i did not expect to like this game nearly as much as i do, i think its fucking great.
the mediocre reception i think stems from people thinking it was gonna be a survival horror, and modern gaming audiences basically expecting every game ever to be streamlined to hell and back and have identical control schemes and mechanics, as well as triple a production values.
The only real bad thing i can say is the mission structure can be somewhat repetitive especially when collectibles are missed but it's still a very interesting mix of ideas. A lot of imagination went into making this game and it's suprising how much it works. They were very hard focused on the idea of possession as a game mechanic and carried it to every element. Only game i can think of thats similar is driver san francisco.

They probably never actually used possession mid combat, never got used to parries (which arent even essential, in more cases its better to dodge or just possess another person) and then got whooped and just called the game bad without even trying to understand it.
It's not a button masher by any stretch and a lot of the more difficult fights rely on you abusing posession and passive/active skills of rarities.
It was really bold of them to release a game with this much of a different style of gameplay and i applaud it. It really does feel like a unique take on the action/brawler genre and it deserves recognition. I feel even among cult game fans its overlooked and its just unfortunate.
