What's the weirdest criticism for a game you've ever heard?
I don't even like Bananza that much but I remember when it came out I heard a ton of people saying "It seems nice, but it's obviously just a DLC for Mario Odyssey spun into a full game."
I genuinely have no idea how you could get that impression even if you just watched a trailer and didn't play the game. It's about as similar to Mario Odyssey as Splatoon 3, it's a 3D game where you can control the camera and character with the joysticks, and there is jumping
Again it's not like a masterpiece of a game this just somehow sticks in my head as "wtf are they talking about"

I unironically think it mostly comes down to how the games renders light similarly and how they're both colourful.
Combined with the Nintendo brand and some people just ignore all the distinct and countless differences.

>Too much water

That's a very legitimate criticism of gen 3 pokemon games.

No one said it looked like an Odyssey DLC, what the fuck are you talking about? It’s obviously meant to be the Switch 2’s equivalent to Odyssey, given its a 3D platformer released during the Switch 2 launch window and has high production quality and polish. I was in all the threads when this game came out and not a single soul said it looked like an Odyssey DLC

>It seems nice, but it's obviously just a DLC for Mario Odyssey spun into a full game
Funny thing is that this was basically validated in that one talk the devs gave at a game dev conference (I think?). They said the gameplay spun off from the environmental destruction mechanics in Odyssey, i.e. the Luncheon Kingdom where you break the cheese blocks. In fact that entire kingdom is proto-Bananza even down to its art style looking like blocky garish visual vomit. I'd bet money they originally intended a DLC using those mechanics and then just made it a full game that later got branded into DK

people who call mmos single player games

Its just cope

You're a fucking retard

Too much water is a good criticism, the water levels are literally just tentacool and wingull
>>
>>738399542
It was a mask for a real criticism.
>basically every body of water has one of two encounter pools depending on whether it's freshwater or saltwater
>game is half ocean routes by surface area
>you will be exposed to the saltwater wild pokemon list for like 4+ consecutive hours with literally no variety beyond one route where walimer is added
Of course IGN faggots couldn't actually understand the game well enough to arrive at this conclusion, so they just said "too much water" instead.

I remember someone here once claiming that Shadowrun Returns' (or possibly Dragonfall's at that point) gameplay was just a lame ripoff of League of Legends, which was such a baffling statement that I have to assume he somehow got it confused with another game.
>>
>>738400636
Or it could be as simple as saying there's too much water.
>>
>>738401427
If the water routes had more different water Pokemon, there wouldn't be "too much water", so the criticism clearly isn't accurate.
>>
>>738401482
You're still dealing with water routes which are pretty fucking boring compared to a regular route. This is on top of them being the same as caves where you're getting into encounters every couple of steps instead of only in tall grass unless you use repels.
>>
>>738398128
>it’s just [pre-existing game]
Well except for the different levels, characters, music, storyline, and aesthetics.
>>
>>738401427
>>738400636
"too much water, too little water pokemon." bam done
>>
>>738398128
>What's the weirdest criticism for a game you've ever heard?
my favorite was recommending Mario Odyssey to someone who likes DK Bananza and them telling me it looks boring, and another day I recommend DK Bananza to someone who likes Mario Odyssey and they told me it looks boring. YOU TWO heads together crack
>>
>>738401760
I don't see a problem with caves either and I think the idea that water routes are inherently worse is silly. Why am I supposed to have a way to opt out of every mechanic all the time?
>>
>>738400636
>Of course IGN faggots couldn't actually understand the game well enough to arrive at this conclusion, so they just said "too much water" instead.
Anon, the "too much water" line was just a bullet point at the end of the review. IGN is a bunch of bullshit, but you are being silly. "Too much water" was not the entirety of the argument.
>>
>>738403770
Did the review actually mention the real issue with Hoenn having "too much water", though? No, they just left that as an unexplained floating bullet point at the end of the review.
>>
>>738403943
I wouldn't know, I didn't read the review, as I don't read reviews, especially not IGN.
