ITT really conspicuous shit on game maps that you were positive were going to be A Thing, but turned out to just be decorative

I feel like pokemon has so many of these on account of their incompetence leading to unfinished ideas

this was the exact area that made me give up on the series. What a shit game X was.
>>
>>738385676
It's insane how this looks worse than the ps1 megaman rpg

Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder. Why even have a X on the map if there's no way to get there?

There is a road in Skyrim far east going eastward out of bound. Don't remember where. The invisible wall is literally when the road pass through a bridge.

It is AFAIK the only road going out of bound in the game. Usually Skyrim's invisible walls are hidden by mountains/water. But there, you've got a road under an overpass bridge going bodly into the frontier of the map.

I thought it did something, but nah, it's just there
>>
>>738382189
you catch heatran there in the remakes

half of XY was literally cut and it didnt even receive a third version to try to fix it
>>
>>738386801
What was the reason for this, because Gamefreak was tired of making Pokemon games, spent dev time making other games, failed horribly, and went back to being just a pokemon developer with their tail between their legs, right?
>>
>>738386526
Thanks chatgpt
>>
>>738386884
iirc Masuda leaving in the middle of development due internal conflicts
>>
>>738386884
Feels to me like the relationship between TPC, gamefreak and Nintendo is far more antagonistic then anything. None of them are willing to put the money into the games. Gamefreak doesnt because they sell anyway amd are a glorified contractor, Nintendo and Pokémon company because neither wants to benefit the other.
>>
>>738387230
>None of them are willing to put the money into the games.
Wasn't there a story about how Nintendo offered to pay a third party studio to assist Gamefreak with the mainline games and GF just went "No way fag"

Hoenn is peak level design.
>>
>>738387230
Assuming each company owns 1/3 of the Pokemon company, game freak would need another company to vote to increase the game development budget, I assume. And since a majority of the franchises income is from non-game sales, they might just not care

Masuda faced internal backlash from Sugimori and Ohmori during the development, and also no time as always. Plus, it was their first full 3d game and they are terrible at coding. Anyway we can see where that backlash led us now
>>
>>738387230
actually from teraleak we now know that a lot of decisions are made directly by GF, so if modern games are trash is their fault
>>
>>738385676
Its insane how shit pokemons games started looking after the DS
>>
>>738382189
Is'nt that where one of the Regis is
>>
>>738389002
no, that's a bit south there. this is Scorched Slab, it's a micro cave where you only find the TM Sunny Day in RSE. In ORAS they added a new part of the cave where you can find Heatran
>>
>he doesn't know
>>
There's a part in Ratchet & Clank 3 where you enter a room and there's a tunnel on the ceiling that sticks out of the wall; the underside has one of those magnet-boot floors. IIRC enemies come out of the tunnel and shoot as you while they're standing upside down on the underside of the tunnel. I don't think you're supposed to be able to access the tunnel yourself but I must've spent hours trying to do so regardless.
>>
>>738386127
Never played it but Im guessing the X means that path cant be taken for some lore reason
>>
>>738390036
Was it the Holostar Studios planet? I remember it having a shitload of grav boot zones, iirc it had a big secret area that drops you back into another part of the level from a normally inaccessible spot
>>
>>738388942
Gamefreak's fault, must've been some old boomers who suck at their job
>>
>>738386884
The leaked documents explicitly mention that the lower half would be planned early but only to be implemented in the third version, pokemon Z, because of time issues. The third version got cancelled and the zygarde stuff got shoved into SM which was their anniversary title.
>>
The big wooden fork-tree in Wario Land. Really thought it would be another secret world like Sherbet Land was.
>>
>>738386127
Is that text translatable Greek? Or is it random nonsense?
>>
>>738385676
Mind u ZA DLC could done this but nope just the same town with negative colors for 35$ fuck pkm fans for defending that shit
>>
>>738390808
That explains why zygarde had those unused moves in XY
>>
>>
>>738382189
I remember i spent ages in the ice cavern trying to figure out what the fuck navi was turning green for near the big scythe room. Somehow I got the idea there always an ice tunic and that scythe was a key to unlocking it.
>>
>>738382189
Scorched Slab isn't decorative. It's a small hallway with the TM for Sunny Day at the end and no wild encounters. It's one of the only things ORAS actually improved by giving it more floors, some wild encounters and putting Heatran there.

They spent their time making high res 3D models of the entire pokedex for future proofing only to discard the models and axe half the dex within 2 gens.
>>

A lot of those assets are still used they just have different textures/lighting maps and new animations
>>
>>738388942
But the DS is the worst they looked.

they still use them today retard

The gate to Greeton in Star Ocean 3. I might have to do a playthrough just to get a screenshot...

Apparently, they're living in an industrialized world with golems. The country we go to is just stuck in the medieval era.
>>
>>738382189
It's supposed to be a reference to the cave that Amaterasu fucks off to in Japanese mythology.
>>

Aside from the truck in Red and Blue this fucking thing in Goldeneye is probably the most famous example. Doesn't help that it was planned for something but they didn't want to have too many objectives in the first mission.

There's a level there you retard, you just enter it from the forest. Did you not notice the level icon at the foot of the gigantic tree takes you to a level where you climb a super high fork shaped tree?

I had to look it up since it's been twenty years since I played the game. Yeah, it was that level, and I was talking about the section at 19:22. I don't remember any specific secrets in the level but I ended up finding all the bolts, skill points, and trophies, so I probably didn't miss anything crazy like that.
