You should’ve bought more copies of me.

buying a mediocre game doesn't work. you'll just give them a reason to shit out more mid games.
>>
Command was trash. I was 9 when it released and I could still tell it was a massive step down from 64 and Assault.
>>
I assumed it was successful since they used that design for fox for like the next twenty years.
>>
I was a child that didn hab a DS

>the game that nintendo disowned because the dev was caught on furry erotica sites is good now in retrospect
Command was and is shit. You are retarded. Namco had the right idea with Assault and have been vindicated by everything since.
>>
>>738405085
I still own this game. I bought it for super cheap used in a game store a long time ago, played it once, really hated the gameplay and never touched it again.
>>
>>738405469
Nintendo re-hired the dev to remake 64 on 3DS althoughbeit.
>>
>DS
let me guess, touchscreenslop
>>
For all its (control) flaws and weird fan fiction tier endings, it did have replay-ability and could be iterated on. But it’s the worst selling title of the entire franchise. The people spoke.
>>
>>738405624
Yes, you have a fuel meter and you had to draw your route in the touchscreen to reach all of the required objectives. It was really bad.

Oh no! Anyways.

>bad touch controls
>limited turns

>really bad story
It's a worse version of Star Fox 2. Thank fuck I avoided it like the plague when it came out.
>>
>>738405624

You controlled the airwing with the touchscreen. It sucked.

>>738405718 was less egregious imho. It added a strategy element to the game similar to SF2. Not as fun as 2, but it was an attempt all the same.

The controls are fine (good actually) the real problem is two fold
>very poor variety. there are a million missions, but they're all some flavor of
>>shoot x targets
>>kamikaze the base
>>shoot a (one) missile
>it pretends to be a strategy game, but it's actually a visual novel about Fox getting cucked.

I never said there was.

Star Fox 64 3D was also directed by Cuthbert.

>>
It has great fucking music for the DS.

>>738406067
This, the controls are honestly incredible and really fluid once you get used to it, Prime Hunters tier. I believe you fired with the shoulder buttons and being able to drop bombs anywhere on your radar was awesome.
The best thing about Command was the multiplayer dogfighting, sadly the game didn't sell well enough to have matches after a few years. The single player mode has several dogfights as bosses but the AI is braindead.
I think it suffers from being committed only to all-range style missions, if it had onrails segments to break it up, it'd be better, and the fact that each planet only has like 2 maps that get reused endlessly makes it feel really tedious. They were able to give every pilot a unique ship, so I have to think it was the DS' fault the levels were all the same.

The VN shit was ridiculous, it was all a bunch of relationship drama and a million lines of dialogue, and the endings are super fucking cringe.

It did have great music for DS standards.
>>
>>738406205
There are 9 endings. none of them have anything to do with the space war and are all about relationship drama.
That's the golden ending you get by ghosting Krystal and letting her come crawling back after her woman moment. Yes, to marry Krystal you have to ignore her for the whole game.

3 endings where they break up, One where she's with Panther, one where she's alone and emo and one where Fox forgets about her and lives his best life with Falco
3 where they get back together, one one of which has them married, the other two being status quo resets probably made to fit more games later down the line
There's also the Slippy has 6 kids ending, Dash's grandson becomes evil ending and Falco gets left behind ending.

>Yes, to marry Krystal you have to ignore her for the whole game.
Everything I know about relationships came from this game.

My favorite thing about the "bad" endings are the illustrations of Fox/Krystal getting drunk off their asses in seedy bars while sobbing.
>emo Krystal
Is that the one where she changed her name to "Kursed"? Lmfao

Imamura? Pretty sure I saw him liking gay star fox art as late as right before twitter made likes private.
>>
>>738405085
I remember SF fans were saying it was the best game since 64 when it released. I never had issues with the controls but didn't care for the turn based gameplay or tge mission based gameplay. I just wanted to fly around blasting enemies in actual levels, not enclosed barren open fields.
>>
>>738405085
But I did and I loved it

Tf you talking about? He works for Nintendo Warudo now.

I remember the bosses in this game were pretty cool, like there's one where you chase a giant gorilla and have to shoot him in the ass.

Personally I like Slippy's theme the best but there's lots of cool tracks in it. Panther's theme is hilarious and Wolf's rendition of the Star Wolf Theme is one of the best versions. The map music is pretty catchy too. Lots of great percussion sounds throughout.

>>738407406
Why was all the art for the endings so fucking bad? I guess it's fitting, DeviantArt drawings for FanFiction.net writing.

Some morons actually believe he designed the New Krystal entirely himself and it's obvious to the most casual observer he didn't (because he didn't have the talent).
>>
>>738406649
I remember people were going on about how Command was a modern Star Fox 2, which leads me to think they overfixated on recreating the novelty of that game without addressing the issues or why they scrapped the idea to begin with.
>>
>>738408487
What?

>>738408797
I think what worked for Star Fox 2 was simply that it isn't nearly as long as Command. The missions are faster and the low poly graphics means you can forgive the same arena map being used over and over. In the end SF2's best bits are the base infiltrations which Command doesn't even have!
>>
>>738408797
SFC is even less interesting than SF2.
SF2 everything happens in real time, so you have to play efficiently or else Corneria is going to get blown up while you're busy with something else. Command has a time limit, but you get so much bonus time for killing enemies you end up with more time overall if you kill everything than if you rush through the stage.

I still don't understand why someone is going schizo over the crappy SFC art. All I was really asking was why it looked like shit and really how Nintendo looked at it and said "yeah, that looks perfect for one of our biggest series".
