Every single phase of SoD pushed it further and further and further away from vanilla. They had so many chances to course-correct, but instead just continuously made the game more and more like retail.

Classic launch was a huge disaster with servers dying and instantly becoming one-sided, RMT being rampant, bots are everywhere, with a completely fucked up economy. Servers were WORSE than private servers at handling large scale events with tons of people in one place, and layering caused tons of problems. The only thing they managed to fix was the fucked up server balance, both vanilla and tbc anniversary have been completely assraped by cheaters with the entire community just giving up and accepting it. If you honestly think that the company that can't handle maintaining an old version of the game will be able to make a new version of the game without fucking it up, you are delusional. Classic+ is 100% guaranteed to be absolute fucking garbage. Classes will be homogenized. There will be wow token, which people will defend because it "solves the gold buying problem", a problem that only exists due to blizzard's incompetence. Things will be streamlined. And the worst part of all of this is that shit-eating blizzdrones will defend all of it.
