Its pretty much what you'd expect from a single game from an mmo studio. A lot of filler content, incoherent story, but a huge and detailed world with a shit ton to do. Hopefully more MMO studios try this, like I'd love to see a ZOS single player elder scrolls game like this.

All the hordes of bandits can be dealt with by simply holding RT
Bosses are insanely easy and can be repeatedly stun locked. Devs had to make them teleport / go invisible to create any semblance of challenge at all
All the weapons/amor/accessories have the same stats
All the shops sell the same crap
All the npcs have the same model and have no unique dialog
The world looks cool but its empty and not worth exploring
Puzzles are generic and boring
The movement is frustrating to say the least. I can literally set my controller down and pick up my phone and my character will still be finishing up his walk animation.
Lots of 2-button input reads dont work correctly. Can't tell you how many times I've shot my bow trying to switch weapons or jumped randomly trying to talk to someone.

It's just not a good game. It's not fun or satisfying to play in any way. Just a boring, easy, slop filled, time sink. People have sunk hundreds of hours into it though so they'll freak out if you bring any of this up.

the starting hour is disjointed for sure, but I'd imagine Kliff would be a bit curious of those strange happenings after just having been resurrected. The main issue is that you're told to be a good samaritan, but then as soon as your get to town these seemingly random deeds present themselves to you in a quick pace as main quest objectives. It isn't clearly show how Kliff knows "what to do" next, so it feels very videogamey and disjointed. The main questline could have been Kliff was asking around town for the Greymanes, while opportunities for being good and humanitarian could have been implemented more naturally. The issue for the dev would be that the player could have skipped them easily, so a natural interaction would still have to be implemented or guided towards in the main quest.
Once you get back to the ground from the abyss again things start to make more sense imo

The main offender to me is the fucking key. All they had to do was establish from the start that it leads to the castle. Just have the beggar say "use this key on the missing guy's door".
Now if you weren't a soulless mmo dev you would've made the challenge of getting into the castle open ended. Let the player buy the clothing, do the chimney quest or hey, just climb the wall.
The weirdest shit is that they actually do that with the mental asylum later on. That mission is actually open ended and offers you multiple methods for getting in.

My head canon here is Kliff maintains some level of autonomy throughout the game. That's why he's still walking when you put the controller down, or jumping when youre trying to interact with someone. That's why none of the missions ever justify themselves and the objective often spoils what is about to happen. That's why Kliff is attacking in random directions when you're clearly trying to push him somewhere else. It's because Kliff is a real life person who is trying his best to reject our attempts to control him.

It's a masterclass in optimization. It's using software raytracing thst can run on old cards. There are concessioms with the resolution of the ray tracing but it looks good enough and newer cards can run it at max lighting and denoisers. It does most of its geometry at the shader level using parallax occlusion, uses smaller textures to make big ones like legos, has highly optimized 3d models, etc.
