How am I supposed to finish my steam backlog of 750 games if I can only play games for an hour a day?
>>
spend less of your free time browsing dogshit sites like 4chan or watching useless youtube videos and you'll have more time to play games
>>
>>738309936
Basically, you forcibly dedicate more of your time to playing the games. So, instead of, say, sleeping or working or eating or bathing or anything else, really, you just spend the time playing the games instead.

Glad I could help. Press like and subscribe if you’d like more future advice.

This is why Gaben has 50 yachts

I'd say spend less time stalking women

You don't. Why do you want to finish it anyway?

this would help

I have 300+ games in my steam backlog, plus I never had a SNES growing up so I want to go back and play a bunch of those games. I realized recently I probably won't be able to make a good dent in my backlog until I'm retired

actually are there any sites out there that tell you how many hours of game you have in your backlog? Maybe it could cross reference your Steam library vs HowLongToBeat or something

lol, are you a underage kid?

Try asking an LLM? Though in my experience GPT tends to get confused when you ask it to organize too much data at once. Haven’t tried it with Claude yet, but I hear that one’s better with calculations

1 don't call it a backlog, but a list of great stuff to play
2 you objective is not to "finish it" but to have a repository of great experiences to choose based on your mood for a genre/whatever
3 enjoy the fucking game you are playing and don't think about "omg I have another 700 of them on queue"

No one does this for books, music or movies. Why the fuck should you give yourself anxiety over a fucking hobby that you use to chill.
>>
>>738309936
You'll never finish it. 750 games is probably more than you could play in a lifetime if they're any reasonable length. It's a game a week for like 15 years.

I wonder what it is that causes people to have this attitude towards vidya. I had the same outlook on it and actually managed to crush a fuck ton of backlogged games until I reached a point where I got burned out big time and realized that there was literally NOTHING to be gained from forcing myself to play a game I wasn’t enjoying.

I guess I was under the impression I’d uncover some highly important game design secret if I played through enough games. And maybe I did without actually consciously realizing it. Because now I know for goddam certain that there’s no sense in wasting my time playing a game that offers me nothing; not even enjoyment.

You'll get burned out after like 20 games in a year and just stop playing altogether. Videogames in general don't have that sort value to commit at that level. The hobby is just too shallow.
>>
>>738309936
Why did you buy 750 games you don't have time to play?

There is a site called how long to beat, which can give you a good idea on how fast you can go through a game. I find the faster hours unbelievable at times though.
I need to finish smaller games again as well. They are piling up in my backlog and it's hard to find time with a kid.

>very mild interest in [GAME]
>check steam
>it's on sale for 95% off
>24 hours left in steam sale
>the dumbest FOMO in the world kicks in
I've been making this same mistake over and over again every summer for 20 years now

>>738311368
yeah I plugged my stuff into that website and it's telling me at my current play speed, it'll take me ~20 years to play all these games. And that's only counting the games with 0 hours on my account (so it skipped the ones where I loaded it up and just played for an hour and never went back to it) AND it's assuming I totally stop getting new games, AND it's not counting all the games on my console backlog. I'm fucked.

You don't?

Valve knows how to sell useless crap to people. All those shit games you bought because "they were on sale" were carefully put in your face at the right time so you buy them. The convenience of Steam and buying stuff with as little as two clicks makes it hard to pass on such "deals". Every action you take on Steam was carefully engineered by Valve. They have access to the data of millions of users and use it very carefully to coerce you to do one thing, and one thing only: spend, spend, spend.

They know you will never going to play those shit games. But they'll serve you some more. And if your IQ is low enough, you'll start buying their overpriced Made in China hardware.

Man, this made me crack up for some reason.

Bruh just cut your losses and move on. Or at the very least start being more picky when it comes to what you’re adding to your Steam library. You may just feel guilty about the sunk cost of all those games. Just stop adding more to it unless it’s one that you really, REALLY want to buy.

>Twenty years
I bet there are dozens of games in that list that are not worth playing. Just go for games you feel like playing and then go through them randomly. If it's not fun, just drop it.

I'm not OP I'm just in the same situation. Not losing sleep over it, it's just kind of funny. I'm more annoyed at myself for wasting a bunch of money on shit I will literally never play

Like just picking out a game out at random: apparently I bough NBA 2k15 and spent a grand total of 1 hour playing it. What the fuck was I thinking lmao

Sounds like you are mad at people spending an occasional fiver that would make you file bankruptcy in your case. LOL
