Has any game ever nailed the pulp adventurer explorer feel? I don't think we've ever had a good jungle adventure game.

Uncharted tried, but it's so linear any feeling of exploration sucked.

Deploying engagement bait.
>>
Jungle ruins are a staple generic platformer/action game level trope, at least, which I assume is inspired by this sort of thing

unfortunately rhe modern political climate in the video game industry is extremely opposed to "colonialism" so you are not going to get this in any studio scale game. Some little indies might hit though. I remember Treasure Adventure Game feeling like this.

What does exploring ruins have to do with colonialism

That meme gamecube game aboyt the darkness and roman centurion skeleton guy. Comfy game.

>your weapon is a machete

Far Cry 2 was great for that. I wish it had the hunting system of 3, though.

I know there's some tabletop rpgs, but I'm struggling to think of video games that lean towards pulp novel vibes instead of Indiana Jones (La Mulana, 1001 Spikes, Spelunky, Indiana Jones games, etc.)
>>
>>738433524
I really think it's a stretch to say that that has any bearing on us getting exploration media
>>
>>738427350
The closest for me has always been dungeon crawlers, but they all come with a fantasy or sci-fi lilt.

Yeah, but I file it differently in my mind compared to something like a Solomon Kane novella
>>
>>738439703
That all depends. Solomon Kane did spend time in Africa.
