The campaign is very incomplete, and there are only a handful of scenarios.
It's very fun in terms of the mechanics, so if you're fine with mostly just playing randomly generated maps from templates, then go for it. If not, wait.

Mastatla the white and hellghast are my favorite. Sister Deidre or whatever was busyed, not sure if they changed her yet.

Units wise, they are the 1/2nd best ranged faction.

Ra shoth are functionnal t1's
Cultist are pretty good due to long range, limits attrtion.
Agashot are middling, nothing special
Grand shot are glass cannon, building is expensive and numbers are low, so need to be careful
Concubus are a solid range unit with a bit of utility
Arbitrator are likely the best T6 and archer period. Not as good as archangel statwise but bigger number and paradoxical is amazing
T7 are solid tanky melee with surprising speed and a few nasty ability. Nagic damage immunity protect them from guillotine also

Laws are also very good, and communion is excellent if you keep it maxed

There are several template maps that get randomized but basically they boil down to 1 starting area for each player and then an area in the middle richer in treausres but harder enemies
You can only have 1 hero (hence the name).
At some points in time (dates fixed depending on the map) there is a virtual 1v1 battle between the heroes.
First player to win 2 of those battles win the game.

Does your RAM even have temperature sensors?
You can try disabling XMP for now this should lower the voltage needed so temperature should get lowered as well. Obviously this will also make the performance worse.
Sometimes you will only need to set front intake fans to higher RPM.
The easiest way to check if this is the case is to run Furmark and memtest 5 extreme at the same time. This will heat up the interior of your case nicely.

Many skills and magic cancel each other out.

For ex. you have Battlecraft skill which can give you +10% melee damage and the enemy -10% melee damage; if you both have it it cancels out. Magic skills can give you +1 level magic and -1 level magic to the enemy, again cancelling each out.
Most of those are subskills but it fucking sucks that you fight a strong enemy and suddenly you have to deal with so many debuffs that it's as if your hero was ten levels weaker.

Also magic schools don't automatically give you super strong magic, spells are individually leveled up. The magic school skills replace Wisdom (basic), give you +1 spell level (Advanced), and allow you to auto learn everything unlocked without visiting the mage guilds (Expert). Then you can use subskills for either another +1 spell level, for enemy -1 spell level, or -10% atk/def, or +6 spell power etc.
For spells you can buy them individually and level them up once individually, and maybe artifacts also help I forgot. Spells can have 4 levels max. There's a 5th level, Masterful, but you can't learn that, you can only activate it from spell scroll artifacts. For ex. to cast Haste on every enemy you require a masterful haste scroll.

So basically you just can't max out your skills no matter what since 4 subskills are always optional, and your opponent has shedloads of debuffs too.

You feel powerful in H3 not because the game has or doesn't have overpowered mechanics, but because AI isn't able to use all the mechanics players have learnt to abuse over the years. Imagine if a h3 PvE normie has faced inferno demon farming, or armaggedon spam with black dragons/phoenixes. It's a matter of balance between the player and the AI, as it is about balance between factions. If all the factions were equally overpowered or felt equally underwhelming it would be completely fine, but of course it's better if a game is skewed towards the former more fun option.
