You just had to be there.
I feel bad for people that will simply never experience good video games and good operating systems.

Oh how times have changed
>>
>>738307528
Yeah I just had to be there to kill 1000 mangy wolves and pick 6 million flowers so I can complete the first quest and earn 1XP and then do it again for the rest of the game
Fantastic experience buddy, really cool
>>
My desktop looked something like this up until around 2009 or so. Good times.

Vanilla wow around launch time in the first few months was magical. That feeling will never be recaptured again ever.
I quit the game when I reached endgame and in order to get the best gear I was forced into raiding, and it turned into an autistic overoptimization and a logistic nightmare to get 40 somewhat semi-competent people together, that got to the point that you had to pass a fucking job interview in order to get into a guild that could progress, that's where I said fuck it, the game turned into something I have no interest in pursuing. But I will never forget the good times before that.

>You just had to be there.
You can be there in 9th May on Kronos V

I actually enjoyed that part. People were everywhere doing quests, killing mobs, could meet people and team up for harder areas or elites organically. I understand MMO quest design isn't for everyone but I think vanilla wow hit the nice middle ground between the mindless mob grind leveling older mmos had, and what we have currently, that is just follow quest marks, mindlessly skip through dialogue, occasionally kill 3 wolves to trigger the next cutscene, and do this for 50-100 hours, looking at you FF14 or BDO, or Lost Ark, or anything really made in the last decade.

I used to have a VM specifically set-up for pservers but it's worthless after seeing what kind of retards run them so I just nuked it.
Also too many Balkan & Mexican people on them.

Know what is really fucking cool though?
Being THE chosen one (like every other zoomer mulatto who still plays the game) who goes on a linear storyline with lots of queer and bipoc folx and earning participation trophy gear
>>
>>738307528
Late Millennials and early zoomers were the ones who got to experienced it the most.
It feels weird to realize the world likely will never be the same ever again. and most people will forget about it. it will only lingers in memories.
>>
>>738308065
>the world likely will never be the same ever again
it won't with 3+ billion chinks, indians and other assorted low IQ shitskins fucking everything up
>>
>>738307528
I hate silver XP theme.
>>
>>738307761
Same I quit right before og naxx came out. Then came back for BC and the game just never grabbed me like it did. The first year or two of wow was pure magic.

It's scary that people in the future will look back at current slop and think it was genuinely good and nostalgic.
>>
>>738307528
this, it's no longer the same when you're playing an old game years later.
>>
>>738307528
I'll be honest, I don't miss having to wait all day for something to download

Yeah just look at this trhead of depressed epstenlennials think wow was ever anything but the most dogshit and genrekilling normalfagcore threadmill.
>>
>>738308365
I had a very similar path with it actually. Quit a little after AQ came out, came back for BC but just wasn't the same, leveled to max then quit forever.
>>
>Being nostalgic for Windows XP

Never thought I'd live to see this shit.
>>
>>738308861
How exactly is WoW a genre killer? It's not their fault every other MMO is dogshit that cannot out-do current nu-WoW.
>>
i was in a highend guild in vanilla that cleared all content
which in retrospect i found out was extremely rare
they were a good bunch and i learnt better to relax socially by interacting with them almost daily on voicecoms
i look back on that time fondly, but i do not wish to taint it by trying wow classic or private servers
its just a cherished memory

I don't feel bad for zoomers at all, they literally ruined the entire entertainment industry.
>>
>>738309017
Millennials did that tho
>>
>>738309079
Nope zoomers did, you literally complain about everything, we never did.
>>
>>738309079
Gen x too, zoomers are only now in their 20s and 30s they haven't had the buying power to shape markets, and legit boomers don't really play vidya
>>
>>738309017
Nigger zoomers had 0 purchasing power when the industry was ruined. its literally all people over 30 who play diablo 4 or gachas. Kill yourself
>>
>>738308861
zoomjeet malding lmao
>>
wow was never a good game and it killed the MMO genre
blizztroon cultists will never admit to this even as they keep giving money to their increasingly tranny infested company
>>
>>738307728
>WoW then
>first quest is killing 10 mangy wolves and picking 10 flowers
>final quest is killing a dragon in her lair in an epic encounter after uncovering her secret plot to destabilize the ruling government through a series

>WoW now
>first quest is killing a dragon that has been terrorizing the world for the past millennium (except this was all off-screen, don't worry about it) that you handle in a 3-minute scripted cutscene where the NPCs do all the work
>final quest is picking flowers for a gay couple
>>
>>738308960
XP, Vista, 7 were all decent. Nobody is nostalgic for windows 8. Nobody will be nostalgic for windows 11
>>
>>738310509
>Vista was decent
It's literally the worst operating system they ever created.
>>
>MMOs
>good videogames

Lol, lmao even
>>
>>738310559

>go to an internet cafe /LAN party place with 6 friends, intending on shit like halo and battle for middle earth
>stuff that only one of us owns but we all like to play
>4 of them play WoW like they do at home
>the other guy runs into another friend and they play CS:S, which i join for a bit but they're only playing main CTvT mode and i like custom shit
>end up playing oblivion because i've seen ads for it and never played a game so open before
>friends make fun of me for playing a single player game like it's a sin to not enjoy WoW or competitive FPS to the point of playing them for 6hrs solid
>>
>>738312385
Nah, Chinese use VPNs to massive quantities. That's how they are review bombing games like STS2. Ironically online ID for games would be as close to a true region lock as you could get.

wowfags have always been like this, they throw a tantrum whenever anyone quits their shitty wageslave prison for greener pastures
>>
>>738307528
WoW was never good, you had fun in spite of the game because you were young and doing something with your friends.
>>
>and good operating systems
I'm playing plenty of good games on my Arch Linux GNOME setup
>>
>>738312419
>friends make fun of me for playing a single player game like it's a sin to not enjoy WoW or competitive FPS
Some things never change huh
I got a few retards asking me what is the point of playing SP if I cannot show any of the gear/items to other people
>>
I host my own WoW server and connect to it on my XP PC
>>
If you hate people and like to kill them like me it was good times, now everyone dont care about anything more than raids and esex pathetic shit
>>
>>738307528
I remember installing this game on my local LAN café's computers. Took almost the entire god damn day.
My reward was one free session of gaming at the café
