>>738378674Spellbreak was fun. I played it a lot with a friend when it came out on ps4. We were absolutely beasting. We were MLG tier, steamrolling everyone other than 1 or 2 teams we came across. Then we figured out we were mostly playing against bots because the game was dead as fuck. Never played after that.
>>738379757you can still play dota too
>>738378674wc3 custom games
>>738378674>its not actually dead
>>738379987not dead, people are still making new customs and are playing maps online (old and new)
Killing Floor.
Legends of Runeterra
>>738379685I miss that multiplayer mode. I know it's just The Ship but with parkour, but holy fuck that parkour added a LOT to the experience. It especially sucks, because the lobby size is small enough that you totally do it as a private group game night thing, but then Uplay being involved just sabotages the whole thing all over again.
>No PC port>Servers are dead>I will never ambush niggas as Big Bull again with charged dash grab as they are duking it out and then killsteal both of them like a fat ugly bastard while Unlimited resources blasts in my earshttps://youtu.be/rCJjb6pVRYM?si=unwZg4QAZClMRWOjIt was fucking jank as shit and SP was laughably barebones but goddamn experiencing the absolute fucking clusterfuck chaos of online in this game during launch months was magical, there's really nothing else like it to this day
>>738378674Or the game has changed so much it doesn't look like what you used to enjoyoverwatch
>>738379950not the samegame died after ti3 when they fucked the balance
I miss when DRG was at its peak and had a shitload of players.I dont know how they pulled it off but this was the one coop game that made it fun to play with randoms
>>738380054not dead by a long shot you can find players any time of day
>>738378674Literally the only person on the planet who clicked launch on this game today.
>>738380161Because it was really casual, really easy, and had a lot of non-verbal communication tools. Being able to ping and cheer without typing or saying anything goes a long way.
>>738378674All the WW1 games. That "Over the Top" game was rad as hell, Im glad I got in when it was active.I really wish the devs of these kinds of games would realize that they have a shelf life and to make a singleplayer component. Its like if Mount and Blade was only the multiplayer, it wouldnt last, the singleplayer gives it immortality and I wish to see a WW1 game treated the same way. Such a shame.
>>738378674This is why I don't get too deep into multiplayer.
I still play a lot of CS:2, but it's genuinely upsetting to me that the workshop is almost entirely flooded with "aim" maps that redirect you to some russian server where they try to spam you with ads to buy shit instead of fun stuff. Why the fuck didn't Valve make an SDK for linux users who will actually play the shit they make.
>>738378674tribes ascend
Yeah can we not use the word 'dead' to describe games that just don't have anyone playing them (or even just not very MANY people playing them) when there games that are actually dead in that they literally no longer function
>>738380187not in the latest title lmao
>>738380297I think it's fair to say that there are some games that are impossible to properly play due to a lack of players. Like you'd have to have a miracle to piece together enough players out of the blue to reassemble a 64 player lobby/server for some games, rather than it just being a somewhat big ask for your friend group to all play something that just needs 8-12 players. But yeah there's definitely some examples in this thread where it's less>I can't play this at all because the servers are shut downand aren't even>I can't find players for thisand instead it's just>Having to actually go play the current way that only has 200 or so players feels like too much of a bother for me, so it's dead
>>738380345KF2 and 3 deserve to flop and im glad they did.
>>738380424KF2 didn't flop? It sold fine and a quick check shows it still regularly has multiple thousands online playing it to this day
>>738380484No, don't you understand? A random thirdie on /v/ didn't like the game, so it's a flop! The game isn't the #1 most played game on Steam, so it's a flop! The game didn't move a billion copies, so it's a flop!
>>738378674None really. I have fond memories of some games like Rising Force Online, but I don't mourn them. There are other games that I enjoy just as much which came out, and once those die, there will already be something new again.
>>738378674Ghost in the Shell First Assault
>>738378674Magicka wizard warsParadox just dropped the game, did literally nothing to promote it, added a half-assed moba mode then killed it off foreverI hate paradox so much
>>738379912>>738378674spellbreak might had a chance if it was anything other than a battle royalepeople were quick to crack down what the meta was and abuse it, they did a terrible way balancing it, which made players leavebut the game would still be alive if it wasnt by the fact the game map was too big for small number of players so they filled with bots if it was just an arena "shooter" would still have a decent player base even if they didnt care about balancing it
>>738378674CS Source>but it's not deadAll the community servers I used to hang out are, and there's barely any fun servers left nowAlso, Gotham City Impostors, it was very fun

