Did you play console games online during the PS2, Gamecube, and OG Xbox era?
>>738472352i used to and i still do
i was maybe 10 and i had a very hard time setting it up and nobody to help me i remember that i got it working but for some reason it didn't after 1 sessionin hindsight resetting the router would have probably fixed it
>>738472352That dark elf archer looking pretty fucking ghoulish on that cover art. Also lol at the kid making fun of Koreans.
>>738472604no you didn't STFU stupid fucking 'eck using pajeet
>>738472352Me and my friend bought a PS2 broadband adapter but couldn't find use of it any games so we returned it. I did however get the broadband adapter for GameCube just to play PSO2 online every day.
Only on my computer. My DS was the first console, I played games.
>>738472617if it's any consolation it is just as annoying setting it up today as it used to be 20 years agohttps://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Install_Guide
>>738472790i meant ps2 online play in general
If I had to guess which board has the most underage users it would definitely be /v/
>>738472703alright
>>738472352I'm a zoomer and didn't really start playing games online until the 360 and DS, but I do remember my dad buying a PS2 online adapter. I played a little bit of THUG 2 (all I can remember is some fags wearing a white fencing suit holding a combo the entire match and raping everyone else in score). My dad played Medal of Honor game and Mortal Kombat DeceptionI also remember watching my friend's stepdad play Halo 2 on Xbox Live, but I didn't play it myself.
>>738472352Just a little bit, but that was in something like 2007.I was 10, I had slim PS2. My parents bought compact LCD TV, so I connected it near the router, along with PS2 and plugged the ethernet cable.Fortunately Call of Duty Finest Hour had network configuration program on disc, so I was actually able to play them.
>>738472352I did. I played FFXI, PSO, and Burnout 3 Takedown.
A little bit of Halo 2 with my big sister
>>738472352No. I left my peasant life behind at the age of 7 years.
>>738472352it's pretty impressive how a console mmo worked as well as it did on dial up internetthe only thing that sucked were game patches, shit would take like six hours i would set it up to download before going to school and would get home to it still not being done sometimes.
>>738472352gamecube psotwisted metal black online, monsterhunter 1
>>738473186>it's pretty impressive how a console mmo worked as well as it did on dial up internetdial up was long gone before the ps2 was online
>>738474270
>>738475995are you retarded
>>738476027do you know what the skinny ethernet port is called? you'll never guess
>>738474270It should have been, but no it was not.
>>738476095what do you plug in your non dial up internet with genius
I played Ratchet and Clank Gladiators once
>>738476702that's so me bruh
>>738472352Yeah. Shit was beyond racist.I played Unreal championship a ton and I once got kicked for sounding black(13 year old skinny white kid)Good times. Xbox was day 1 great online and it was still really novel and fun. Halo 2 really made online gaming normie tier tho.Its funny to think that nobody owned a xbox but everybody was playing halo 2
>>738472352I didn't have broadband til I moved in 2008, so most of that time, I only got to do some dial-up on a limited few PS2 games. But man, some of that shit on THPS4 and Underground 1&2 was damn fun, got to see how people could do infinite caveman wall jumps to reach the top of the New York map, or insane create-a-park stuff that could layer their custom rails to create fake walls and ceilings.
I also played pc online games and the DS, but the consoles I didn't really
I played this shooter that I can't remember the name of.
>>738477048Oh right, then my brother stole my Network Adapter to try (and fail) to play FFXI, and kept it because it gave him the HDD so it was soooo inconvenient for him to simply go get his own goddamn adapter, so I permanently got locked from ever bothering again even after we did get broadband.
>>738472604Horizon's such a fun server.
>>738472352Yes. That game specifically.
Battlefront on original xbox
>>738476095>do you know what the skinny ethernet port is called> skinny ethernet port
>>738474270We couldnt even get broadband for a year after moving to a new houseIn which besides, the network adapter in europe lacked the 56k port
Check out this guy I found a few years ago.
>>738480246Is that a pager?
>>738472352i was there in the glory days of MGS3 Subsistence online, Resident Evil Outbreak 1 and 2, Killzone... and that's about it
>>738480246Still have mine. Stopped using it around 2015 though since the rubber button was getting really worn out, and the token was quite a few years beyond its recommended usage period.>>7384804172FA token.
>>738472352For me, online gaming on consoles started at the PS3. Back in the day it was somewhat of a myth to play online on PS2
>>738472352Yes. PSO on the gamecube and FFXI, Frequency and Amplitude on the PS2.
>>738480505Looks like you can buy them from the SE store for $15. I still use mine, works for XIV and XI.
No.The internet connection was slow as hell (and expensive), the network adapters were sold out quickly and we did not even have much need for it. If we wanted multiplayer we played split screen or went to the neighbors house and played PC hot seat games like HoMM3. I think we had more fun than playing with randoms online.
Is SOCOM enjoyable offline? Does it even have a single player? I always wondered about that
>>738481572Yes I've played most of them and they are really fun (even better with bot voice commands headset). Never played online and I heard SOCOM online was always infested with cheaters anyway
>>738472352I played the crap out of SOCOM II and III onlineGreat times
>>738482440Neat, I'll have to check them out. I remember there being a game on the x360 that had commands you could send to your AI over the headset, maybe GRAW
>>738480832I just swapped over to their phone app when it came time, and then eventually Google 2FA when they retired their own app. Didn't feel like ordering another keyfob for a single product.
I put a crazy amount of time into Resident Evil Outbreak and Timesplitters Future Perfect.
MGO1... my beloved...
>>738472352The first console I played online games on was the Dreamcast
>>738472604Hi Bheo, I can see your name retard
>>738472352my dumbass wondering why they wrote "PPH" upside down and what the fuck it means
>>738472352I still play PSO2 on console
>>738472352Had that FFXI HDD and played the shit out of that game, I would have likely got an entire extra GPA in high school if FFXI didn't exist but no regrets. Also had the Gamecube adapter for PSO and sunk obscene amounts of hours into it and even the PSO card game.
>>738472352I bought picrelated bundle when I was a kid not long after it came out. Plugged it in, launched the game and literally couldn't find a single online match available, so I never got to play it because it was completely online only.I played Tony Hawks Underground online a decent amount, that was fun. Also for a couple years the Dreamcast online functionality and web browser was my main way of using the internet. The official Dreamcast keyboard was so good
>>738472352That box looks awesome. I still have my Crisis Core special edition PSP. I miss shopping video games from the store. I got into WoW because the Wotlk box art was the most epic thing ever. These days you get shilled by ecelebs.
I got it on 360 and my friends had it on PS2. It was really fun.
>FFXI>PSOYep, it's gaming time.
>>738487698I really should have reinstalled that shit a few months before 360 support shut down, since I basically met the requirements for all of the achievements at that point due to solo-Dynamis & ez-mode XP being a thing in the few years prior to its closure.
>>738472352I had a dreamcast so yes. PSO, Unreal Tournament, Alien Front online. Good shit.
>>738472352Yes. First game ever: Socom 3Game I played the most: Socom 3 & its Update Combine Assault Then I tried Killzone 1 and hated it. Played Rainbow Six Lockdown, Black Hawk Down, Battlefield Modern Combat, NFL Madden, etc. This was around 2004ish. Once I got my Xbox 360 I stop playing my PS2 online.
>>738472921All I remember about THUG2 online were glitch rooms being hosted a lot for people trying to practice to discover new collision clips, and me using a GameShark exclusively to increase the msg character limit for typing, because it was capped so low for some reason.
