tell me the tale of diablo 3 durning its launch and the money auction house
>>
Nah we are all laughing at how shit poe2 is lol
>>
I remember when D3 launched and Monk/Barb/WD were fucking garboshit in Inferno, meanwhile Wizard and Demon Hunter could just glass-cannon their way through everything with ease
>>
Is D3 actually good, never played it
>>
>>738420976
i mean the campaign is certainly nice
>>
>>738420976
it's fun for a bit but gets repetitive at endgame

the gameplay was fun and i like the class designs, runes were really cool. the wizard and enchantress merc were top hotties.
but it didnt have much content after campaign and the itemization is turbo dogshit.
so it's more of a quick blast game, than a hardcore grind to the pinnacle kinda game. i enjoyed my short time with it. there were some fun memes at that time like the fat fuck error 37 guy that became a lolcow, the chinese guy that wrote a sad letter to blizzard when they stopped gold coming out pots to stop bot farms, because he just loved the satisfaction of smashing pots and gold popping out, and all the RMAH shit.

what do you think goes through her head when she puts those thighs on?
>>
>>738420976
I started out as a completely dogshit 3/10 game but over many, many years and five trillion patches (plus one expansion) it clawed its way to 6.5/10 (7/10 if we're generous) which just barely puts it in the "worth a try" category.

do you think that if she was meant to run naked she would refuse it saying that must be some evil witchcraft trying to trick her
>>
>>738420772
I remember friends laughing at me making bard while they all started as op specs, but my insanely overheated barb ended up as taxi for them on inferno lol, also took about 3k euros from battle net before they closed ah down due to dupe chinks
>>
>>738418946
I made so much money I almost quit my job to farm shit in D3 but they canned it so luckily I didn't.
>>

>kill mobs
>get gold
>buy upgrades from auction house
>hit a wall
>get gold
>buy upgrades from auction house
D3 at release was hot garbage and it proved that ARPGs cannot have trading AT ALL.
>>
>>738418946
It was pretty much like PoE, the same garbage model of hitting a wall and then trading in the auction house to get gear upgrades. If you didn't wanna play the market you were looking at infuriating grinds like farming the pots in leoric's crypt or farming pots in the high heavens for weeks.

The good part is that D3 grew up and made a good game about finding your own items and making your own progress while PoE never stopped being trash.

There were 4 difficulties. The 4th one was Inferno.
It was so fucking hard, I hit a brick wall in early act 2. I wasn't the only one, it was most player Tbh.
Problem was that the gear you needed to progress DID NOT drop earlier. You needed to throw your head against the wall at the difficulty you couldn't do, to get gear, to have any chance of progress.
More effective and efficient than trying to kill mobs was "farming" chests all over again and again. Or just buying gear from the RMAH.
It was the moment I stopped playing the game.
It became a completely different game after they overhauled it.
>>
>>738418946
it was genuinely one of the worst experiences i've ever had in games. there was nothing to do but run through the shitty acts and it would take tens of hours to get a single legendary that would be near guaranteed to be useless for you. you could also easily oneshot yourself on enemies that reflect damage.
i made about $3 selling a rare though

Have this image I made 15 years ago, it sums everything up nicely
>>
I remember having someone buy a rare weapon I put on the auction house and I planned to save up the sales money to buy WoW tokens
Then they killed the money house and I'm not sure what happened to the money I had in there.

I liked playing the Monk. It was fun.
>>
>>738418946
I bought it day one, started playing on my own, the input lag was unbearable, I couldn't understand it. Then I realized it was just high ping. The game logic of a single player instance was hosted on their server.
First and last time I bought an always online game.
>>
>>738420976
It's really fun, probably my favorite diablo honestly
>>
>>738418946
it was insanely hard at launch. the hardest difficulty (inferno) was tuned players wearing way better gear than anyone actually had. like the first time you start an inferno game the weak ass zombies in act one had the health pool of elite enemies in the previous difficulty and if you walked near them they would fucking destroy you. melee characters had to gear for full turtle mode and deal no damage in order to survive. ranged classes were all glass cannons. elite enemies could spawn with literal bullshit buffs that made them impossible to kill. they could spawn immune to CC and then you basically just had to run away. my monk could only fight some elites for a couple seconds at a time when my invulnerability cooldown was up. players were engaged in an arms race to find easy farming strategies and exploit them before blizzard patched them. the funniest one was players would just run around in act 4 breaking ceramic jars. it was more lucrative than actually playing the game and fighting enemies because the enemies were fucking strong. the hard enemies also made it more lucrative to just browse the auction house and snipe deals all day rather than farm. people would often sell really good gear for less than it was worth because the itemization was unintuitive. blizzard added additional mechanics to try to make players actually play the game and kill monsters.

ironically the rmah ended up being for more casual use and the gold ah was where the big deals happened. the rmah had a $250 cap but you could sell godly gear for billions of gold. from my experience the rmah seemed popular for middling gear like the $5-10 range. you could also sell your own finds on there and then store the money as bnet credit, then use it to buy gear for yourself. i made like $30 i think.

i kinda liked it but i was a nolife hardcore mmo autist student at the time. the game is in a better state now.

>he wrote all this out for this dogshit game
lol
>>
>>738426786
it was fun
>>
>>738418946
I made ~$200 and paid for the expansion w/ it. Plenty of problems, but I still had fun w/ it desu. The first few seasons of RoS were my favorite. Didn't bother w/ the necro cashgrab or D4.
>>
>>738426707
I read it.
I agree
>>
Staring into og Inferno was the most fun I ever had in the game. There were still big gains to be had in the first two acts over the gear you came into it with so it was a hard grind with the occasional real payoff. The way rare affixes worked made the encounters really fun to grind out.
>>
>>738426909
>it was fun
No

>Staring into og Inferno was the most fun I ever had in the game.
You must be a dull person then
>There were still big gains to be had in the first two acts over the gear you came into it with
Oh yeah, the item that you had before +7, amazing itemization, so fun, just like wow!
>>
>>738429483
grow up
>>
>>738429483
At launch items could roll much higher attack speed values and those did make a tangible difference gameplaywise, but it got nerfed cuz no fun allowed.
>>
>>738420976
4 player couch co-op campaign is pure kino
>>
>>738418946
Still legitimately fun
Just finished a playthrough with monk, WD, and barb
>>
>>738424690
Ok retard how do you share a rock with 4 other people at the same time?
>>
>>738420976
Couch co-op makes it great