>>738378674I don't play multiplayer games. I don't get hurt that way.
>>738378674Killzone 2
>>738380123For what it's worth, it looks like multiplayer works with RPCS3:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXlNT0UkRLUI'm not sure how well it works since I've never played the game myself, but if you can get a community of people playing then you can relive those sweet memories. This game genuinely looks great. It's a real shame that it never was ported to PC at any point, but at least you can get back to kicking ass on multiplayer.
>>738378674Halo reach invasionAnd yes, its dead on mcc too, because for some fuckall reason its hidden in ranked mode
>>738381816Iktf bro... Memories of people yelling BRIDGES BRRRRRRRRIDGES on map select in dogshit Slavic accents... People raging over the fact grain elevator got picked and it'll quickly become a shitshow of an hour long meat grinder. God I miss it.
>>738380345Jesus christ. At this point they should just remake KF1 if they want to survive. I actually would like to see the grunge horror aesthetics with modern graphics. Fuck all the sci fi shit of 2 and 3, the person that was behind that decision should be evaporated.
I haven't played a multiplayer game in ages.Recommend me something that is alive and isn't woke. It doesn't have to be overtly anti-woke but if it has fanservice then it should be proper and not safe horny trash like Marvel Rivals.
>>738378674Every time a Fromsoft game with invasions dies.I need a Dark Souls type game with seasonal PvE content that attracts PvEfags but also has invasions.
I really liked conkers online mode on the xbox 360, I was on that game religiously, if you were playing around the time it released we very likely were in a game together.
>>738385368Doesn't religiously mean once a week for about 90 minutes
>>738378674I remember when R* decided to pull the plug on GTA IV's multiplayera game that had 100 daily players suddenly saw thousands of people crying
>>738378674Probably going to be Marathon for me.
>>738378674For me, it's Steve & Scott era warframe. Before Pablo came in and turned the game into 1 Billion EHP frames shooting 1Billion DPS horsecocks at 1Billion EHP bad guys.
Thievery UT.Basically Thief but multiplayer using the UT99 engine. It worked surprisingly well, never had another MP experience that came close. And because the community, even at the peak, was only a couple of hundred players, everyone knew each other. The banter was unreal. How the fuck can modern multiplayer games compare?
>>738378674all that time and effort getting good at it.where can i transfer the skills??

there were a lot of codebreaker going on THUG2 near the endbut having a keyboard, a controller, codebreaker, an ethernet cord in the ps2 slim, and being decent at THUG2 online was a decent timei liked the game modes paint, and the one where you shoot a fireball
>gets passed around between dev studios>nobody has the manpower/budget/time to make it better>only kept alive by whales for a decade>finally dead as vets finally start quitting>main server couldn't get a fight going except on weekendsThat construction update revived it briefly but man it was sad seeing it slowly bleed to death over a decade.

>>738378674I miss Nosgoth so much bros
>>738378674Holy shit this game was so fucking good. The movement, the character skill sets, the maps. Most fun multiplayer game I've ever played, but I knew it wasn't gonna last when I started sweeping lobbies. People couldn't wrap their head around stamina and dodging and movement tech or even how to game actually worked and how you won. Not to mention individual characters builds and summon loadouts. Too good for this work. Best melee roster I've ever played in a game like this, but people suck and the game never took off. I remember how many people would just fight over the hyper range characters and would suck at them, but they just wanted to do everything possible to avoid midrange and melee combat cause it was too much if a skill check. When you moved tech to them and they just became panicked retards was always fun.
2004-2006 eve online. they stumbled across something magic and were too incompetent to do anything with it outside of slowly ruining it.

>>738378674titanfall 2...
>>738394057Idk what you're coping about but I hope you figure it out
>>738394592Thanks. Seriously though I think they might do a good job with it since that studio's issues are mostly downstream of not actually engaging with the higher difficulty content in their game which a pvp focused game would force on the devs. They're pretty good without that.
>>738394734Oh I see, yeah it could work but to be honest getting something like PS2 to work takes a special kind of networking expertise that is in short supply. Higby basically had to scam Sony to get them to front the money for it and I doubt any AA studio has access to those kinds of resources (and Sony isn't going to fall for it again lol). I think the only way a PS3 gets made is if a group with inordinate resources buys daybreak entirely and then fronts the costs of an entirely new engine (i.e. a miracle)
wolfenstein: enemy territory, servers seem to be filled with bots now
This thread is full of games that are still active with community server. You don't miss the game, you miss whatever community you abandoned as a kid/teen and slowly rotted away until it's gone or practically gone. Either show your interest in those communities by rejoining them or grow up
