Guile is regarded as one of the most honest characters to fight against because you KNOW what he's going to do. He has nothing to surprise you with so fighting him is a matter of precision and knowing exact ranges of things. If he's crouching at the other end of the screen he wants you to try to jump a Sonic Boom so it's up to you to know what range his Flash Kick can hit at and bait it.

zoners can't be honest
you're winning neutral from fullscreen, for free

Rushdown characters who have frame advantage on block are the dishonest ones, since that just encourages unga bunga, endless 50/50s, and being carried by your character.

Ah yes Guile who has exactly two moves, so he cannot punch in any way, throw, do a forward advancing attack or create a 50/50 mix up.

Just because he has 2 specials it doesnt mean he only has 2 usable moves, Guile without his f.HP or his sweep would be awful to play.
Its also not like his moveset remains the same through the games, Capcom gives him some new stuff here and there, specially with these past 2 games they have been diversifying his special move selection.

I think this sort of zoning is more dishonest than the way Guile does it.

Guile is playing keep out, not lockdown. You're meant to see what he's doing at all times and just need to work around it, not dealing with someone who can throw things out to your side of the screen with no warning.

Guile is the 'normals' character. He has a billion normals.

>Now everyone uses him in Classic because his damage is fucking absurd
Who knew the FGC were a bunch of fucking parrots.

Guile was fun in SF5, especially after they gave him Dive Sonic. Easily one of the coolest V-Skill IIs and a huge shift for Guile from a conceptual standpoint.

You're right but Capcom is also probably more reliant on peoples' consistent understanding of the pillars of Guile's gameplay moreso than any other character than maybe Ryu. Both from an offensive and defensive perspective Capcom is fine with everyone knowing Guile is centered around what he can do from game to game without really trying to mix that up.

You fight Guile, you know what to do. You're playing as Guile, you know what to do. They can spice it up from time to time but rarely does it change what to expect when fighting him. They're willing to take risks more with other characters (like Ken or Vega).

Sad times for Guilers like me
