I have never played it before. Is it worth giving it a try now? How significant are the updates? I tried their dune game when it was on a free weekend and uninstalled after like 2 hours, was way too jank.

The best way to win in pvp is to avoid pvp at all coast or use cheats and bugs. Clans just report each other to trigger auto bans. The main points of interest in Exiles are spots where you can build unraidable (imagine pvping in pvp game OOF) bases. You must outreport the opponent to claim them. Then you raid solo players bases 20 vs 1 when they sleep and use cheats/reports to beat them if they're trying to defend.
