>4x strategy game>"Season 10"Jesus fucking Christ
>>738312684Paracucks are worse than Scam Citizen believers at this point.
>>738312684>Devs have bloated this game with so much DLC that there's now a subscription service>Crusader Kings 3 now has one too despite the game having 4 years worth of DLCThe fuck?
>>738312684>>738312828Do they give you an easy way to disable wide swaths of content you don't want to engage with? Honest question, I don't play 4X stuff since I realized how bad I was at it.
>>738312806but there's actually a game to play
>>738312684Is still runs of 1 core?
>>738312684They just add 3 DLCs into the base game for free so it's not that bad.
>>738312684Pay up piggies, new $40 dlc is releasing!
>>738312684God why not just make a sequel already?
>>738312684Just pirate the dlc.
>>738312684I'm unironically quite hyped for the Nomads dlc. I've always wanted to larp as Craftworld Eldar in smellaris but it has not been possible until perhaps now with the upcoming DLC. I just have to hope that Nomads can make use of gateways and build them as well.
>>738313153That solves nothing actually. When you have 50 content packs ranging from essential to utter garbage, that means I need to do research on your game before I get to play it.I don't want to do research. I want a cohesive, finished product sold once.
>>738313236Sounds like a you problem to me.
>>738312684I hope they make the sequel turn-based.
>>738313236Wait until this nigga learns about the board game industry that inspired this dlc practice
>>738313236>that means I need to do research on your game before I get to play it.>I don't want to do research. I want a cohesive, finished product sold once.Look at this bitchmade, low-Test retard faggot.Do you have any idea how long I had to research the last car I bought? Or even how long I spent looking up different models of dishwasher before I bought one?!
>>738313643>car20,000 dollars>dishwasher500 dollars>game100 dollars
>>738312892You can turn off specific DLCs, yes. But the way paradox does their DLCs they have little bits of shit that is actually useful mixed into the DLC with all the random crap you never touch.
>>738312684All that is trash is easily heard in the void.
>>738314478Brutal how last 2 entry is complete tone deaf compared to 1st one
>>738312957game? what game? It's literally pop up windows - the game. Nothing cool or interesting happens in this fucking game. It's all text and some picture that doesn't even fit the event, because they couldn't be arsed to pay some stupid artist to draw something new pictures. Everything is so fucking boring in this game, the combat is just who has the bigger numbers + some barely understandable modifiers. And all of this is because the fucking game is balanced around multiplayer. FUCK multiplayer, I don't want FUCKING BALANCE in a 4x game, I want to go on crazy space adventures, discover absolutely insane shit that could warp how my faction plays, some really bizarro shit. Instead it's all text windows. The music is nice, but at this point the magic of the game is fully gone. Fuck Stellaris.
>>738314557DoK is pretty good, the Ghaalsien being the absolutely correct real protagonists the whole game is a great choice.>NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU'RE GOING TO BRING GOD'S WRATH DOWN ON US>NO ONE WILL SURVIVE>WE HAVE TO STOP YOU>S'Jet: hehehe ancient shipwreck go boomI honestly think the real problems narratively are Homeworld 2 and 3 alone, because FFFFFUCK the ancient progenitor hyperspace core bullshit, fuck Makaan and the whole prophecy bit.Khar Toba was a fucking deportation barge. What the FUCK were the Taiidan doing putting the ancient infinite V8 Engine of Destiny in a DHS prison bus? It makes zero sense and has zero thematic connection to the first two games. Homeworld works best as a standalone, with Cataclysm being the real Homeworld 2, since Cataclysm had more respect for the base game's lore and events. It's criminal they never got a remaster, and all we got isntead was a throw-away three-unit Somtaaw DLC pack for HW3's Wargames. What a dumpster fire.
>>738312892Yeah all the gay shit can be disabled.
What's wrong with this, exactly? Put it into words.
>>738314851tldr
>>738314851>its just who has the biggest numbersTheres some planning. I like running missle/torpedo navies. You can hit above your weight by a lot just because you can ignore sheilds.
>>738312684>game is so bloated the "right" way to play it is to buy the subscription and turn off half the DLC>game has completely changed the core of how it works 3-4 times now because they still dont know how to make planets engaging>game STILL runs like shit on a 9950x3d2 + 5090 toward the end of a run>doomstacks are still the metaembarrassing.
>>738315041
>>738314923Taiidan didn't put the MacGuffin Higaaran's somehow fit it into their jail ships and it somehow was one of the jew ships which actually survived the journey without anybody ever realizing it.
