It also feels a bit too heavy and cumbersome and there doesn't appear to be a way to git gud to avoid that stuff. The voice acting is also awful in that and I had to mute them, but to be honest, I had a good bit of fun with it and it was one of the better snowboarding games of late. Slopecrashers feels VEEERY close to being a really great indie game, but I think the dude just needs to tweak the trick system to be a little deeper so you can throw some bigger, more complex tricks, but they come with a higher risk of failing the trick. Oh and I think there might need to be an SSX 3 style "punch" mechanic so you can hit other characters as you come around. The lack of a sound effect of board-snow also hurts the immersion. It sounds small and nitpicky, but I really think it would make the game feel faster and more intense. It's got potential, but it's just not quite there, which is a crying shame because Mario Kart plus a trick system where you could fuck up and lose progress or succeed and get a boost to further your lead is, on paper, brilliant. Also one thing that 1080 did that no snowboard game seems to do, is the balance thing. If you land kinda awkwardly, but not upside down, you 'll mostly get the "spin the joystick" to regain your balance thing. Why don't other games do that? It's genius because it means you can have a partial fuck up that affects you but doesn't cripple you. It makes me want to try my hand at making a snowboard game, but I know it's a fuckload of work and I'll probably crash and burn.
