some weekend and tried playing it for a bitI don't remember shitbut the next weekend I'm playing it again and I see that I delivered everything and even had a couple new contracts fun game
>>738308035it's either a glownigger ai psyop or discortrannies that always try to play the "contrarian /v/irgin" but "against" the games /v/ actually likes or shilling some AAA shit - it's easy to notice because they always have the shittiest >arguments
>>738308060it's stealth survivor horror tps walking delivery simulatorif you fuck up the stealth with "ghosts" it becomes survivor horrorif you fuck up the stealth with humans it becomes a tpsyou walk everywhere or use a vehicle but the goal is always to delivery thingsand build bridges by doing so, for the NPCs with the Playersit's an amazing game, fuck you, you dumbass
>cinematic snoy garbage for fart-sniffing celebrity worshipping millenials who pretend to like videogamesNah

>>738313628YWNBAW
I'm in love with Animal Shelter girl.
>>738313838Why would I want to be a woman? I don't simp over celebrities and I don't play garbage made for console casuals.
>>738308060>the game basically feels like real life wagecucking. if youve ever had employment you wont like this game. this shit is like doing menial labor but at least the environment is cool and there is strange and interesting music you havent heard before. but then karens and niggers enter the establishment to interrupt your work with their retarded annoying antics every 15 minutesYup, that's how it feels every time you have to deal with the BTs.
I love this new feature, peak comfy. I just wish i could collect chiral crystals from my truck
>>738313978Dilate
>>738312447I only used the truck when it was some insane order that literally couldn't be used with floating carriers.Once you get the stabilizer 3 then floating carriers become the goat because they float with you when you jump.
>>738315152You will be able too once you get the climbing power gloves from the jeets in the snow mountain
>>738306459Try snow runner, same type of game but without talking and with cool trucks.
>>738313849YJK
>>738315152I'm a little bit conflicted on it, on the one hand it's fun and comfy as you say, but on the other I kind of feel like I missed out on half of the game by doing absolutely everything in the truck. It's just the best tool by far for every possible job. I probably shouldn't have been able to literally scale mountain peaks in it no problem on the hardest difficulty.
>>738316287well i only use the truck for transporting large cargo over big distances and building road/monorail, otherwise i use the trike since it's faster or walk if it's rough terrain. You can limit yourself when you use the truck
>>738308303Purposely get caught, defeat the BT that spawns, then the area will be clear of them for awhile. But yes, as >>738310120 points out, part of the point is to create connections that make traversing these difficult areas, either via roads or ziplines or whatever. A lot of people get mad at the snowy area, or the basalt column area, etc. They're meant to be difficult, so that when you overcome them and make them easy to move through, you get a sense of progression. >>738310618>>738312649This is pretty accurate. The game gives you a TON of tools that took ages to get in the first game, almost like it's trying to rush you to the "fun" part. In my opinion, it sort of fucked up the feeling of progression I mentioned above, though things like the monorail system do help. Also, the story is a lot more depressing, for what that's worth.
>>738312447I use ziplines whenever I can, but sometimes when I'm trying to do massive bulk deliveries, I'll use vehicles (or the monorail, if it makes sense.)
>>738313849She's modeled after the lead singer of CHVRCHES (the three of them are the band,) who did some of the music for the game.
i really hate the stretch of land with the novelists son and the photographer but aside from that the map is great
360 hours and im seeing this for the first timesam is fullfinallyi have no idea what this does
>>738312447im 40 hours into my no truck no roads and as little trike as possible runwhen you get to the motherhood the game actually builds the road through the twin valley mine to the lower camp for some reasonits a peaceful life
>>738318635the game is already 100 hours with vehicles and roads, i don't wanna pour 300+ into it, my backlog is huge. Also, i'd get bored after playing for so long cuz it is repetitive
>>738306459I won't play it because the protagonist's beard looks like shit.