>>738315289>jewFew*Fucking hell 4chan made me develop reflex to write jew it's fucking over bros.
>finally abandon pop cards>new population system actually simulates numbers>it quantifies them in 1k increments >not 1m increments What in the actual fuck. SpaceX has 15k employees. How the fuck is a planet with 8k people launching an interstellar empire? Even 8 million is low but I'd take it over this. No clue why they decided this, it costs nothing and actually makes the game immersive controlling millions of people like a real star empire.
>>738315085Yes, against AI. Stellaris is pointless in SP.
>>738312684>dlc is now just scenariosHopefully this means they'll fuck off with expansion packs so I can finally play in peace again.
>>738315378pops aren't individuals
>>738315378Actually even like a 100 pops is millions of people, as evidenced by the "megacorpse" event where it says "millions dead" and kills about a 100 pops max.
It's not even real content it's rebuilding existing mechanics and artificially complexifying them to make it longer and soul crushing. I have fatigue
I've always found official stellaris content to be really blandit has some good mods though, or at least did the last time I played it
>>738312828>Crusader Kings 3 now has one too despite the game having 4 years worth of DLCYeah about that...
>>738315848Half of them are fucking event chains jesus fuck man
>>738315434Stellaris is pretty poorly balanced for MP. Co-op is alright but its already an easy game. >start as devouring swarm>subspace emphasis >rush supremacy >start with 150 naval cap>outposts are basically free>supremacy finishes >225 fleet cap>3.6k fleet corvette fleet by year 10>eliminate player before they even finish first contact>doesn't even matter they rushed fortification Oops. Or we all play devouring swarm/exterminator and its just a slug fest. Despoiler is a close second for the pop harvesting but thats just banking on you making it to mid game. Any late game strat like xenophile, research or spirituality is basically pointless.
>>738315751I wish it articulated this better.
>>738315664>pops aren't individualsThe game should be clear about how many individuals a population represents. But paradox is lazy and retarded so...
>>738312892With CK3 for many dlc systems are added to the base game via updates bit are devoid of content so they are extremely boring. Look at the plague system update. You get just as many plagues with the dlc as without, except all the plagues are extremely deadly smallpox instead of the far less deadly diseases in the dlc.
>>738315848>no papal system expansion>no merchant republic expansion>no silk road expansion>no enclave expansion >disease expansion only adds 2 new diseases that kill your players better>its entirely events, clothing and music This is bad. The only one I bought was rhe courtroom one and its broken as fuck>stack it out with the best shit>my son just inherits 20 points to to every stat>+50 to global opinion Insane.
>>738316250That's the next GUESS WHAT THE NEXT DLC LMAO
>>738312684i got the game on launch and never bought DLC. a couple years after launch it was borderline unplayable because of HUGE stretches of time where nothing happens, intended space for DLC events and shit. and then they kept fucking up core game systems for fun, taking months to fix their changes.it baffles me every time i see that it's getting more shit added and changed for a cool $10-20 bucks
>get planet coaster for cheap, no DLC>absurd amount of buttons in the menus and UI that don't work because I don't have a licensed content pack that's no longer available at all>get planet zoo for cheap, no DLC>trying to set up a walkthrough exhibit>no animal works in it>google it and learn the walkthrough exhibits have 1 kind of butterfly that is compatible in the base game and otherwise it's just meant for sloths and OTHER butterflies sold seperatelyi am kind of fucking tired of this shit
>>738313085did that happen? i saw the post saying 'soon' but i haven't seen anything since
>>738313643>equating hundreds of dollars spent on a practical device everyone knows how to use, to pirating a mid tier entertainment product that at best will require a bunch of learning and experimenting to be enjoyableretard
>>738313886>>car>20,000 dollarsYes, that's why I spent about 20 hours over the course of 2 weeks researching cars.>>dishwasher>500 dollarsMore like 900, but yeah thats why I spent about 5 hours over the course of a week researching dishwashers (just choose a top tier, btw, and go for a steel tub, not plastic)>>game>100 dollarsYou can afford to spend 1 hour over the course of several days looking up what is in what. If not, go play some AAA slop, you brainless fucking mongoloid.
>>738315339it's literally Space Exodusyour fingers knew the truth
Just buy base game and pirate dlc
>>738315752Fuck Stellarisn't. Post comfy space games. Homeworld 1 and Cataclysm. Even dogshit like Surviving Mars is comfy because it actually managed to be the only colony sim where the most game breaking bugs got fixed. Space Haven. That one 2d top down game were you just endlessly raid ships. Endless Sky (escape velocity/nova free open source clone). What other space games are comfy, anons?
