DK's redesign creeped in over the course of 2 years. Even after the first Mario movie there was still Mario Party Jamboree which still has the old DK design and it wasn't until either Mario Kart World or the Switch updating the DK profile icon that people noticed it was changing in the games too.Star Fox's direct had a one-two combo where they redesigned him for the Mario Galaxy movie a month ago and then 2 minutes later showed another redesign that's nothing like it.