>>738306459>Glad I finally gave it a fair shake after so many false starts and meme bitching threads I postedwhat compells you to be retarded on purpose? just end your life, seriously. waste of space
>>738306459Game is way more boring than you're giving it credit for. The enemies, which are the only real gameplay element are completely trivialized by just running past them. I never had an issue just zipping around ignoring them. After that you're just walking around, occasionally listening to bad dialogue from ugly uninteresting characters and listening to a baby scream at you all the time.
>>738318707jump ramps get you around faster than vehicles and are more fun hope this helps
>>738318781Post beard.
>>738318830id rather play this than any fromsoft or capcom game
Funny. I finished that game over two weeks, taking my time, enjoying every second. It has a soothing feeling in a lot of content and especially the side content. Now I can't finish the sequel for the life of me.
>>738319184Alright
>>738315152Do you have to unlock doing the scans from vehicles in 2? I'm still in early game and I haven't been able to scan while on the trike.
>>738319442might be a bug, never had a problem scanning the locations when in a vehicle
>>738306459I made it to the crematorium and uninstalled, carrying shit was ass.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is not a video game. It's Kojima's $100 million excuse to hang out with Hollywood celebrities while you hold the left stick forward for 40 hours. Almost every location has a flat path straight to it. You can make any delivery by holding forward or driving a truck. Congratulations, you just experienced "gameplay." The game throws numerous tools at you that you absolutely never need. It's like being handed a Swiss Army knife to eat soup — the equivalent of playing Doom where enemies fall down without you ever pulling the trigger. But the crown jewel — the absolute proof Kojima doesn't make games — is the "Pretend You Won" button. Die to a boss and the game literally asks if you want to skip it. Pick it and you get a SLIDESHOW of how the fight would have played out. The results screen reads "Imaginary Victory" with a drawing of Sam sleeping. Even the protagonist doesn't care. No game should let you skip core combat. That's not accessibility — that's a confession. That's Kojima saying "gameplay doesn't matter, just watch my movie." The single greatest evidence he's NOT a game developer — just a film director accidentally given a dev kit instead of a camera.Did this cinematic walking screensaver win GOTY? NO. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 — an actual VIDEO GAME with actual GAMEPLAY — bodied Kojima's celebrity meet-and-greet simulator at The Game Awards, Golden Joysticks, DICE, and GDC, racking up 291 GOTY wins in 2025.But don't worry — his own game taught us the solution. He can just Pretend He Won. Skip the awards, read a little slideshow that says "Kojima won GOTY" with a picture of him sleeping. Imaginary Victory. Kojima — put down the controller. Pick up the camera. Stick to making movies. You clearly want to. You were never one of us.
whenever people say the game is boring i just think of thishttps://youtu.be/Pbb1IA0zFH8?t=5286the enjoyment you get out of death stranding is directly tied to how you choose to play the game, if you have no imagination or willingness to experiment with the items and mechanics and want progression spoonfed to you i can suggest a few gun and ball games you might be interested in
>>738312447I love using the carrier trike whenever I can.
>>738319961He drove the truck into the camp to save the adventurer, basically the opposite of what the mission briefing suggests you do, then he gets angry that he has to carry him, then his brain breaks completely when he figures out he cant just drive the truck over the mountain. This is the face of people who think Death Stranding is "boring"
>>738320787>He drove the truck into the camp to save the adventurer, basically the opposite of what the mission briefing suggests you dowoah he used the tools given to him in an open world game to solve a problem in a different way than the mission briefing suggested. he should be in jail
>>738320738Based homos abandonning their truck for the superior walking
>>738308060>>738306459these games should have had zero enemies. just pure goods hauling over environments.
>>738306459I really enjoyed rebuilding roads and getting some people up to full stars. That sort of open sandbox of just delivery missions and upgrading and finding a path.Could care less about the story.
>>738324289The second game shifting the focus on the combat was a mistake
>>738306824Whats this? A kids cartoon?