This is a garbage civic by the way. Its almost mandatory to pair it with police state. The only cool thing is dumping everything into leadership traits. You can get some insane luminary bonus that arent really worth it. >lithoid for longevity >longevity and quick learner traits >leaders live an average of 250-300 years>going pysonic gives you an immortal leader for cheap>at level 10 leader>22+ stability >80% ethics attraction >and the rest of the generic upgradesIts really not worth it. its one of the hardest starts to any empire ive ever played. You basically generate nothing. You hemorrhage consumer goods, you're comically low on research and alloys, produce barely any minerals or energy production. all because the workers are locked to 0 happiness and you will be at negative amenities on every planet without resort or concecrating planets. You have to spend the entire game balancing reasources just to play a generic slaving empire thats half as good as a normal slaving empire.
>>738317294>generals used to be their own leadership classI miss parts of old stellaris. Modifying army units was cool. Theres a lot of unit types that were cut.
>>738312684That’s actually good. It’s a good game and it’s nice to get new content for it. I haven’t heard a single argument against such system apart from “I’m too poor to buy it and too lazy to pirate it”
>>738317292I used to enjoy GalCiv 2, but mostly because the game repeatedly gifts you near unkillable Uber-ships for free for some reason...And then there's the old game Ascendancy. Has the best Alien race designs ever, great designs, great music ... but the gameplay was way too simplistic and the developers behind it were a bunch of artfag retards who never understood the potential of what they had in their hands. And then they went bankrupt 15 years later, doing nothing. They announced Ascendancy 2, but it never went anywhere.
>>738317294It also just makes no sense whatsoever. There's a reason why autocratic societies like rome tended to form intimate patron-client relationships or give out free food and free entertainment, and why aristocratic-minded thinkers like Aristotle tended to conceive of the relationship between master and servant as being mutually beneficial.
>still no religion/ideology overhaulGuess it doesn't even matter at this point.
>>738312684I pirated the gog version recently and the game gave me an option to spend 100 artifacts to celebrate diversity which would give lots of unity. I closed the game and shift deleted the folder.
>>738318298
The number one reason I dislike stellaris is because focusing on technology is absolutely fucking broken and all playthroughs eventually devolve into pumping research faster than your rival so numbers go upI tried to play different, and all it ends up is getting mogged by someone with more tech eventually, unless you do a federation run, but that is for fags
>>738317294>>738317885On top of that: you WILL be bodied by anyone besides a pacifist empire. I cant stress how weak you'll be by 2250-2300. Because you'll be in the negatives for most reasources while expanding, you'll have absolutely no room to manage scientists and you will lag behind if you havent been wiped out in the first 50 years.
>>738317294I think the most insane start is the synthetic fertility one just because it'd leave your planets with very few workers and it depends entirely on your galaxy settings for research costs. You'd have basically no economy after the pops are gone but instead have a building that generates a lot of resources very efficiently for an energy upkeep that you can't really pay without workers and instead have to trade away your resources to pay for it, but this depends on how fast you finish researching synths and the corresponding administration research that lets them be leaders. If you got through this whole thing and you choose to keep the identities in the identity repository you'd have a building that will supercharge your research compared to most other empires in the galaxy but you're extremely fragile before you restart your economy with robots.
>>738317724Is that the one that was released for free under a different name?>Potential squanderedPain. So many games that could've been and instead we have to either enjoy the hidden gems of today or trawl through bargain bins.
>>738318298>the game gave me an option to spend 100 artifacts to celebrate diversityHaven't played for ages, but aren't these dependent on your civ ethos? For example, if you have Xenophobe you instead get either a different event, or the same event but with different flavor text.
>>738314851Imagine being so stupid you get filtered by 4x games.
>>738323814I had authoritarian + militant government.
>>738323997>>738323814actually it mightve been because a pre ftl civ matured out and I absorbed them and gave them residence although I put full racist no colonies no resettle restrictions on them.
>>738312684Stellaris doesn't have any strategy though, it's DnD RPG masquerading as a "strategy" game. You pick a build at the beginning, steamroll content based on your build strength and subsequent dice rolls aka random events and... Well that's all there fucking is!
>>738315914And that's why it's shit. SP has no challenge and MP has autists with game breaking civs. Why do people play this pos?
