If there was anyone Kratos would not be haunted by killing it would be Zeus or the other Olympians. And if there was anyone Kratos would not be worried about Atreus killing, it would be Kratos himself if he became like Zeus. Kratos' guilt was about how reckless and blinded by rage he was in his revenge, not the actual killing of the Olympians. They deserved it. Making Kratos a blubbering man-child upset about killing his dad and a bunch of other pieces of shit and that Atreus might do the same to him is not character development, because it ignores his history to insert some modern millennial trauma bullshit about toxic family relationships. Nu-Kratos might as well be a completely different multiversal Kratos from the Soi Universe, where Nu-Kratos never had a wife and child, and was never tormented and betrayed by the gods multiple times along with his family, his friends, and his people.

It still baffles me that they took a Greek guy and made him a fantasy viking. Nothing about him is Greek anymore save for his name, and occasional references to previous games. I personally think it's because modern writers don't read anymore, and therefore Skyrim was their only point of reference for a pre-medieval hero.
