This game came out nearly a decade before I was born, but I still insist MK lost its way when it abandoned orientalism.

This is Trilogy, so 1996. Are you 20 or something?

Jump Kick

MK Bosses were not hard until MK9.
Shout out to Noob Saibot for being a dirty asshole who introduces you to run combos.
I kind of want MK Legacy but it is a lazy rom dump.

It always felt wrong that Mortaro did not have fatalities originally.
>>

I watched this video with a bunch of neat combos and tricks to cheese him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxNLOiJEUe8
But that's kind of lame instead of taking on him the way God intended

Jesus christ some people here are genuinely mentally ill :|
>>
lol yeah you can only beat him by cheesing him out. It's good though. Takes a while to figure out what works. That jump-forward + low kick seems to get him a lot.

I really wish they just remade this game almost exactly the same but with a slightly higher resolution, nicer voice samples and sounds, and maybe better art for the fatalities lol. Instead of 16 femurs exploding out, maybe some other parts instead.

There's a mentally ill retard presumably with dementia that does nothing but making threads about the single player mode in fighting games all day, and all he's been doing all this time has been holding up-back. For months. Every day.
>>
>>738372487
I've seen too many fan mods to the point I suffer from an auto inflicted Mandela effect.
Which was the first boss in MK to have fatalities? I want to say Shao Khan in MK3 because it did a stage fatality at times.
Eventually MKT would give every boss a fatality but most of them involved people exploding into groups of torsos and femurs.

Also OP which version of MKT are you playing? The Pc version plus the fan patch is the GOAT.

I remember Kintaro being harder in MKII. Possibly because the shittier arcade in town was close enough to ride my bike to and they had an MKII cabinet that was fucked up and automatically dropped you into very hard set Kintaro whenever you played. Basically a waste of 50 cents but I still tried it a ton despite never winning. Yes there was more than one arcade plus games at several other stores in a small shitty town with 25k people
>>
>>738372740
Wow, what a faggot.
Now, officer, are you planning to do anything about the recurring faggot that spams twitter screencap threads or the people making Star Fox every 5 minutes?
Because I will take whatever this is over that shit.

Honestly, if you are a larger faggot for keeping tabs.
Lol, cucked by a MK schizo.
>>
>>738372745
I'm playing MK Trilogy. Got Duckstation a few days ago because I wanted to revisit some old games. Having fun here and there. Life's good.
>The Pc version plus the fan patch is the GOAT.
I'll take a look. Don't know shit about MK versions tbqh

I will take ten million star fox threads over a single thread about upbacking against the cpu in fighting games lol
>>
>>738372812
>and automatically dropped you into very hard set Kintaro whenever you played.
No, that is just how MK ramped up the difficulty.
The game was PAY to win. The CPU would ramp its difficulty to 11 but that counter then drop slightly per consecutive loss.
So if you continued like 8 - 11 times, the CPU would drop around 7 which was very beatable, giving the illusion of skill.
At the highest difficulty setting, the CPU cheated with frame perfect reflexes capable of blocking attacks immediately after the button press.
>>
>>738373003
NTA but Jesus, that's a sad knowledge to gain today. Now I wonder how many fighting games were pulling shit like that.
>>
>>738372923
Well you picked a perfect day.
It is rare that a videogame thread stays up.
And I want to talk about MK, kindly go fuck yourself.
The Star Fox game looks okay too
>>

>>
>>738373115
Those load times are blazingly fast compared to the stuff we are used to today.
>>
>>738371461
What game is that?
>>
It's interesting to put some versions side by side. By Armageddon, when you defeated an opponent between rounds, the characters went to their positions to initiate another round in the same scene, literally walking to their places. In old MK it's just a new screen with the fighters opposing each other. Honestly, making them walk feels like a waste and I suspect it makes no difference to 80% of gamers lol
>>
>>738373064
We kind of knew that but then a larger faggot would show up after beating a sub boss and play you with more quarters so yeah, arcades were kind of shitty but the games were great.

It was the reverse of mobile gaming.

SHAO KHAN: A kick takes away half of your health
MOTARO: A kick takes away half of your health but he's also fast to deliver a second kick
>>
>>738373364
I actually liked the animations.
What I did not like however is that stage fatalities had become hazards and in that instance you would see an opponent turn into ash, and then the screen would reset like in older MK games.
So watching your opponent's character turn into red paste by a crusher was just an ouchie.
Odd decision.

Not a fan of "Make your own fatality" either.
MK really wanted to be Soul Calibur in the 3D era.
>>
>>738371461
It sucks him and Shao Khan did not have fatalities afaik
>>
>>738373003
>At the highest difficulty setting, the CPU cheated with frame perfect reflexes capable of blocking attacks immediately after the button press.
Its called input reading and a lot of games had it. You barely even hover your finger over a button and the CPU already has a perfect counter to it. Dishonest difficulty.
>>
>>738373003
Kintaro was the first guy you played on this one. It would show you at the bottom of the tier fighting whoever but it was always Kintaro. I beat him a few times on other machines but never on that one. Never got through Shao Khan on any of them. Usually just drop a dollar and fuck off to play Virtua Fighter 2 where Kage would fucking obliterate you after three wins
>>
>>738372913
The dos version has less crashes, but can't be played online.
The windows version crashes more often, but can be played online.
>>
>>738373572
Only in the N64 version. Here's Shao Kahn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqSe4bfcAco
>>
I loved that Shao Kahn was the announcer in older games, and he would say "*I* win" instead of "Shao Kahn wins"
>>
>>738373715
Good enough, though. I'm playing very sporadically, for the occasional fun and challenge, the CPU is fine

MK3 is easy because you have the run button to outpace the AI's usual psychic bullshit. Kabal especially lets you cheese through the game.
>>
Every classic era MK can be beaten by alternating between uppercuts and low kicks, which is something I found weird because the games both have good combo tech and input reading AI, yet the AI just doesn’t have a counter for uppercut spam.

MK was riding off the 80s and 90s ninja and kung-fu craze.

As such, it operates off of 80’s and 90’s Hollywood style orientalism rather than authenticity. You couldn’t get Japanese things like ninjas co-existing with clearly Chinese aesthetics otherwise.
>>
>>738382407
Capcom and other companies do the same and their games are actually good.

>no Deception
The PS2 trilogy is kino, but I actually think Deadly Alliance is the weakest of the 3 purely because of the lack of stage fatalities and the fact that the Konquest Mode is phoned in compared to Deception’s and Armageddon’s.

Try the 70s. It's literally a copy of Enter the Dragon and Bruce Lee. Kind of crazy I even have to post this.
>>
>>738386570
It began in the 70s, but continued all the way through the 80s and 90s. Plus, ninjas didn’t really enter the western cultural consciousness until the 80s, and ninjas are arguably the most iconic part of MK.

Back then we had to git a lot more gud than today
Videogames today are pure fucking onions by default (with some exceptions and understandably: not everyone can put hours on it and moms need to play videogames, too). You have to tweak it to your own taste. We used to get pure pain out of the box in many cases.
>>
>>738387396
The downside is that the difficulty wasn’t always fair though. Some things in old games were deliberately designed to be bullshit to sell strategy guides.

For Christ's sake, anon. It's really fucking cheap and it's an indie game. Literally go trim someone's lawn to buy it. I'm not going to help you pirate, but if you absolutely must, there is no DRM and the game is available in major pirate sites. The version is this one: V0.2.50.10.
