I'll admit that for me it was a kneejerk nostalgia based reaction. But the more I look at it, the uglier it gets. It's like they tried to recapture the puppet aesthetic but they pushed the animal designs too far. The only SNES puppet that doesn't closely resemble the N64 art is Slippy, and even that was a minor change, just made him smoother.This new design is pushing realism right into the uncanny valley.
