I like the World Tour mode and basic tutorial system of Street Fighter 6. Between these two things, I feel like I'm actually learning the game's mechanics and having fun while doing it. I love the art styles of Street Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter III but I'm hesitant to play them because I assume they probably don't have good tutorial modes and Alpha has that whole "ism" thing. It just seems confusing. I'm hoping that learning 6 will give me a good foundation for that will help me be decent at the older games.

jeet fighter 6 is not a real SF game, so no

Too long to explain, but basically no.

I've heard that criticism that "all players play like Ryu". I have noticed that it seems the button input for super attacks is the same for all characters. I think that's good. How would you develop a unique button lay out for super attacks for 25+ characters?

knowing about frames will help but you'll probably be learning sf6 specific stuff instead of fundamentals

Yes, 95% of fighting game concepts and mechanics are the same so learning any one will help you understand almost all of the others and SF6's world tour has a lot of little minigames and sidequests that cover universal concepts like blocking, punishing, anti-airs and the like.

You will understand the game but the pool of players in those games are as deadly like stillwater.

Thanks for this info. Street Fighter 6 features that bar at the bottom of the screen that can go from 0 to 3 and allows you to pull off super attacks (I think that is what they are called). Do Alpha and SF3 don't have a similar super attack mechanism?

That's what I have suspected. My thoughts are, I'm dead if I try to play those games online and I doubt the tutorial modes for any of the Alpha or SF3 games are particularly good so I'm assuming I'll need to lean heavily into youtube videos to understand the mechanics to really learn those games. That's why I was hoping that being competent in SF6 would at least just lay some ground work for wrapping my head around the mechanics of the older SF games.

Yes, Alpha has 1-3 level supers and 3rd has 3 chooseable supers that cost a bar and EX moves that cost some bar. How much bar you have depends on the Super you choose in 3rd e.g SA3 on Ken has 3 Bars, SA2 has 1.

It's just all muscle memory, conditioning yourself into pressing buttons in the right order is like learning an FPS. It's a transferable skill even if games are different
