Is modern gaming just a massive money laundering operation?
>>
Do we need to have marathon threads every 30 minutes?

yes of course. there's bungie employees buying playstation gift cards from 7/11 with their drug money and then buying marathon with the gift cards.
that's why it has sold 100 million copies by now. makes total sense. yees.

I still don't get why people call them money laundering operations. Money laundering doesn't mean "throw all your money away", it means buying, selling, and trading shit to get "dirty" money away from you with as little of a paper trail as possible as fast as possible. Spending 9001 years and a gaztrillion dollars on a game with the intention for it to fail isn't a strategy.

My guess is that most/all of these "Concord-likes" and "Concord-lites" are legit just trend-hopping retards with too much money trying to multiply their money 100x, and taking so long to chase the trend that either the trend's dead or the competition is so locked in place that nothing's gonna budge it.
Bonus: most are surrounded by yes men and consulting agencies telling them that they're gods amongst men and that this game is THE game to end all games.

The entire global economy is just money laundering, idiot.

I dunno it kinda seems like Marathon's problem was the opposite, it was originally going to be some weird open world co-op MMO thing like Destiny but the higher ups were all no men who didn't think it would do well so development got dragged out and directors got swapped out until they just had go kludge what they had into a concord-like and kick it out the door.
