Why was Luigi's Mansion 1 more kino than its sequels?
>>738457270same reason that resident evil gets worse with every gamethey forgot to make it about being in a big mansion
>>738457270better visual style
>>738457270was it?
It was realistic and gritty while the sequels played like a gay saturday morning cartoon
>>738457270Because it understood the assignment and had Luigi stuck in an actual creepy mansion.Atmosphere is important, ya know?
It was a tech demo but a good one so it shows off a lot of cool tech and lighting that was novel for the time , it also sits at an akward point before nintendo standardized the art style so a lot of the deisgns look more unique, a few games in the early gamecube stand out to me for this (mario party 4, double dash, melee, metrpid prime) where it was the first time you saw retro characters stylized amd playable in high fidelity 3d models
Portrait ghosts
>>738457270Because it had soul. And I loved the super secret daisy cutscene too, lol.
>Luigi is actually in a mansion (singular)>the ghosts are a genuine threat and not just friendly things turned evil>the rooms are actually dark, justifying the use of the flashlight
>>738457270The dev team basically didn't exist anymore by the time Dark Moon happened
>>738458170i think its also that its not level based like the sequels. you could just freely explore the mansion without it feeling too "gamey"
>>738457751>>738457654>>738457763>>738459046All correct
>>738457270Because all the sequels were outsourced while the first gamewas made in-house.
>>738457270 Because after the gamecube nintendo lost its soul.
>>738457270I never played the sequels but I found LM boring as fuck, with shit controls, repetitive environments. It just felt like a tech demo aimed at children. Honestly most Cube games suck now that I replay them as an adult (this, Metroid Prime, SMB2, Starfox Assault, Rogue Leader)
>>738457270the only one actually made internallythe rest were handed off to retards for some reason
>>738457270atmosphere and level design. I remember way more about the first game's rooms than I do the 2nd and third.
>>738457270Very good and established atmosphere.
