It's the second most retarded mechanic. The first is the call of duty style ADS where you are forced to slow walk. You are always aiming down the sight irl. Rifles are designed to be that way. But then in addition to having to slow down to aim, you have sprint so even hipfire is a slow walk. So aiming makes you super slow. You shouldn't need buttons to walk faster, you have an analogue stick.
>but keyboard
Should be obsolete but developers are cowards.
Halo proves that m&k is obsolete and ADS & sprint are pointless. Just push the stick halfway if you need to move slower.
>but le aim assist
Whatever you think about it, most players are fine with it and they certainly do not want it to go away. You are a minority.
Besides, like recoil, aiming is just a stress management skill. It doesn't measure your ability to make good decisions like being in a certain place at the right time or taking the best route to get there. Some people can easily learn to control recoil but make consistently dogshit decisions and still win because the game lets them leverage their brute instincts. Aim assist largely eliminates that. It gives the game back to the working man. Equalizes the playing field so that tactics matter more than motor functions. Imagine if fighting games were determined by the raw physical power of the players lmao.
Another thing about recoil. It does have some positives. It adds weapon variety. In destiny, a hand cannon wasn't just squeeze right trigger 3 times, it was also pulling the stick down. Almost felt like pulling the hammer back. It added a small but meaningful amount of distinction to that weapon type. And it wasn't like pubg or rainbow six where the recoil is really random. It was consistent. Simple. You didn't have to pay much attention to it, just make sure you press all the right buttons.

Anon you hold a pistol with a firm grip. Videogames drastically affect weapon inertia that is absent from reality. Like the characters are limp wristed or something.

>You shouldn't need buttons to walk faster, you have an analogue stick.
lmao, that's exactly why the game makes you aim and sprint. Analog sticks are a garbage input method for dynamic camera 3D, so most games are balanced around being single analog stick shooters that just alternate between analog sticks as a LARP.
You almost entirely stop focusing on movement if you aim, you almost entirely stop focusing on aiming when you move, the analog stick just doesn't have the balance between snappiness and precision to quickly and accurately pan the camera while you move quickly. Cover based shooters, shooters with "stealth elements" and shooters with context sensitive mobility are even worse and you are allowed to just stop thinking about moving at all while you aim until the Simon-Says grenade tells you to stop focusing on aiming.

if you want analog sticks, then you have to cope with ADS and sprinting LARP so that the majority of the playerbase can play their single analog stick shooter.

I still feel that hipfire should be perfectly accurate, but you get no cross hair. If you want a cross hair you Ads and slow down
>>
>>738311095
players will just use 3rd party crosshairs like built in monitor ones or even tape with a dot on it. good in theory. doesn't matter if its singleplayer though

i really like the feel of guns without recoil
why are you moving my cursor around just dont do that and it would be better
i also hate ads because its just nothing like why do i gotta do that when i could just not do that
why are you putting a massive thing in my face and changing the controls just dont do that and it would be better
its annoying how modern games go out of their way to do so many things i hate when they could just not do that
>>
Just play Arma 3 idiots
They got it perfectly right

It's been a million years since I played but I seem to remember Insurgency fixed that by making hipfire kinda drifty so there was no one fixed point where it'd hit. It'd hit close to the middle of your screen but the exact point could change depending on your movement.
I might be hallucinating that but even if I am I just solved the problem so it's fine anyway.
