this shit is taking so long that at this rate i'm going to get married and have kids before it comes out.

It's not so bad. Kenshi's modding scene is really taking off now with Re Kenshi. Lot of new QoL mods released and more cool shit should be on the way.
>>
>>738441918
>Re Kenshi
what... first time im hearing this. I have hundreds of hours on kenshi. I haven't been on steam in years, I am pretty sure I have 500+ hours.

dude please, tell me about re kenshi.
>>
Why do you even want this, it's like offline runescape but more boring somehow
>>
>>738441918
ah I never heard of re kenshi because it was never in the steam workshop I assume, unless it's super recent but it seems to have had many releases since 2021
>>
>>738441519
Yeah, the devs are basically radio silent. They used to have some minor updates on kenshi 2, but haven't shown anything in a couple of years already.
Honestly, I'm starting to doubt it's coming out at all.
>>738441918
Got any recommendations? It's been 2 years since my last playthrough, but at the same time I don't feel like replaying if all that's new is some QoL. Are there any new mods that add some good content or mechanics?

>>738442034

Re_Kenshi is a script extender that's been around for a while, but it looks like they made some kind of breakthrough with the recent update, which is why we've been seeing a lot of new mods based on it come out now. These new mods make changes that weren't possible with the original modding tools.
Some examples:

hmm, kino. hopefully we get and equivalent to something like nexelerin in starsector for kenshi. something that just overhauls it enough to be nutty.
>>
>>738442437
This guy's workshop is full of stuff using Re_Kenshi.

You might want to check out Sentient Sands too. It makes your characters speak dialogue through an AI chatbot, might be funny.
>>
>>738442740
>>738442475
>Sentient Sands
I'm a retarded luddite and I've never used AI much. You to have your own local AI version for this right? I imagine it's incredibly heavy on the GPU. What models do people usually use for local installation?
>>
>>738442918
I don't use Sentient Sands but it does say you can use another OpenAI API Compatible Provider.
>>
>>738441519
It's going to be a sidegrade at best like Bannerlord was after years of /v/ anticipating and hyping it up
>>
>>738443325
nooooooooo bro plz

kenshi took a LOOONG time to make. kenshi 2 is also taking long but I just wish they'd do some fucking teasers or some shit. it's been a year since the last "update" and that was just some interview (didnt watch sry lul).

just one fucking screenshot man, or fucking MAIN MENU ART FUCKING GOD DAMNIT DUDE!!!!

Wow stop the fucking presses, they made a rotate item mod
>>
>>738441519
i still remember years and years ago first finding the game and enjoying it and seeing the steam announcement where they say the poll is over and the vote decided that they'll stop kenshi development to start working on the sequel and at the time i was just like oh okay cool
and now i hate their fucking guts those HACKS
>>
>>738444810
>now i hate their fucking guts those HACKS
why, they made a great game
>>
>>738444681
Kenshi had a large modding scene but there wasn't much that could have been done to the engine itself, so something like that finally releasing is actually quite special.
>>
>>738444846
because the world is fucking empty jesus christ it would be so perfect if they just added some more settlements and unique npcs and stuff and then just added some more world state stuff so that each playthrough can feel more unique with seeing which factions ends up taking over whichever towns instead of the super basic system currently
not to mention the super basic outpost raids
>inb4 mods
fuck you people shouldn't have to pay to finish a game they bought
>>
>>738444846
Bitterness against the devs is to be expected at this point. If Kenshi players had a time machine they would do everything they could to stop that poll from happening. Kenshi 2 was not worth it, we don't know a damn thing about Kenshi 2 years later. Kenshi should have continued being developed.
>>
>>738445164
agreed, but maybe the devs want to do a "surprise update" play and overwhelm us with what they've been working on. but even with that hypothesis, they overplayed that hand. there's people begging for updates 2-3 years ago and all of that hope is desiccating.
>>
>>738444846
>they made a barely functional game
ftfy
>>
>>738445249
jankiness =/= barely functioning. I bet you LOVEEEE DEI slop.
>>
>>738441519
I am playing Kenshi and can't figure out combat. Don't wanna look it up on the internet though because I think the game would get boring if I learn it that way.

Still, combat is pretty conterintuitive, you somehow need to fight strong opponents to get your skills up but you'll likely just die or get crippled.
>>
>>738444523
>niggerfaggot flag around the page on a game about slavery and suffering
what the actual fuck is wrong with that website
>>
>>738445164
>>738444810
the poll wasn't about kenshi 2 vs kenshi continuing to be developed and updated
it was kenshi 2 or porting kenshi into UE
I think working on a new game was the better choice
>>
>>738445375
Keep one guy hidden then use him to heal everyone. Most enemies will fuck off after downing you.
You can also drag a fight into a city, the guards will protect you. So long as you can recover under their watch you'll be fine.
>>
>>738445375
>you somehow need to fight strong opponents to get your skills up but you'll likely just die or get crippled.
The game rewards taking risks but they must be well thought out risks.
>>
>>738445275
The world is completely static. Nothing happens without player intervention. Factions and settlements don't interact with each other. Even player interactions with the world are too few, you only get a few named NPCs you can kill yo flip ownership of a few shitty shanty town settlements. There is no dynamic world. There is no content. The entire game is fucking barebones and incomplete.
>>
>>738442475
I have not played this game seriously since 2021 but now I may just have to try it again. Maybe I'll get another 700 hours out of it.
>>
>>738445514
>>738445687
Thanks. I've been mostly dealing drugs to make money but always had piss poor combat related stats.
>>
>>738445481
>what the actual fuck is wrong with that website
ik, hate the faggotry shit but where else are you gonna find kenshifags
>>
>>738445845
>Factions and settlements don't interact with each other
yeah thats why I want some nexelerin-like mod for kenshi. with like actual fucking raids with settlements doing it on each other live like RTS. I agree with you there.

PLEASE GOD CAN SOME VIDEO GAME DEVFAGS TELL ME IF THIS IS POSSIBLE WITH MODS.
>>
>>738447710
It wouldn't work because despite the kenshi map being massive, there's fuckall in it. At least with starsector+nex factions can grow through colonisation, plus you have about a hundred different faction mods to go with it, and even then nex runs into the issue of factions being too aggressive and the hegemony conquering the whole sector in a few cycles. Kenshi with nex like behaviour would see what little faction content it already has wiped out before you're even halfway into your hobo stage because the actual game world is tiny and it's only the vast stretches of emptiness between areas of interest that give the illusion of the game being huge.
>>
>>738447878
>not enough settlement nodes
fair, yeah the immediate conquering of nodes would be apparent I think. nonetheless it would be very cool to black cloud ninjaniggers get rekt by the UC or something and be a bystander to it; make the world feel more alive.
>>
>>738441918
Everyone keeps saying this exact thing but rekenshi has been out for like multiple years now why is everyone acting like it's brand new
>>
>>738448193
Because, you illiterate mong, they made a huge breakthrough when it comes to the game engine's script handling, so now mods can be far more robust and change more of the actual game.
>>
>>738448309
You're still to show examples besides the generative AI hook. Nobody cares about being able yo rotate inventory items.
>>
>>738448309
Yeah but nothing has come of it besides an item rotation mod. There are way more interesting things already made did you ever try the star wars mod that shit was crazy i wonder if that got abandoned yet
Anyways my point is they need to make interesting shit already if anyone wants me to care
>>
>>738448345
It only just came out, you ESL yuropoor.
>>
>>738441519
This game sucks because you can't actually kill your opponents only wound them

You can. They instantly die when you loot meat from the unconscious body. Don't even need to place it in inventory, just drop off any piece.
