Wii U's a weird transitional console who's entire lineup turned into the launch titles of the Switch. I think that has never happened before.

Without moving an inch. Insanely good. The switch did the same gimmick infinitely worse, 99% of people just use their switch as either a handheld or a home console, very little switching at all. It's so much less convenient.You can even do shit like controlling the TV volume from your gamepad, it's ridiculously convenient. It was designed to be unobtrusive, so you could be playing games on the family TV and if someone wanted to watch football you could just swap it over to football with one button press and keep playing your game on the gamepad like nothing happened. You could plug headphones into the gamepad while playing your game on the TV. It was awesome.

I can play like half of the Nintendo 64's library at 4K unlocked framerate with mods right now, I run Archipelago randomizers with Majora's Mask weekly with some friends, it's awesome. Even at your most reductive smug retro gamer asshole you have to admit that it's a better time than ever to actually play those old video games. What you really miss is coming home after getting your HW done in school, sitting on a couch and playing some video games, eating your mom's cooking and then getting ready to go play laser tag or visit a friend's house to play Melee instead of worrying about the Iraq War.
